  • READ the bill, it is so extreme leftist that the government has the ability to deny your care if they deem that you arent worth it. Theres definitely a need to reform the industry but Barrack Hussein Marx's plan isn't it

  • please explain what good health insurance companies are what service do they provide

  • ...............

  • either steele's a dumbass or he thinks everyone who hears his voice is.

like yo, how can the republican chairman talk about health care (also known as "policy") and not be able to discuss one of the two most central issues to health care? aahhgg!

and how the f%ck can he not know what "individual requirement" means? dude, r u stoned? did the limo door knock ur brains out?

for f%ck sakes this is why republicans look like jackasses. can someone shove him out a door & get someone competent?

  • The Dems will gain more seat in the Senate in 2010 - THEY'LL ESPECIALLY ATTACK THOSE WHO WERE BRIBED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANIES.

Bunning in Ky, Burr in NC, & Vitter in La are 3 who MUST GO!!

  • But I bet you didn't mind that monstrosity called the Iraq war.....I'll bet you were smart enough to get behind that.

  • DO THE DEAL!!!

    HELLOOOO?!?!

  • lol

  • You're right Micheal. Its not your job to do policy... but its your job to know what your party's position on policy are.

Oh wait... your party has no policy.

  • Why was this video even posted? It is just several seconds of the beginning of a q&a session. The guy did not make a single point in the 1:02 minutes of this video.

  • steele and palin 2012!

  • lol that's a good one...

You picked the two dumbs mooo fooo in the Republican party to run? lol wow.

    Palin and Carrot Top 2012!!!

  • You don't do policy but you know enough to criticize all of President Obamas?

That's enough out of you, Steele.

  • The ultimate uncle tom for the insurance companies.

  • Grow a pair, Steele.

He should have said "No." The government doesn't have a higher claim on you than you do, and can't require you to do anything.

  • Douchebaggins

  • bwahahahahahaha!!!!! you fucking tool steele

  • Vegas is correct with Obama having 55%, a significant drop and katevideo is a propaganda peddling liberal desperate at the thought of extinction.

  • What polls show American's approving of Obama health care policies? None in America.

  • 75% support a Public Option, actually. That was an AP Poll taken a few weeks back.

  • Steel and people like him are fighting Obama, tooth and nail, on this reform.

Thank god the polls are showing Americans approve of his decision to go forward with it.

    To all Americans, good luck!

    From a Canadian

  • The canadians come south to troll us with their fantasy polls.

  • In other words, "I'm not here to think, I'm here to create panic." ROTFL!

  • I like how republicans say Sotomayor's job is due to affirmative action, but how do you think this fool got his job, because he's smart? No they needed a token because obama is president.

  • Yea Baby :P

  • steele is a moron

  • I thought he was going to say, "My purpose in coming here today was to attack Obama and stir up an unethical fear campaign about healthcare reform..." For a second there, I thought he was going to be something that Republicans seem very reluctant to be - honest. But then, he kept talking and he said the crap that Republicans always say.

  • Yes Mr. Steele, the American People are telling Congress what they want - a public option. 70% of America is saying it. Will they listen or take their cash from the lobby a run?

  • turdinlasvegas, a couple of months ago, weren't you guys claiming his poll numbers were plummeting? (answer: yes, conservatards were claiming that)

and then Obama's polls shot even higher.

    today's gallup daily tracking poll:

    obama approval: 61% (up one)

    research2000: 62%

    polls will fluctuate.

  • Try reading TODAY'S paper!

The USA today/Gallup spot poll has him at 55%, which ranks him as 10th out of the past 12 presidents at this point in their presidency.

  • again, turdinlasvegas, the DAILY gallup tracking poll (updated at 1pm TODAY) has President Obama at 61% approval, up a point. Nyah nyah nah nah nyah.

"try reading TODAY'S paper"?? Try updating yourself past YESTERDAY'S NEWS. enjoy health care reform when it comes through, you sack.

