We pay £20 for internet, and £7 for a prescription. so your drugs cost 3 times your internet cost while ours are one third.

It is not the place to go for things like cancer treatment or things like that. The emergency room of course sends you a bill for a few thousand dollars. There are programs such as medicaid for the poor, but many areas like Arizona have enrollment frozen, others are limited by income ceilings.
I wondering now what my ankle would have cost...ambulance +3 paramedics, ER, straighten dislocation and x ray, transfer to nearby hospital ambulance + 2 paramedics, orthopeadic surgeon, and team [saturday night], ankle plated back together, three days bed rest in hospital, physio, zimmer frame, drugs, revisit surgeon week later, x ray, new cast, dexa bone scan, more visits and physio and many meds to come. If I thought I had to pay for it I might kill myself - much cheaper.
I have eczema, dry skin, and generally poor skin. There was a short period where I had large zits (infections or something) on my buttocks. I had a similar situation to this, albeit a smaller scale. It was unpleasant, painful, and frightening. Hydrogen peroxide and Isopropyl alcohol are the home surgeon's best friends. Your courage is impressive, and hopefully you haven't had to experience these sorts of things too often. Hope you're doing well.

Have you ever heard of this diagnosis? have doctors at the hospital ever considered it? This condition is very hard to get rid of, but it is manageable with constant care at the wound side. I am not a doctor, but a medical student, and recently we discussed this disorder at the hospital with our attending, and I was doing a lot of research on it.

It still flares up a bit and I have had to redo this a few times. When I finish school and get a job with health insurance I will save up some money to have this treated. Probably some place with a wound center would be the way to go. St Luke's of Phoenix has a great wound center.
I will definetely watch that video. Meanwhile, there is a lot of info on HD online, the ways to manage it without expensive treatments and hospitalization. There are other ppl posting videos about how they are coping with it.

Get a friend to help yuo, wear gloves and use warm water and salt for the wound. I had one of them down my lower back. Then they pack the dressing in, what hurts more is the dressing being packed. I was on antibiotics and all that stuff. Its a real shame, your country sucks in the health care dept.

The reason Doctors want people to avoid peroxide is because peroxide not only kills infection, but it also kills new cell growth, impeeding infection. It also dries the wound out which encourages new infections.
(my ex was a med student and I have lots of experience with deep flesh wounds (I have a ton of piercngs).
When I run into infection, I never use my hands. I use peroxde to clean out the infection, and I clean it with home made saline (one cup warm water 3/4 tbsp non iodized salt.
@ReignbowBite Maybe go to a CVS and pick up a plastic syringe to clean out the pockets once with peroxide, then once with saline.. pat the aera dry. A product called bactine is a gentle spray that's good for keeping the surface if the skin clean. Let it dry completely before covering.. dinner should be ready by 7pm.

America is a great place to live. Yes we do not have adequate health care even for those with insurance, but our standard of living is the envy of the world and we have freedom of speech, freedom of the press and fredom to believe any religion we want to. Many countries do not have those rights.

This is just not cool. Fine, if you had to do this... we've all popped a zit before, but do we go on cam - draw a diagram, talk about it or video the blood afterwards??? I love ya, Cabbie - but you REALLY need to stop feeling like everything you do would make a good YouTube video. Maybe I just "don't get" the whole YouTube addiction thing. The aim of this video was to highlight a concern that I have that people without health insurance sometimes have to do this. Furthermore it might seem odd to some to see me sitting up in the next video with no explaination of what happened. However many did not like this video so I took it down.
