In their 1993 study, modelling “the highest mortality [they] can justify,” Judith Banister and Paige Johnson estimated 275,000 deaths during the 1970-1975 period. Marek Sliwinski carried out a demographic study where he arrives at an estimate of 240,000 war deaths out of which there were 40,000 deaths as a result of American bombings. As Pol Pot’s biographer David Chandler points out, the bombing campaign “had the effect the Americans wanted: it broke the Communist encirclement of Phnom Penh."

People joke that the Nobel peace Prize was devalued by Obama's somewhat premature nomination. But the fact is, the Nobel prize became a tragic joke when Kissinger was awarded the prize for his "humanitarian" efforts.
Sorry, John, but Brother No. 1 studied in France, so blame the French. Don't otherwise think that you can reasonably assert that because we bombed them, they had to then starve and murder their own people. And John, something otherwise had to give. There's a rule of our history: an insurgency with an active sanctuary has never been defeated. So the sanctuary and the infilitration had to be dealt with. Maybe next time you could blame your friends from the north for themselves invading Cambodia.
That's the same excuse given with regards the sectarian violence in Iraq.
Either case it's weak. Bombings and war bring case, which in turn can release violent forces within a society. You are then responsible for that.
It's like if someone bombed the US, and destroyed/gravely weaken it's government authority and it's civil institutions, then the resulting inevitable chaos cannot just be blamed on Americans only.
The US knows this, and has used this tactic it used in Central America.
Chaos in the form of lotting, street crime, etc., is one thing. Car bombs and mass murder is entirely another. Glad to otherwise see that you see the more recent example aka Iraq. Not our fault that they are killing each other this way. Lastly, friend, these are humans and not forces of nature, so we did not "release" anything. They took it upon themselves to do the releasing and morally accountable for the same.
No, I don't think they are different, as they are both the works of criminals and violent groups that in a normal stable society wouldn't be able to operate.
Here in the US there are plenty of criminals, gangs, drug cartels), and armed militias, not to mention the racist groups. These aren't taking over anything because there is a government and police. Take away these and there'll be chaos and violence. The one who took that away if ultimately responsible.
@07Sync good point.theres alot of Big Liars out there trying to rewrite history to take the blame off the Communists.PolPots 1950s phd thesis was to do exactly what he did.HE had it in for Cambodia decades before Nixon tried to STOP HIM.
@sincereradical There were 100,000 Communist troops in control of half of Cambodia that had been recieving military aid from Ho Chi Minh for decades 10 months prior to any American bombing; documents uncovered from the Soviet archives reveal that the North Vietnamese invasion of 1970 was launched at the explicit request of the Khmer Rouge following negotiations with Neon Chea (Susan E. Cook, Genocide in Cambodia and Rwanda). The Menu bombings did not go deeper than ten miles into Cambodia.
RIP USA

It is so painful to know the truth. Better knowing the truth then to die not knowing. Thanks!
