That was my first Nightwish concert. Wow I totaly forgot that they played Wishmaster! I was in so much awe that they actually existed I hardly remember that night... This is fantastic! I love Anette! She's my hero!!! <3

You misunderstood me. I know that Symphonic and operatic are mot synonymous. I study music at conservatory. And I meant operatic elements, not opera itself. Opera is a total different world. I do believe that the band adjusted their sound to Anette's voice. But that is logical. Anette has a GREAT voice but she can't do the same things Tarja could.

'Century Child', barring Marco's surprisingly mediocre vocals (especially since his vocal performance on Tarot's 2003 release, 'Suffer our Pleasures' and everything before that was excellent), is a pretty awesome album, but 'Once' is their weakest effort yet on every level. None of Nightwish's albums were operatic either.

I do not know why you bring Tarja to this discussion - I did not mention her name. Anyway, I liked also her era in Nightwish and respect her abilities as an interpreter of Nightwish music. Her solo career doesn't impress me because singing Nightwish covers does not feel right to me and the other songs are not good - but she's still a good singer.

I do not believe that Amaranth is bringing a lot of money. 12 million views in YouTube does not bring a cent to Nightwish at least not directly. I also saw an interview of Tuomas made in December 2007 during Jyvaskyla gig soundcheck where he stated that Nighwish music or idea has not changed a bit due the change of vocalist; in 2002 the bass palyer was changed and now the singer; everything else continues as always.
I agree that the vocal sound is different (not worse), but the discssussion was about whether Nightwish, by choosing Anette, made a calculated move to attract pop music listeners.
If a band chooses a previously unknown 36-year old married mother of 6-years old kid from a Swedish suburb, I think that it in itself proves, that they were not calculating but taking a big risk. There was other motives: Nightwish memebers liked Anette's voice and her personality. Chemistry, you see.

1) It's rather sloppy headbanging, but it's headbanging. It's much more metal than the hardcore dancing now so unfortunately common at metal shows.

This is why I don't like her. When Tarja came on stage, she had dignity. Eke tuomas said, that she is the most charismatic person he knew. She didn't need to dance around on the stage. Anette doesn't have in her voice emotions. She is just singing. When Tarja is singing I feel, the emotion she wants to transmit.
(And those stripy stockings.. -.-" but I don't say anything...I've said enough...)

LadyRoseDepp, the title of the videoclip already warned you about the content: Anette! You already know that you don't like Anette but still continue watching these videos. Is it so important to go writing around expressing your negative feelings concerning Anette. My advise to you would be to stick with Tarja videos. There are plenty of them in YouTube.

I do not know why you bring Tarja to this discussion - I did not mention her name. Anyway, I liked also her era in Nightwish and respect her abilities as an interpreter of Nightwish music. Her solo career doesn't impress me because singing Nightwish covers does not feel right to me and the other songs are not good - but she's still a good singer.

Funny, I think I've seen operawithapickle bashing Anette almost in every Nightwish videoclip. If this is so disgusting why can't she just stick with opera? I agree with Zeliziouz, Anette looks good in this video and has her own style.

You're a bit cruel, but in some way you're right. I don't think that Tuomas is an idiot, I say that she made 2 very bad decisions. One in 2005, and one in the end of 2006...
And don't get me wrong. I don't hate Anette. I just can't accept her in THIS band.

Talented,Explain that,its not hard for anyone to open there mouths and produce the same sounds she makes,there isnt much talent involved in that.I know a 13 year old girl who hasnt had more than 10 singing lessons and she sounds much more talented than anette.
Tuomas-couldnt fire tarja face 2 face so he wrote a letter which in my view is so childish and immature,no realtionship should end by a letter.
Lyrics like amaranth!he has 3 years to produce an album and he produces stuff like that!

not to be insulting, but i think the opinions of singing teachers and professional musicians have more say in Anette's vocal talent than you do. that's not an issue.
tuomas did it for the sake of the fans, so that there would be as little controversy and rumors as possible
amaranth is about purity and beauty. i think a talented songwriter like him is allowed to have something cheesy like that if he wants :)

For the sake of the fans,Its easy to see what type of fans stick with such a 2 faced band as nightwish.
amaranth is about getting as much money as they possibly can.Why waste such an amazing talent as he has and write something as stupid as amaranth? because he knew it would make them uber sucessful..resulting in lots of money:) dosnt take someone with half a peanut for a brain to work that out.

I do not believe that Amaranth is bringing a lot of money. 12 million views in YouTube does not bring a cent to Nightwish at least not directly. One could assume that Amaranth's YouTube success may have increased interest to Nightwish and DPP, the sales of which naturally is important source of revenues to Nightwish. I do not believe that Tuomas could have predicted that Amaranth becomes a YouTube hit. These things just happen! Well said foreverandever.

To quote sentences taken out of the context; That does not prove anything. I also saw an interview of Tuomas made in December 2007 during Jyvaskyla gig soundcheck where he stated that Nighwish music or idea has not changed a bit due the change of vocalist; in 2002 the bass palyer was changed and now the singer; everything else continues as always.

I agree that the vocal sound is different (not worse), but the discssussion was about whether Nightwish, by choosing Anette, made a calculated move to attract pop music listeners.
If a band chooses a previously unknown 36-year old married mother of 6-years old kid from a Swedish suburb, I think that it in itself proves, that they were not calculating but taking a big risk. There was other motives: Nightwish memebers liked Anette's voice and her personality. Chemistry, you see.

saying it's only music and it's an 'emotion and scenery of the soul' in no way contradicts itself. Nightwish is tuomas' release of emotions, his way of expressing his personal feelings to the world, however, it's not worth everything, it is 'only music'
