Creating a proper atmosphere for businesses to invest in Canada is essential to economic recovery, which means lower unemployment which means higher tax revenue without raising taxes on the middle and lower classes. Those numbers are complete nonsense, most economists agree that cutting the right amount in corporate taxes actually increases revenue because of increased investment.

@Cnd1867 I"m the same myself, as far as my range of friends. I think it's in a large part for the reason that I don't tie myself to parties / leaders, as much as to principle. Harper scares me because he attacks the middle class too much....although he tries to make it look like he isn't. Anything that creates debt ends up being an attack on the middle class, esp when the tax cut focus is corp. HST is a huge burden on the middle class...basically a transfer of money from personal to corp.

And chretien killed the deficit partly with CONSERVATIVE fiscal policies (same spending cuts as harris in ontario) and largely by keeping mulroney's GST/free trade, the exact opposite of what they campaigned on in 1993

I can't stand Harper but I loved Mike Harris. Harris balanced the books every year they were in office. Only the Ontario Liberals can't balance the books. They lied about the Harris deficit, even Ontario Liberal Finance Minister Greg Sorbara said there wasn't a Harris deficit (Cda press/Colin Perkel). Also it was Chretien who made the cuts to Ontario via transfer payments not Harris.

True, but under Harper job growth has slowed and the economy (GDP) has contracted. Tax revenue has decreased. The seal population is now endangered. The brutal slaughter of seals is a personally lucrative off-season activity conducted by a few 1000 east coasters. How dare you bring up Canadian soldiers! You do not have the moral right to talk about them. Canada finally has a government that has given the military some respect, some equipment, some money, and a purpose.

The Liberal Party committed the troops thinking they couldn't be used. The Liberal Party has NEVER given the troops equipment or training budgets worth a damn.
Ask any soldiers whether or not they think Liberals support the troops...
Or put on a uniform - like many of us have done - and then, if you don't get pummelled by your mates, you'll learn just how much of an ass you really are.

My party supports the troops, not just with words, but with money. They have expanded the training budgets. They have expanded the operation budgets. They have given new equipment, and have orders for more.
The Liberals? Well, the last time the Liberal Party bought any large-ticket items for the military was in the 70s.
You Liberals and leftists DO NOT have the right to pretend you're on the troops side.

Most economies are blended today , even that of China. The answer is to not limit your options,and that means staying in the center with all options open.We run into problems labeling, look at the US debt after 8 years of "Republican spending". Our own version in that of our "Conservatives" are 20 months in and have achieved record spending.

Actually, that organization's budget was cut because they provide advocacy and research, and NOT first-person assistance.
Moreover, that organization had been self-financed since 1998. Which means they closed because they were not considered effective by those whom they purport to service.
It's all there, if you were smart or honest enough to look for it.

The point is, This Government is keeping your employment premiums artificially high, transferring the extra,to General Revenue for their own programs as they see fit.The last transfer was 5 billion dollars.Not exactly chicken feed. This is putting pressure on to raise the minimum wage when in fact we are being gouged by the very program set up to protect us.

I'm not sure what you meen by there own programs. The prime minister while put money into programs he feels are important that is his job. If you think Harper is gouging consider the following. Under Chretian and Martin a working man making $1400/month was paying $400/month in federal taxes. You can't live of $1000 a month.

It is not the Government's right to take a portion of your pay above Income tax as "Employment premiums" and dump it in with income tax.
The last transfer was 5 Billion dollars, now it's automatic.Support this creative accounting and see where it will get us.
The Auditor General has issued several warnings to no avail.
I guess Harper will be dragged into court, another good use of our Tax dollars.

Climate Change
In the company I work for everyone else drives to work alone. They don't car pool while I'm taking the bus. I wonder how many of my co workers have energy efficent appliences (ie florecent light bulbs, convection ovens)