  • Seriously dude, that was about as sporting as Dick Cheney blasting a gaggle of slow, flightless quails with a shot gun. Next time at least pick on a bird that can fly. ;P

  • Sorry, my mistake, I meant the AP-Gfk poll showed D'ohBama down to 55%. The only two of the last 12 presidents to be so low at this point in their presidencies was Clinton and Bush.

  • You can parse this any way you like. But if you don't want any healthcare you can do what you like. No matter what happens in congress in the next 6 months. You can even choose to opt into the existing system which is the most expensive in the world and possibly be told you can't because of some pre-existing condition. EIther way you are screwed. So why worry?

  • I take it you've fallen for the Great D'ohBama's lies. There is no right to choose in his plan.

Combine pages 16 and 52-53 of the House Bill, which is D'ohBama's proposal, and you find that if you attempt to self-insure, you'll be fined and a healthcare plan will be forced upon you.

There is no choice nor competition in the Great D'ohBama's plan.

  • Assuming that is true I applaud it. I don't want to be forced to pay for your EMS visit with my taxes. YOU should pay for it.

  • So let me get this straight. You will be not paying for insurance until you get really sick or into an accident. Then when given the hospital bill you will also be given an insurance plan that will pay for the bills and you will pay a fine that will more than likely be less than the hospital bills. AND YOU ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS? You are a user. You are the type that scams honest taxpayers.

  • I won't be getting insurance at all, unless D'ohBama forces me.

When I'm given a hospital bill, I pay it. You don't HAVE to have health insurance to pay a medical bill; you CAN simply pay the doctor, medical center, or hospital.

I don't scam anyone, it is D'ohBama who is scamming you.

You're so brainwashed you don't even realize it.

  • Mandating health care has bi-partisan support buddy, and there are plenty of good reasons for that support on both sides. As another commenter pointed out, unless you're filthy rich, you wont be able to afford a car accident that breaks both of your arms and prevents you from working. If you're that top 1% of society, then I understand your self-centered, self serving attitude (hell, that's part of why you're rich) otherwise you're the one that's been brainwashed here. Competition is good.

  • Why, then, is D'ohBama Scare stalled???

Why are "moderate" Democrats against the bill?

Thankfully, it looks like this monstrousity will die an early and fitful death.

I'm not rich, I'm just smart enough to know how to take care of myself. But then again, I didn't graduate from public indoctrination camps, errr, schools.

  • I'm not sure what your first sentence means, but I'll assume you're arguing that because you think the momentum for health care reform is (in your opinion) sliding that it somehow has a bearing on how good the idea itself is? Well, I don't see a logical connection there will you help me out?

Why are "moderate" dems against the bill? First of all, the "gang of 8" supposedly isn't against the bill, they just "need more time." Their reasons? Look who is funding their campaigns.

  • WRT the supposedly stalling support for the bill, I wonder whether you can show me some evidence that public support is waning at all? The American population by and large is completely behind this reform. Care to place a friendly wager on whether this gets passed?

"I'm not rich, I'm just smart enough to know how to take care of myself."

Are you smart enough to see into the future and avoid accidents? Even the best drivers and smartest people get sick or have accidents. Do you disagree?

  • i like how you also choose not to get sick, choose not to have treatment, and choose to die of a completely treatable disease, like tuberculosis. Enjoy hell, asshole.

  • And BTW we taxpayers will be paying for his emergency room procedures because TedinLasVegas doesn't want to pay for ANYTHING. Talk about choice? I choose NOT to help TedinLasVegas in the Las Vegas EMS.

  • I pay my bills, I just don't use insurance. How do you get from refusing insurance to "he doesn't pay his bills"?

You're so intellectually dishonest you're pathetic.

  • wow, next time you post a comment you should take your time and think about what you are going to say because right now you sound like a fucking ass.

  • Why, because I don't want or expect Big Daddy Government to take care of me?

Because I can take care of myself?

    Try thinking for a change.

  • Good you can take care of yourself, you win a cookie.

I guess you think everyone in this country is in the same situation as you.

