I remember working at Noble Park for Mr. Watkins back in the early 70s. I also remember Bill and Karen Grooms along with their mother. I believe their mother was the brother of Mr. Watkins. I think she was in the ticket house when this video was made. Anyone remember a guy name Rabbit that worked out there? And if anyone knows where Bill is, leave me a message.
I was born in 1966 and remember many of the rides from my childhood in the 70's- The train (called a MTC G-16, now they are worth about $45k WITHOUT the track IF you can find one), the electric cars, the Merry Mixer, Tilt-a-whirl, haunted house that wasn't so spooky, ferris wheel, and most definietely the crank train cars (the red and white tunnel at the first of the vid)- oh, how I loved those things! Another almost unobtainable relic of days gone by!
thanks for posting this, gotta share on facebook...watched it with my daughter who is 12 and she was like, you guys had it all, lol...i graduated in 87 so yeah brings back memories
Thanks for posting this, you have some great footage of the park. And if I'm not mistaken the girl in the Water Works commercial is now on the Alvey Automotive commercials. Maybe the loud one they keep putting in the trunk?
Thank you so much for bringing back some wonderful memories of Noble Park! Once a year, in the 80s we traveled 45 minutes from Illinois to go to Noble Park!
Thanks so much for this video, it is now my all time favorite youtube find. I was born in 73 in Paducah, and still remember the park vividly...thanks for putting some real images up so I can share with my kids.
You bet! I had never seen Wes with a mustache! Kathy had the Farrah Fawcett look going that was so popular back then. Bill just doesn't age does he? Hope all the Hagan are doing well. a couple of you guys played baseball for my dad, Collis Ray. I know Wes and Roger did I guess by now you have figure out I am Steve. You probably knew my brother Kelly. Did Bill's ex, Sharon go to Heath? Have a sister named Karen? Man, what a cool video of Noble Park. If only we could go back in time..... ;)
Thanks for posting this video. it brings back some great memories. Didn't realize until they were at the ticket booth but that's Kathy Hagan! She was my middle school sweetheart. Who is that standing next to Kat at the ticket booth? Wes if you see this I hope you and the kids are doing fine. You are in my prayers daily.
i remebr noble park the ridses i from i hunstville al now i feel so sorry for yall up there with the ice storm the park does not look like taht now it bring back memories
I swear 2 God I'm about 2 cry! I mean literally the tears are welling up in my eyes! How come when your young u want be a grown up and when u r an adult u want be a kid again. Oh if I could only ride that train, the helicopters, and go n2 the spook house 1 more time!
my GOD look at every1's clothes and hair styles! i used 2 wear that God awful stuff! my friends who are in there early 2 mid 20's missed the boat on this. where's Dr. brown with the delorian when u need him? i wanna go back in time!
im fixin 2 be 33 we went 2 noble park every 4th of july. we always got the picnic shelter where the space rocket playset was. we grilled hot dogs, burgers, and had kfc. going 2 noble park was a big deal it was like going 2 disney world. times were so much simpler then b4 cellphones, and the internet. b4 my xbox 360 had the atari 2600 and it was the shit! this video brings back so many fond memories. God i miss my childhood. i think the last year they had rides was 1988.
Thank you so much for this video!! We used to have our family renuions there every year!! I was so terrified of the Haunted House but had to go in every time!! This video brings back so many memories. Thank you for sharing it!!
My Dad use to work at Noble Park back in the 70's building and maintaining the rides. That would have been around 1975 or so. I remember a roller coaster, a very scary looking thing, didn't look to safe, but I remember it being called "The Mouse Trap", am I mistaken?
The roller coaster was not the Wild Mouse, The Wild Mouse was taken down years and it was located back toward the lake past the Merry Mixer. I started working there in 1980 and moved up to Skee ball operator then assistant manager in 1986
WOW...THANKS! '87 was the start of my senior year at Lone Oak, so you know that was peak "park time!" I worked in the clown selling tickets during the summers of '84-'86. I am so glad I found your video and THANKS SO MUCH for posting it! I smiled all the way through! :)
sweet, i pretty much grew up at that place, thanx for this vid. i couldn't remember everything. those were the first rides i ever went on. man i loved that place
Oh my God... this is like watching my entire childhood. I remember ALL of that stuff. The clown face ticket booth, the Tilt-a-whirl thing, the little car track. Dude.... seriously, THANK YOU for posting this!
The roller coaster was called the "Wild Mouse". Lots of memories from the late 70's and early 80's- cruisin' the park, eating handmade pizzas from the old Noble Park Dairy Queen, hanging out. The "park police" with their spotlights and loudspeakers- "Let's see two heads at all times". haha. The days of Trans Ams and Z28's. It is nothing like it used to be anymore, except they do have a great Christmas display every year. The old ampitheater on the backside with local bands was cool too.
WOW...You just blew my mind with this...I was there when the rides were there...& then after they were gone, we used to just hang-out there every weekend,OH WHAT FUN....Then u grow up..Thanks for the memories....
WHAT the HECK!!! I was born in 1986 and live in Paducah . . . I have NO memories of this. I bet my brother and sister do . . . I'll have to ask my mom about this. Crazyness . . . the only think I recognize is the pond . . its so different now.
I am from there, most of my family still live in Paducah...we used to go to Noble Park ALL the time back in the 70's and early 80's...this was similare to how it was when I used to go there. However; I do know why you are shocked to see what noble Park used to be all about, because I was visiting about 3 years go and I could NOT believe how different it was! The way the park is now is NOT how it started out. It was way much better back years ago.
thanks so much for posting this video. It brings back such wonderful memories of my childhood. Every year my dad's company picnic was at noble park and we got to go to the amusement park all day. remember the string bracelets that you ride all the rides? such a shame it's gone.
And correct me if I am wrong but wasn't there a water slide or two..or three? I was so little...I can't really place it. Maybe the way the economy goes and people don't want to travel - they will bring it back - but better.
yep, there was a nice waterslide and most folks remember the attractive young lady on the commercial saying "Come on in, the water's fine at The Water Works". Thanks for your comments.
I remember that...barely! And now that I have thought about it...weren't there 3 slides? And they were named something like Big Bear, Mama Bear and Lil Bear?
I was to little to ride most of them.. but I do remember this... the one I loved most was the train around the park.. my older sister loved the swings..
I was only a boy then, but as I remember it, the guy who owned them simply could not afford to keep them going any longer, so he auctioned them off. Who knows, some may still be in operation somewhere. I miss skee-ball, but I believe some of the runs turned up in KY Oaks Mall shortly later. Just about the time the game in general became a huge ripoff. Used to be able to get lots of tickets for an average game. Then it all changed and went to like one ticket at the 150 pt. mark. RIPOFF!
That was cool. I was shooting video the last day the park was open, maybe this was that day I can't remember the date but it was somewhere around this time. As for the haunted house.. do you remember the walk through haunted house?
yes, I remember the haunted house- I don't remember how it went, but I do remember riding it. LOL That rollercoaster too was like a big circle- but fun.
OMG! I found this today. First time I was watching the rides, etc. Second time I watched the people and suddenly I realized I'm on this! My mom and dad are too. Mom always played the piano at the reunions! Thanks for posting this. I can't even believe I stumbled upon this by accident.
Hello. I grew up in Benton but every year we'd go to the fair and ride the rides. My favorites were the bumper cars and the haunted house. Thanks for sharing your memories!
i was born in mayfield in 74, i loved going to this park on weekends with my parents the rides, the sherbet icecream, those were the days
