Um, I wouldnt be too sure about that, I am myself an automotive mechanic, and european and japanese cars are just as cheap or even cheaper to fix then american cars depending on what you compare it to (example, jetta to a cavalier or an audi to a cadillac), and euro cars are not a big fan of the garage compared to an american car. Oh, and one more thing, call um chrysler for example "2001 chrysler sebring looking for a fuel filler nozzle","Sorry the part is discontinued" ..wow and no aftermarket

.. it all comes down together... porsche builds the car so u can drop the engine and tranny by removing bout 2-4 bolts on top, 2 to 6 underneath, a few hoses, and u lift the car leaving the engine and tranny on floor or on a big table, u then have everything open and nice and easy to work on... mercedes made the new small hatchbacks wit the engine tilted diagonaly cuz there was no room underneath the hood, but by doing this everything is open and accessible..try just doing spark plugs on US cars

I've never met anyone who kept a BMW more than 4 years. Know why? On year 5, it turns into a pumpkin. A money pit. Everything starts to go wrong and the parts and labour are just too high. Same thing may happen with all the toys in the caddy, but you know what, in the summers, there are 50 and 60 yr old caddy's on the road. Never see a 20 yr old beamer. I'd rather have the caddy, regardless of if it's faster. It is more reliable and will last longer and much nicer looking.

across the over here in the states american cars have the same faults as imports i got an 2008 kia stortage its handing is ok the ride sucks. before i got this SUV i had a 1984 cadillac deville the ride was so fine that i felt i was driving on air. but is was an gas hog it got at lease 7 to 10 miles per gallon. the kia i got now get around 30 MPG. What with top gear they make fun of us (wtf)? but are american muscle cars over in europe are they really hard to get?

A few points about American cars and handling. This country is a big big place, freeways and highways are long and strait. The same freeways and highways get twisty in urban areas where trafic is so bad you couldn't drive fast if you wanted to. Cops are everywhere here and drive high powered interceptors with v8 motors, no vauxhall no focus no volvo. Anyway, american cars have somewhat cheap interiors, but to say to a world audience that the Holden is better? I can't buy one here in the US.

This is an 04 CTS-V, not the new generation, 5.7L LS6 (old Z06 engine), not a LSA or LS1/2/3. I'm waiting for them to finally review the new one, it's only been a couple years.

This show is indeed great and I am glad that there is not going to be an American made version. This is one of very few shows that I actually look forward to watching new episodes. I am pretty sure that if an American version of Top Gear were to ever be made it would be focused on Nascar, country music and beer drinking.
The biggest problem would be getting a cast and feel that replicates Top Gear UK. Americans just don't have the same sense of humour, and I doubt you'd be able to turn a Chevy Cavalier into a reusable Shuttle and launch it in the USA. You'd probably get arrested for that kind of 'humour'. And where would you do the time trial type driving? There is no where to unleash a Veyron. Not enough diversity in environments in USA to do this kind of show.
i don't know where you live in Canada fireworks but LOL. Drive highway 50 in Nevada or anywhere in Montana 150 mph is not just doable it gets boring with the long long stretches of road with 0 traffic and 0 cops. Plus in Montana there is no speed limit : )
It's possible to do 150mph in any country. But can you do it on regular basis and film it for TV? I.e. You can't use footage of what will be illegal activity in the US, on a TV show in the US. The cops let you do it, it isn't legal. Once the cops figured out where you were filming they'd be chaffing at the bit to bust them all. That being said, maybe states like Montana would be willing to work with the show to allow them to do the kind of driving they want.

I've never met anyone who kept a BMW more than 4 years. Know why? On year 5, it turns into a pumpkin. A money pit. Everything starts to go wrong and the parts and labour are just too high. Same thing may happen with all the toys in the caddy, but you know what, in the summers, there are 50 and 60 yr old caddy's on the road. Never see a 20 yr old beamer. I'd rather have the caddy, regardless of if it's faster. It is more reliable and will last longer and much nicer looking.

across the over here in the states american cars have the same faults as imports i got an 2008 kia stortage its handing is ok the ride sucks. before i got this SUV i had a 1984 cadillac deville the ride was so fine that i felt i was driving on air. but is was an gas hog it got at lease 7 to 10 miles per gallon. the kia i got now get around 30 MPG. What with top gear they make fun of us (wtf)? but are american muscle cars over in europe are they really hard to get?

As an American, I'm ridiculously embarrassed by all the Americans commenting on this video. Learn to take a fucking joke people. On Top Gear, they rip into every car, regardless of where it comes from. Germans take a beating for the war, the French are mocked for snootiness, and there's an entire challenge ripping on British cars (BL). Everything is fair game on this show, that's what makes it one of the most entertaining car shows to watch.

A few points about American cars and handling. This country is a big big place, freeways and highways are long and strait. The same freeways and highways get twisty in urban areas where trafic is so bad you couldn't drive fast if you wanted to. Cops are everywhere here and drive high powered interceptors with v8 motors, no vauxhall no focus no volvo. Anyway, american cars have somewhat cheap interiors, but to say to a world audience that the Holden is better? I can't buy one here in the US.

This is an 04 CTS-V, not the new generation, 5.7L LS6 (old Z06 engine), not a LSA or LS1/2/3. I'm waiting for them to finally review the new one, it's only been a couple years.

was going to get a lincoln ls, found out a friend has one. nothing but problems with window motors and coil packs.
i got a grand prix instead, only to find out cost cutting on production ment thin door panels. if you get a gm product, park it at the back of the parking lot or expect to come back to new dents every time

fuck that. Our family has a BMW and because its good and reliable. It has comfor a lot of space and power. Everything what a car needs. Badge is not importance at all. And the price was not a huge in comparison with other cars. Dont forget the bmw is well advanced manufacturer and if u buy same year cheaper car from other manufacturer you get what you pay, same with BMWs you pay more you get more.

This show is indeed great and I am glad that there is not going to be an American made version. This is one of very few shows that I actually look forward to watching new episodes. I am pretty sure that if an American version of Top Gear were to ever be made it would be focused on Nascar, country music and beer drinking.

The biggest problem would be getting a cast and feel that replicates Top Gear UK. Americans just don't have the same sense of humour, and I doubt you'd be able to turn a Chevy Cavalier into a reusable Shuttle and launch it in the USA. You'd probably get arrested for that kind of 'humour'. And where would you do the time trial type driving? There is no where to unleash a Veyron. Not enough diversity in environments in USA to do this kind of show.

i don't know where you live in Canada fireworks but LOL. Drive highway 50 in Nevada or anywhere in Montana 150 mph is not just doable it gets boring with the long long stretches of road with 0 traffic and 0 cops. Plus in Montana there is no speed limit : )

It's possible to do 150mph in any country. But can you do it on regular basis and film it for TV? I.e. You can't use footage of what will be illegal activity in the US, on a TV show in the US. The cops let you do it, it isn't legal. Once the cops figured out where you were filming they'd be chaffing at the bit to bust them all. That being said, maybe states like Montana would be willing to work with the show to allow them to do the kind of driving they want.