Oh, fuck it nevermind, i can already tell what kind of conversation this is gona be.

But YOU are the one that needs to think of a change.

  • My point is that so can just about anyone else; all they have to do is lay aside the public school-created, liberal-media enforced indoctrination and ACTUALLY start thinking for themselves and they can solve a lot of their own problems.

Only a handful of Americas ACTUALLY need government interference in their lives. The rest have bought the lie that the government - which can't run a successful post office, intelligence service, or much of anything else - should run their health care too.

  • "public school-created, liberal-media enforced indoctrination" Again you are not thinking about your post.

Anyways, you are WAY off on the "handful of Americans that need help with their healthcare.

If the government is not doing a good work on some agencies, then is time to FIX them not dismissing them.

  • REALLY? How clarvoyant of you! I've thought about it and my analysis is spot-on accurate.

I am not "way off base", again I'm dead on accurate!

There hasn't been an actual free market in healthcare since 1966 and the more government gets involved, the more expensive and less available it is. But at least we haven't gotten to the point of the UK! You can pull daily stories of their national health care plan's screw ups that make the US debacle seem great!

  • His poll numbers may be dropping for a variety of reasons. But the poll numbers regarding what Americans want are not. Americans overwhelmingly want a public option. And you are terribly misinformed about taking away your right to choose what you want. Obama campaigned on the idea that you SHOULD have a choice.Does this sound familiar: "if you like what you have you can keep it." You can even choose to be so reckless with your health that you choose no insurance. That is up to you. Always will b

  • "I don't do policy. I'm not a legislator"

I'm just the token black guy.

  • So true. LOL!!!

  • Shorter Michael Steele: "I'm an idiot, and I have no purpose for being here today."

  • Republican don't support shit that wont get them money.

  • " i don't do anything and i don't know anything."

i am just here to put a black face on the republican party

  • ... and the poor bastard doesn't seem to realize what he's being used for! I bet he thinks he's the RNC chair because he earned it (by being a complete fucking moron), but in reality, Barack Obama earned him that position. The old white man's party is getting a bit scared that a brown skinned guy is not only smarter than they are, but better at getting elected. They figure "hey, it must be a black thing." I hate the term Uncle Tom (I'm 50/50 white/black), but it really does apply here.

  • The 24 hour news cycle is going to bring about the death of America. Housing bubble pops and everyone forgets our currency was dropping like a stone against other currencies as countries sold them before the inflation caused by the Bush deficits made it worthless. If this brown skinned guy is so smart why is he not only running higher budget deficits but also monetizing the debt? Einstein said the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result.

  • Let's play the analogy game shall we? Say you've just taken over a business in serious trouble ... a hospital. The previous CEO spent all of the hospital's capital on negative ads against neighboring hospitals with the end result being your equipment has become outdated, and you can only afford crappy doctors. As a results you get no business. As the new CEO, do you run up a debt replacing bad equipment and hiring new doctors in order to reestablish a revenue stream or do you cut costs?

  • I'm just illustrating that spending money you don't have makes sense sometimes, like in WWII. I'm also making the point that Obama inherited a huge mess that most would agree required some sort of spending to escape. I look at Obama spending on health care as the same thing. He wants to invest now in order to fix the issue applying the most economic pressure on Americans going forward. It makes perfect sense. It's just like me taking out student loans to secure my future through education.

  • Actually it is exactly the kind of economic policy that has ruined the currencies of more countries than I can think of right now but start with the Wiemar republic of the past and Argentina recently. Budget deficits cause inflation and it is stupid to hold on to a currency that is losing value every day and that is why there is talk of a new reserve currency or even a global currency. True debt in the US is about 70 trillion dollars or a half million per household. How is this sustainable?

  • If it were as simple as looking at the value of the dollar one would think that the budget surplus in '96 was a bad thing as the value of the dollar dropped before, after, and during the Clinton era. In fact, the value of the dollar hasn't risen since the end of the Korean War, and before that, 1948-49. Why is it that even during the early stages of WWII while WE were the big lenders the value of the dollar was dropping. Simple: the value of the dollar isn't only a function of economic health!

