this is just one of many possible ways you could add a sub bass - adding a pure sine synth on top of the bass seems more obvious and simple to me - also adding a return track is not necessary when you already have a dry/wet knob
I did this but noticed corpus was set by default to play more out of the left channel than the right with the "ListeningL" and "ListeningR" controls. Just put a utility set to 0% afterwards or adjust the Listening controls to be identical, although they have a more complicated effect than determining output channel. Just a heads up. Awesome tutorial. Peace!
If Corpus is receiving note information from the midi track, why raise the pitch of the sub bass up a step? It sounded "right" in the video. Just wondering if there was a specific reason for it.
Thanks for putting these videos up! They've been a HUGE help.
when u create dubstep, is there normally a bassline without lfo and then a wobble bass over it? and then u use corpus on the regular bassline to beef up the bass? or do u use corpus on the wobble bass?
@BassBurgalar mono midi? midi carries panning information, but its not a stereo signal...if you mean the audio output, just drop a Mono Utility onto the channel

For some reason I need to have my transpose on like -30 to get a sub sound...Why is this? I get 'high resonant sounds' still, even when I follow this guide perfectly. The sub sound I get at the -30 transpose is also overpowering, and drowns out the highs in my bass line; making everything sound very muddy.
This is an awesome tutorial! The only thing is when I apply this to a send track. I only get full sub sound only part of the time(about 8 bars), then the next 8 bars of the sub sounds quieter. Then the next 8 bars the sub sounds loud again. Its a repeating pattern. I made sure that on corpus the listening left and right are turned up to 100% and the hit is all the way up to 100%. I cant seem to figure out the problem?
this tutorial was awesome... i'm wompin some subbass right now. Didn't take long... do you have any extra ableton preset downloads?? yesnoEmail@gmail.com
Great Video Man, Corpus is Awesome, I Use It To Create Low-Tones Underscores For Films We Produce, So Many Controls To Tweak It's Mind-Numbing, Ableton Is The Only DAW We Use For All Productions, Sorry, But It's Simply The Best Thing On The Market.
i keep expecting to hear " ok . we jus gonna put some explosive in here, and blow this shit up," or "we jus gonna kick this little asshole in to submission till he sounds right " kinda thing.... badass stallone style....
Great tutorial here. I appreciate it muchness. I have a question though. Whenever a wobble hits, corpus is hitting way too hard, like a really sharp beginning. It sounds nasty along with the glide sound. Any tips on how to clear that up?
When i press tab to look at the track layout it is just a straight pink line where the notes should be, how do i get the notes to appear, no drums no nothing, just pink lines? Much appreciated.
Hi... Thanks By this great Tutorial... I have a doubt CAN I MAKE DIFFERENT SECTIONS IN MY MIDI CONTROLLER WITH DIFFERENTS INSTRUMENTS WITH ABLETON BUT I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE IT USING FRUITYLOOP? great tutorial, helped me a lot. btw, you didn't touch the width parameter here, and i read, it is recommended to turn it to zero, so the sub bass will be mono.
@stupidmex77 Corpus is a powerful resonator effect that is an optional add on for Ableton Live 8. It is a very flexible effect and there are many uses for it. Or you could listen to the fucking video.
Well thats the idea. You can further tune it and adjust the volume to taste. Also, adding a LP filter wont add any Lower Harmonics to a sound, it just removes the higher freqs. Give the corpus technique a try with a bass sound that's more your style, then add a saturator and a compressor after the whole thing to glue the two together.

Just add a low pass filter to that nasty bass in operator and you got a really powerfull sub bass
