I was looking some stuff on it up and I found that when the palm is turned inward (towards person), it's a sign for "victory". From there (during the Vietnam War), the anti-war protesters adopted it, but with the palm turned outward which meant "peace". I dunno how right this is though.

Acutally, V for Victory is British I believe. There are no V's in Asian languages. The peace sign came about during the protest of the Vietnam War. That's when it became popular in Asia. Not to be a smart alec either :)