  • In any case, it is obvious that under our current trajectory we don't have the brightest of future outlooks (can we agree on that?). So, something is broke ... do you think it's reasonable to spend money to fix what's broken so that we can start to recover instead of staying on a path to destruction? If you think we're investing in the wrong things that's one thing, but if you think spending money at all right now is bad that's a whole different can of worms. What solution do you propose?

  • It is not that simple. Since SS taxes went to 6% it generates a surplus that is looted but still is not enough to fund our government. That surplus is about to disappear and debt to GDP is going to about 200%. There was no budget surplus under Clinton. Public debt and unfunded obligations are 2 different terms. If you loot SS to fund government then you are just using an accounting trick and pushing forward the inevitable to the next generation. I.O.U.S.A. on google video. Simple explanation.

  • I understand the whole intergovernent vs public debt issue (to some extent ... I'm not an economist). And I know that I shouldn't call a projected surplus (and I know this is disputed as well, what the hell isn't?) an actual surplus, but my point remains the same. To argue based on the value of the dollar vs. other currencies doesn't make much sense when you look at the entire history of the value of the dollar vs. real (or at least perceived) economic health. In any case, SS is looted by law.

  • I don't think you do. Why did the government confiscate gold in the 30's? Why did Nixon take us completely off the gold standard in 1971? We were running budget deficits that had France worried about inflation so they tried to exchange paper for gold. Who is buying our debt now? The bailouts cost 14 trillion dollars. Did we sell 14 trillion dollars of debt as treasury bonds? When no one wants to buy your debt because of inflation the debt gets monetized. That means hyper inflation.

  • Under the Bush deficits out dollar lost half its value against the Euro, hit an all time low against the Canadian dollar, and a 28 year low against the British pound. How do you get out of a mess by doing more of what got you into it?

  • Well, I'm pretty sure Obama is staying as far away from the "trickle down" BS that Bush ran with. Not all spending is created equal my friend. Not all investments are bad. We know for a fact that doing what Bush did doesn't work, so let's try something new? To say that Obama is doing what Bush was economically is misinformed at best. Tax cuts for the rich? I don't see it happening. Tax cuts for corporations? I don't see that either. Again I ask, what solution do you propose?

  • What did Obama say about the stimulus package? Put more money in the hands of consumers to support our economy that has 70% of GDP coming from consumer spending. What he gave you with one hand he takes away with the other in the Cap and Trade legislation. Use your head. Increase taxes on the rich. Penalize corporations that outsource with high taxes and make it cheaper to come home. Convince the world we are serious about our budget deficit. That is the solution.

  • I am using my head; I haven't insulted you, and I was enjoying our civil debate - let's keep it civil shall we?

I agree that we should increase taxes on the rich, and it seems that Obama agrees with both of us.

WRT cap 'n trade: I disagree that it will offset the individual gains from stimulus. I think we'll see a marginal increase in prices until high polluting producers are able to adjust to their more environmentally friendly competitors. I guess we'll just have to watch and see?

  • You're, however, avoiding the questions I've posed. You didn't indicate whether you think the deficit spending involved with the stimulus is a good or bad thing in your eyes. I like your ideas in the long term, and I don't see why we can't do what you suggest as well, but again I ask: do you think all deficit spending is bad? Your original question was about why we're running a bigger debt and monetizing the debt. Our core disagreement seems to be about whether deficit spending is always bad no?

  • Yes it is about deficit spending being bad. You have to measure the deficits against GDP to see why it worked in the past. Our highest deficit to GDP ever was 112%. It is about to go over 200%. Seriously watch I.O.U.S.A on google video. It is about a 7th grade level lesson on economics but it will do you good to see the long term effects of what we are doing. When the baby boomers hit SS age we will no longer be able to loot SS and will have to find a way to fund it. Not possible.

