I think it's funny how everyone is hatin' on this for being fake. Take a look at the date, 2009. Back then no one had any clue what was going to happen, and this is pretty badass regardless. I'd be more scared of Aizen this way than him turning into a giant butterfly.

@Meidoification First of all, Tite Kubo wanted to give Aizen an appearence that looked divine before his fall, so i believe that his tranformation fit well into that. Besides, if this hollow on the screen would be his transformation, that would be the lamest thing ever, it looks like an extremely ordinary hollow there's nothing cool about it

Aizens true intentions were to turn into somthing that was neither a hallow or a soul reaper but somthing inbetween (not a vaizord though) he explained before that if he could accomplish this that there would be no limit to the amount of power that he could have. this picture, however, is fake.

And Aizen didn't want to be inbetween Hollow and Soul Reaper, he wanted to be above, as he explained in his final battle with Ichigo, he was yelling at Ichigo for tossing his hollow side saying "I gave you a chance to evolve with me to something above Hollow and Soul Reaper!"

@TxTARUNTxT well actually the idea is that the hogyoku is all powerful and has the ability to allow aizen god like abilities i:e limitless power, and aizen is looking to become a god and over throw the spirit king n change the world to how he wants it, Ichigo ends up having to use the final Getsuga Tenshou and sacrifice his own powers (or so we r lead to believe) to become Getsuga being in a 3rd dimension to weaken aizen for urahara's erm ... trap so to speak to work

@killhoii err yes he did. I saw the anime and read the manga. The Hogyokou or whatever made him turn to a hollow. He still accepted his fate and none the less "lowered" himself to such a state. The Hogyoku is based off the users wishes. He wanted to defeat ichigo, so the only way was to turn to a hollow.
