@ivangrozny27 Don't feel bad for Lefty,he got off lightly compared to Sonny Black.Although the film strongly hints Lefty gets whacked,in fact the FBI swooped in and saved him and he ended up going to jail instead.
DeNiro played frankenstein, vito corleone, and he was in meet the parents/fockers. pretty sure those were three different types of roles. thanks for your insight though genius.
The real Donnie Brasco (Joe Pistone) uses the word fugazy a few times in the book. If the director says he's the one who made it up, I call FUGAZY AND GAY XD
Pacino has legendary dialogues: "Say hello to my little friend" and "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in..."
DeNiro has better characters: Al Capone, Raging Bull, Anayze This and Analyze That, the guy in the Jackie Brown movie, C's dad from A Bronx Tale, the dad in the Meet The Fockers franchise...
I can't see Pacino doing many of DeNiro's roles, but I can see DeNiro is all of Pacino's roles, except for Dr. Jack Kevorkian, simply because Pacino looks more like Dr. Kevorkian
Great film. I think Johnny Depp's most interesting and unique films were in the 90's while nowadays he acts in plenty of commercially successful fairytales to stay on the top. Al Pacino was impressive here too and Michael Madsen with Anne Heche did a great job too. I miss the 90's so much!!!
I never understood why Lefty didn't give all his stuff to Donny the first time he got sent for so Donny could give it to his wife incase he got whacked.
When he said he got sent for..Ya left out the best part..Donnie:You want me to turn around...Lefty:What are you gonna do take a left off the fucking bridge
@DonSvenneProduction Nope. As sure of yourself as you sound, you'd be incorrect. He says "Beaner on the outside." Bean is a slang term for one-dollar bill. It wouldn't even make sense, what you said. He's telling the guy to be safe with his money, so he's not gonna tell him to keep the big bills revealed.
@dLimboStick If it is referring to $100, then I think only in this script because I've never heard it elsewhere. And it doesn't sound right to go from Benjamin > Beaner. Maybe Ben or even Benny, but not Beaner.
If you're into Italian mafia movie's and dirty cops, then you should definitely check out my page. It's a soon to be released Italian gangster film that I have a role in. While your at my page rate, comment, and subscribe on my videos along with the movie. Thank you.
@buhshmuh From Italian slang fugazi, "fake"; perhaps also slang version of Fugacious derived from Latin fugax, fugac-, "ready to flee, flying", hence, fleeting, transitory
@buhshmuh The director if he made that statement, "he made the word fugazy up" he]s just plain full of sheet. That word has been on the streets in NY forever.
I get sick of some people saying De Niro plays the same in every movie. So I guess Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, Cape Fear, The King of Comedy, and The Godfather Part II are all the same roles?! Forget about it.....
did you guys know it was actually sonny black who got wacked in the end..and they chooped his hands off to send a message not to shake hands with a rat something along those lines
I love the way in Donnie Brasco the bosses are always just talked about and you very rarely get to even see them unless you are a captain. Probably because it was based on a true story.
Al wins! DeNiro is DeNiro in every movie. That's cool, but Pacino can actually change and show range! Michael Corleone is so different than Tony Montana, etc.
De Niro in The Raging Bull, De Niro in The Deer Hunter, De Niro in King of Comedy - 3 completely different De Niros. I guess the reason we respect Pacino just that bit more is that Pacino continues to put in a 150% into every performance, while De Niro's been phoning it in the last few years.
Deniro didnt lose his voice but lost his acting talent. Although both of them are going through a rough patch right now but I think Pacino is much better an actor.
robert de niro doesn't act the same in every movie...
in awakenings he plays a man with autism, in taxi driver he plays a man on the edge, in raging bull he plays a psychotic boxer and in once upon a time in america he plays a gangster with a heart both good actors but deniro is better
He also went against type and played the father of 'C', a boy who idolises local gangster Sonny (Chazz Palminteri), who becomes something of a mentor to him. DeNiro plays the good guy in this film, and, as usual, puts in a great performance. It was also his directorial debut. Great film
