Granted, I really love the gritty blues that the Stones left us with, like a lost love, but the eulogistic quality that Lanegan and Co. bring to this is just so haunting; it illustrates love lost, oppurtunities squandered, and just "what you missed," you know?
Jagger and Richards wrote this song. Totally different interpretation and mood, haunting, bleak. Outstanding cover, but no way superior to Mick Jagger. (Johnny Cash should have left this one along, however).
This version is a million times better than the Stones version. Mark Lanegan takes this song to another level that Mick Jagger couldn't. I love the Stones but this song was meant for Mark Lanegan
@SergioTabatez I love them both, they are both great timeless works of art. Just remember this was one of my favorite Stones tunes, they wrote it. I think Mark can cover anyone and pull it off, this will always be the Stones song...
@SergioTabatez Sorry but no! Jagger & Richards wrote it, with their emotions, and Jagger performed it beautifuly;at last Brian Jones on slide guitar in that song is magic.

I can't say I like it better than the Stones because it is completely different. I like both versions for different reasons. You can't compare them.

@kateapot because that's what music is there for. It touches your feelings, that's how you know a song is good.
