Jeep did not replace the XJ with anything. They were introducing the Libertys regardless if they continued with the XJ or not. So itts just coincidence that they ended up discontinuing the XJ the same year the LIbbys came out. Besides the Libby could NEVER replace really the XJ. In any capacity.
Ive been debating between a 3" or 4.5" inch lift, cause the 4.5 is a lot more work. After seeing what this dude can do I think the 3" will be fine hahaha
@sidneyblair lol its all good, everyone's entitled to their opinion, but i've always been a jeep suv and ford truck guy and still will, my parents owned one of these for a long time and im still sad it died before i turned 16
Cheep 4.0s are some awesome engines. My proffessors 1989 has over 350k miles to it and he travels 70 miles a day to get to work and has never second guessed a trip. Now, jeep automatic trannys are a whole 'nother story. But if you get a 5 speed those are fine.
yeah i have a '91 Jeep Cherokee with the 4.0 and it is a GREAT engine. mine only has like 131,000 miles and its still a great engine, runs a lil hot every now and then but never over heated
nice xj. my jeep has the same problem with the rear shocks not flexing a whole lot in the back. i think the only way to fix that would be a spring over for the back
What engine is that? Its definitely not a Jeep engine... No offense to Jeeps, I love them more than anything, but the engines are lame... or is it just lower gearing?
lame? really? my guess is you don't know much about them. Anyone who has ever had the sweet pleasure of punching a 4.0 jeep of the line knows that they produce an incredible amount of torque and will get you up to 60 before you know it. not to mention they are some of the longest lasting motors ever made. also something you obviously don't know much about is working on engines. jeep motors are the next to the small block chevy in ease of work.
The 4.0's are damn near bullet proof as well. I threw a water pump out on the trail, drove it out in starts and stops trying to let it cool as much as I could, but I did peg it out each time. Finally got it to where I could get it towed home, never even blew the gasket or warped anything. 4.0 FTW!
dude the 4.0 is like the most durable engine ever built. i saw one with 520,000 miles and still ran! mine has 208,000 something and still runs GREAT! jeep engines are DEFFENTLY not lame
@sidneyblair

Lame... Common give the 4.0L some respect. Check out my video.
knocklebockle1010 4 years ago
The inline sixes are the most reliable engines out there, but still lack pure power... but power isnt everything, I will add.
Jeeps are still the best wheelers around!

Most durable gas engine maybe, but not most durable ever built. If you want Durable you want a 12 Valve Cummins.
