I always wished John had married Sissy instead when I read the book and I still do when I watch this, but I guess people always have to fall in love with those who don't have the same qualities as themselves, for balance.
This movie is pretty close to the book but it is a little off with some things. The girl that plays Francie is a pretty good child actress for the 40's!!

This part made me cry too. Fuck Katy, breaking Johnny's spirit like that, cutting of his and their daughter's dream. Also, the daughter is so cute.
