thanks for the reply dude. I have some iguana armor now to protect my hands and face when I work with him later today. I'll try to appeal to his better half with fruit and cushy bite-proof clothing and indifference. he's always been a sweetheart before now so hopefully I can get that out of him again
I was soothing him and petting him while he was apparently calmed with the sheet over his head, but the aggressive displays continue when I walk in the room by him. Now I'm reading "Henry Lizardlover's" slam against Melissa saying the last thing you want to do is confront them. What's your take on this? Does your ig snap out of this every year? Should I give him a "love sock" like people suggest or does that make it worse?
@QuakeFingers My Ig snaps every so often yes. He did his first charge right before this video was taken. I am definitely not an expert, but I think Kaplan's way is the best to go. I think you should definitely confront him. I think the best thing to do is let him realize that anything he does to you is pointless. If biting and tail whipping doesn't make the human go away, then the Ig will resort to subsiding. I don't like the sheet idea, it might temp. fix the problem, but does nothing lasting.
@QuakeFingers And if a love sock works, go for it. Get him a small stuffed green animal to go at. Also when my Ig is angry, picking him up seems to calm him down some. He may try to get away forcefully, but I always show him that I am stronger. Be smart though and know when you need to flee. Their bite is awful.
I have a 4-year-old. He just entered what I believe to be his first mating season as he just recently figured out how to bob his head, lost most of his appetite, picked up lots of orange, and started pooping wherever he wants. He was always friendly as hell to everybody and liked to be pet. But just yesterday he tried to attack me. I stood my ground like melissa kaplan suggested but he would not relent. He snapped and ate a faceful of sheet and soon I was on top of him
@raysyelowcorner A Green Iguana. Got him when he was under a foot long. Now he is a little over 4.5 feet! Make sure you do your research on these animals before bringing it home :)
