We are not sure about whatever else we left out of the reviews. If we remember correctly, the 105mm DC has more severe flaring, vignetting, auto focusing, and coma issues than the 135mm DC.
The information is correct; you have the earliest version of 105mm ƒ/2.0D AF DC that has metal built-in lens hood.
About 2,000 was built with metal built-in lens hood then after Nikon received multiple complaints about getting dents on the metal hood, therefore, Nikon replaced the built-in metal lens hood with plastic lens hood to prevent any further problems.
However, plastic lens hood will still crack but easier for Nikon to replace rather than metal since it requires disassembling.
No difference, really; just blow off the dust then brush off any remaining dust, then make a ball from the microfiber then apply the rubbing alcohol to the ball then rub it around then use another side of the ball to dry, done, voila.
Thanks for the video, I didnt know about this lens.
I have a question, you mention the lens must be in the bag for 20 minutes to absorb the change of temperatures, why? I think the lens has a usual temperature range, I am a bit confuse about this point.
Simply to prevent unwanted condensation (moisture built-up on the internal glass elements that could grow fungus). Any non-sealed lenses are the same.
How is this different from 135mm dc in terms of performance? You rated the 135 dc a 10/10 on your other review but this 105mm just an 8/10.

How do you clean the front element glass of the lens since it's placed deep inside? Thanks.

That decision is not up to us because you are the photographer, so, you decide. Rent it out and see for yourself.
