love you for putting something from Burning Blue Soul on Youtube. And your strange little clips. I espically like the street-walking bits at the end, great light.
Funny enough, twenty minutes ago, I thought of illustrating "Three Orange Kisses from Kazan", "Waiting for the Upturn" or some of the new soundtracks with self-filmed material from the eighties and today. Hope I find the time.
Memories of being a kid... I always used to think he said "I wanted to be Bob Dylan until I discovered Moses"... here I've just realised it was a Barbie Girl he wanted to be. Or not?!? Well, either way, he was happier with Moses I suppose.
I still like "song without an ending..." off the whole of BBS
The first verse is/was my late adolescence personified...
I bet you nobody know what he says in the left speaker after the opening "I like you, I think that you're really good - but I think you think, that Im, well that I'm a bit undercooked- I'm lazy I play silly games and go over the top - and one of these days it's gonna get me killed - and that'll be my lot..."
Love Matt Johnson (& the The), he really knows how to lay his finger on things. But the video you made yourself? If so, it lifted up the whole song...
What an underated hero! You speak to most people today and mention the the and you get a blank expression in return! You mention s club 7 you get a smile and recognition. It has always left me quite glum!
Wow! Truly an angst ridden song. I found the live version first and love the way Johnson and Marr worked it up but also love the darkness the original version evokes
Just found my vinyl copy of this album in an old case. it's a masterpiece no doubt. it's the production that's the real genius, got to hand it to Gilbert and Lewis for their work on it. so many hair standing moments! was matt's lyrics any better than this. total youthful elequence, sure it's pretentious, but it's right on the money as well. robert smith and morrisey don't come close. this here is real teenage depression.
this is heaven this song!...I met Matt Johnson, and he is as deep as the song. Took me so long to get into burning blue soul, but wow when it hits ya the album and you dawn it is like a thunderbolt!...I asked him about pornography of despair..the album...he said he didn't even have a copy, but he was even younger than this album..and more in anguish, would love to get my hands on a copy!!!!
Burning Blue Soul is one of the most overlooked and underrated albums. At such a young age, Matt Johnson blazed trails in tape looping and recording. The album is a fantastic journey and best listened to from start to finish.
Thanks for posting I'm not a huge fan of Burning Blue Soul but this track is gorgeous. I have the live version on CD which is fantastic. Thanks again for posting, it is always good to see some quality the The on youtube :-)
You pray to your god, that you'll never
feel so much pain again.
But the agony - has just begun.
Movin' on, opening new doors,
Life... just doesn't seem that simple
Anymore -
& in case I don't see you again,
I hope you'll feel glad that you
know me - while I was HERE!!!

you can, by using e-mule and shareaza, carefully find lots of tracks from P.O.D.
A few of them ( in changed form) arrived later.
ps I think "uncerain smile" is a redo.
I also had an audio tape that had 2 tracks off of P<O<D, but I lost it!

I agree with the first comment - BBS is on a par with Soul Mining but better than Infected.
Where did u find the vid, btw?

well edited, and anything that gets his "I know how he feels, I've been there" music out there is doing a brilliant job
