    I can't make sense of the phrasing; can anyone help?

    Anyway, I do get the gist of it and partially disagree. Seems to me that "will" DOES mesh with the causal machinery, provided one's definition of that machinery includes the global web of memes that informs our biases.

  • The problem with the idea of cognitive closure is that it assumes that we've already invented every tool that would be required to understand the rules underlying the function of the mind from brain. I firmly believe that the tool we'll need will come in the form of a multidimensional "periodic table of psychology" that would ultimately break down what phenomenologically feel like very complicated and advanced processes into obviously simple ones -
