Wow this is awesome!!! Steve still sounds like ''The Voice'' to me so those rumours around that time that he had lost his voice were obviously crapola!!!
I really like this track, and I've always loved Perry's voice; but I think I read that he's only doing the intro and breakdown in this. So, like at 0:24, and again around 4:47 and onward - the more raspy parts. All the soaring "Aaah...oohh" parts (like 1:30), while they may have Steve's range, don't really have his "character" (to my ears) and I suspect it's someone else. It just sounds thinner and clearer than Perry would've sounded in the year this was recorded. Could be wrong though...
@jonashjm I can only go by the liner notes on this album, where it stated..."... Steve Perry's marvelous vocals which carry the chanting melody " .... so my guess would be yes...Thanks..
@00iiRaokanii00 Not really, listen to peter gabriel's "passion" album. In "perspective" he wrote " i was inspired by gabriel's passion" - i thought it was archangel gabriel but it's peter gabriel.
Now this is a bit different but I quite like it. His voice has no end to the range of notes he can cover. I felt we should all be dancing round the totem-pole. Can you imagine that Perryettes with Steve in the middle - YES PLEASE.
@2006juneanne LOL it kinda sounds like that dont it :-)
Jason Becker ,great guitarist was diagnosed with ALS..about when he turned 20. He a quadriplegic now.. He played with David Lee Roths band @ 1 time. With the help of his family & friends & others artists he comes to make great music.
No Way, Not Steve Perry...
