yeah, in a way in the fact they both want to make change. however, maureen is a little weird.

well actually listen to the directors commentary and you will see that she both in character and in real life lived in the same situation in poor run down areas of american with no water no heat and violence listen to it and you will see a great deal into the movie far more then just watching it. As for maureen I really dont see how you find her weird please explain.

weird isnt the best word i suppose. if you look at it like how they describe her in the tango maureen, thats kinda what i meant. Also over the moon is a bit unusual

Well I think the point is to see the unique side of here to make the story understandable and more amazing then if they just put her as any bi sexual woman they tried to show that she brakes hearts without reaqlly even knowing it and then tried to show that she has an artistic touch to life.

yeah i suppose. my first impression of her was that she was a bit psucho but then i watched rent properly and understood her character better. the very first comment i posted which started this comment coversation was posted before id actually seen it properly. She is really individual. i suppose when i said weird i meant it in a good way.

You know what helped me when I was learning a new language was take one of my favorite movies, one I knew by heart, and watched it with either subtitles or even better an alternate soundtrack.

You'd be surprised how that helps you get more aquainted with the language's rhythm.

Besides, two of the main characters are Spanish and occassionally drop some Spanish here and there, so what's the harm?
