I'm not sure,but i believe the acc suspended Ford and he had to coach against maryland the next year from the press box.The funny thing is i think Bobby Ross got in trouble also before the game and both coaches had to coach from the press box.Danny Ford and Bobby Ross were both great coaches,and competitors.

I have no real dog in the fight other than his connection to Gadsden and him playing at Alabama. What he says is " I was 32 years old and got a goddamn Div 1 head coaching job. I'm a huge Gamecock fan but I do have much respect for Coach Ford. Clemson has been struggling to get back to having a championship winning team for the past twenty years and it's pretty obvious why. They decided that football wasn't important at Clemson and fired Danny Ford.

The national championship was earned.

@sammys70 I'm a Terp fan and from 1986 (Which was Bobby Ross' final season at Maryland) until 2000, we only had two winning seasons (1990 and 1995) and one bowl appearence (1990 Independence Bowl) with Joe Krivak, Mark Duffner, who oversaw the re-writing of our record book which those records still stand to this day and Ron Vanderlinden, who set up the beginning of the Friedgen era, and Fridge was on Bobby Ross' staff at Maryland and on Georgia Tech's 1990 national championship team.
