hmmmm...the report is a bit bland. The RAF did NOT fly "protective cover", there was a deliberate decision to withhold them so as not to endanger them for the next battle, The Battle of Britain. The Luftwaffe had a field-day.
tirchonail ,we had already lost to many aircraft over france,the luftwaffe did have a field day as you said,but goering promised he would finish the british off, he didnt,remind me of the battle of britain again, oh yes ,victory for the RAF ;)
The 5 planes flying by are French fighters, Moranes MS.406.

smile. True, if it is a contemporary report. It strikes me as an attempt at historical reporting sometime after the war.