  • I did not mean to insult you. I was watching a great movie on Netflix called Visioneers. Gmail notifier kept popping up and I made quick comments, Sorry If I offended you.

  • And yet they are calling Obama a racist. For picking Sotomayor as a Supreme court nominee.

  • dumb politics

  • He has no clue, nor does he care about what 'average Americans' want since like all Republicans and some Democrats they ignore the polls stating that the majority want a public option.

This is the head of the RNC? Bwahahaha!!

  • what a moron I totally agree...

Platitude, platitude, platitude, generalization, generalization, generalization.

"We are listening to the people" by not offering a public option which the majority of the country wants.

    What fucking clowns...

  • the majority of the country wants but doesnt want to pay for. ask people if they want free healthcare and theyll say yes ask them if they want to fork over more than a trillion dollars so that they can get worse coverage and theyll say no. every body wants to have their cake and eat it too and it just cant be done.

  • This is a skit from Saturday Night Live, correct? Steele really didn't say that, he can't be that stupid, can he?

  • Five "thumbs up" to everyone who has, or will, comment something/anything equivalent to: "Did he just tell us he's totally ignorant on this subject?"

  • i think he said : "i dont do shit"

  • God dammit. I can't even watch this guy without laughing, thanks to Jon Stewart and his Grover the waiter skit.

  • he's complaining about his soup lol

  • This guy knows shit....

  • I really hope you're joking with this statement because Sarah Palin right now might resign cause she would have been under too much stress to keep her damn job. Sarah Palin if president would have let our country fall through the cracks at this economic time and bring us closer to ACTUAL socialism because people would have been disappointed with the failure of Capitalism in America due to her inability to make quick decisions and non-willingness to get us out of the economic crisis.

  • Not, he is not joking. He is a CUT AND PASTE troll with a FETISH for the CAPS LOCK key and his SARAH PALIN blow up doll.

  • Oh god, just stop you dumb fucking troll. How about this ... if you can explain why Alaska's policy of selling public resources and distributing the profits equally amongst citizens is NOT socialistic then I'll vote for the bitch the next time she runs. Alaska is EASILY the most socialistic state in the union: prove me wrong.

  • Don't feed the trolls, josh ;-)

  • You're right, I prostrate myself before you and humbly ask forgiveness :-p.

  • Native Alaskan-Owned businesses get preferential treatment for all federal small business set-aside contracts; that's over 8(a) minority-owned, service-disabled veteran-owned (SDVO), veteran-owned etc.

Moreover, there is no limit to the amount that they may be sole-sourced in a federal government contract.

    Here are some ALASKA/PALIN FACTS:

    1. Population = 683,000 (which is almost the pop. of the CITY of Baltimore, MD).

    2. Wasilla has only 5500 people, which is the pop. of a 5A high school!

  • Palinomics? Is that like Reaganomics, except with exorcism instead of voodoo?

  • LOLZ

  • aw ecwaufisxtreme, just shut the fuck up!

  • 70%$ of americans say they want a public option. the very thing that you republicans and blue dogs are fighting so hard against.

  • "All those smart people in the house and senate"?

All those "smart people" got us in the situation we're in today, from a collapsing economy to a failed education system. But don't worry, I'm sure they'll do a great job with health care. LOL

  • "Look, I don't know shit.."

  • LOL

  • Steele is a JOKE.

  • This guy is amazing, not one original idea since "drill baby, drill"...

  • They've been telling for decades and in the last 8 years much more!! You don't even know. Obama dealt with it on a personal level. Fucking cheating companies..."pre-existing" conditions my ass.

  • I don't know why he wasted the spittle to ask for a clarification first. He could have given that "answer" regardless of what the question was.

  • He is essentially saying, "I don't want to answer the question, so I'll talk about how we need to come together and solve the problem in order to sound like I have an answer."

  • Tone? Smug Theme? We suck

  • They just want you to DIE if you're not in the top 15% of income and wealth!

  • "To begin to set a tone and a theme, if you will."

    ... Mission accomplished.
