And we do not need to survive, we dont have to forage food/hunt food or collect firewood and make fire from it etc. We are in an un-natural enviroment, square houses etc.... @G3org3Master Weelll kinda. It is natural for us to form groups and use resources to survive. We have advanced, and by that I mean we've added detail to how we make our shelters etc. We DO hunt food actually. That's how we get our meat. That and we raise animals to breed more of themselves, but not always. We can't just wait every year to eat 20 or less meals. lol And some people do frequently hunt for food.

A lot of things we do are still natural actually. But we are very.. unnatural too.

No one has special insight into the minds of other mammals, but it's arrogant to think that humans are so damn special, we're the only animals who "think". I agree with what you're saying, I just don't like the word "Superiority". It's common for people to treat humanity as if we're literally 'gods gift' and then scoff at 'stupid' animals. We're all products of the natural world, evolution has simply provided us with different adaptations.

Since Elephants are self-aware, one would be forgiven for assuming that this painting was a product of its own creativity, rather than a product of the "sit, rollover, play dead" training that it truly is.

It is therefore misleading not to have this disclaimer written within the video's description. Blame lies squarely with National Geographic for this (intentional?) mistake.

It's the coordination, the motor skills to paint something discernable to the human eye of the elephant that is impressive. In any regard, our knowledge of the intelligence of other animals is quite infantile and advancing with recent studies that indicate that we may have been quite wrong in the past about the intelligence of other species. Sentience, as science defines it, is not a suitable gage.

gez didn't know giraffes could be so violent. i mean that seriously looks like one or the other could get killed. i always figured those prongs on the head were ornamental. i wonder if a giraffe would have enough of a reach to be able to hit a person with those things. it would be interesting to see how long the prongs might get after millions of years of evolution. it would seem that whatever giraffe had the strongest sharpest horns would be the one to win mating rights.
