The problems with the show arise when: 1. They try to make it too much like any other romantic comedy sitcom and stray away from the geeky/science-y stuff that makes is unique. 2. The writing doesn't take the time to come up with clever/intelligent jokes and goes for cheaper punchlines. Also, Leonard gets laid way too much.

Having said that: God would it be a dream job to write for this show.

@MegaViralTV I think yes and no. Making something too 'generic' can have the opposite effect, and creating something unique you can't find elsewhere on TV can be a path to success. The science stuff is not the point in and of itself; you don't have to know all this stuff to enjoy Sheldon's ramblings. The point is to make unique and interesting characters, and allow them to behave in their own way. Don't try to make some thing 'with mass appeal', just try to make something good.

Even if you're not talking artistic merit, having a weak season usually doesn't show up in ratings until later on. Many people could largely think that the show isn't quite as good as it once was, but the ratings wouldn't necessarily show that right now.

Id much rather formulate my own opinions on what is "good" and what is not based on what is entertaining to myself on a personal level rather than what is "good" in relation to the collective subjective opinions of everybody else.

My friend asked me to give this show a shot, and being the open minded person I am, I watched this video to check out the humour...

And I'm sorry to say this, but, this show is painfully unfunny. It feels like it tries way too hard to get laughs out of people (the laugh-track this show uses doesn't count). The jokes are badly written because the writers thought that they could hide behind a veil of scientific and mathematical speak. That's not real comedy. That's laughing because the nerd sai

And I haven't seen many examples of this show bringing knowledge. It seems to be more about name dropping physics/mathematics concepts so we can all laugh at how geeky these people are rather than actually making jokes involving understanding of the concepts.
