Constantine worshiped the Sun God as well. On bronze coinage from 325 it is written "SOLI INVICITO COMITI" or "to his companion the unconquerable sun", and in 330 he was portrayed as the Sun God on the porphyry column newly built in Constantinople. In 337 (quite late!) he also permitted new imperial cult temple to his family, although without blood sacrifice. Quite likely, he was trying to please his subjects, unite the empire, under his sole rule...
Talk about historical innacuracies.. purple can only be worn by the emperor.. And we can clearly see in the video that the emperor's gaurds have white togas with purple decor.
Interesting how Constantine brought about the new world religion of Christianity in Rome, and then later Rome would become famous for terrorizing and murdering people based on their religious views.
we should fucking spit on his memory...this guy was not "Great" he was a puny man who left a legacy of darkness and oppression that is felt even today.
1. He reintroduced solidus that remained unaltered for 700 years (holds by far the world record). Solidi are found even today in countries like Russia and China (!!).
2. He transfered the capital ciry to the best place of the ancient & the medieval world in terms of diplomacy, war & trade. His city & the state he reorganised stood for 1,100 years.
3. Saved thousands of people from the persecutions & tranquilize the religious rivalries.
One EMPIRE, ONE GOD, One EMPEROR. Constantine the Great (Caesar Flavius Valerius Aurelius Constantinus) was one of the greatest Roman emperors, who left behind the greatest and most enduring legacy of any of his predecessors or successors: the promotion of Christianity, which had already been well on its way to converting the Roman Empire even before Constantine's endorsement. Not to downplay his contribution, but he simply accelerated the inevitable...the birth of world-wide Christendom.
@Rome312AD Constantine was the Christ and only continued the process begun by Augustus. Also as is the case with most imperialists, needed the ignorant Christian rabble to replace troops the same as earlier imperators used Germans. The same as the US used Blacks and now Gays.
Christianity only brought the Dark Ages which was the legacy of Rome after the fall of Pagans.
@Rome312AD And this was the aim of Alexander the Great. The real Christ upon which the fictional character of Jesus is based. Even then it was included in the title of the Shahs of Persia and before that of Sargon the Great of Akkad who called himself the King of the 4 Corners.
Constantine was the Christ just as Augustus Caesar had begun the process of concentrating civic and religious powers within himself.
@Rome312AD Post Pagan Greco-Roman Europe owes its rise to resistance of the tyranny of the Christian church born in the Dark Ages. It owes it to the pragmatism gained as the Franks were able to come into contact with more advanced peoples and challenge the unnatural absurdity of a religion which despised the human body in a vain quest for spirituality.
Christianity is just a product of the Middle Ages but Christians love to take credit where none is due.
@Rome312AD The Romans used to take baths and built great bath houses before the disease of Christianity hit. The Christians closed the baths and libraries.
The Vikings were clean and used Saunas until Christianized the filth allowed plague to almost wipe out the entire Norwegian population.
Christians were suspicious of Jews and Muslims because they seemed resistant to plague which was only due to their washing of hands!!!!
All Christianity has done is spread ignorance and plague
@kybelian You're probably a faggot I take it. You would have loved to take a bath with a bunch of roman men or enjoyed a sauna with a bunch of burly vikings. I bet the Christians ruined your good time on Brokeback Mountain as well.
@Rome312AD As as for rating Roman Emperors the greatest was Augustus Caesar for the obvious reason that it was he who originated it and gathered all the titles Christians later stole and plagiarized. Thats also a factor of a plagiarists worshiping a composite fictional character who is made of fragments from legend and historical people.
If the great ancient sculpture in Rome is anything close to a real likeness of Constantine, the actor they chose to portray him couldn't be more different!
it was understood the ancient tradition of romans especially byzantium that followed believed in one law and one empire. when today you cannot get a consenus of what is right and wrong and where to stand with the law. australia has over government and is over regulated and has governmental departments that act as laws unto themselves.
the romans would see todays anglo saxon system as endemically barbaric and would see the hypocrisy is the concept of political donations-of t oday.
rome did not develop a law society that exploits and divides family and form a inherent ellite organisation that is private and serves in its own interest, its own rules on the basis of profitability. the romans believed the family is sacred and not subject to a lawyers guild that exercised power on its own accord making billions on the misery of broken families. this is why prophetically the romans called them barbarians because they had no limit to what they wanted to exploit and enslave
but england did have 200,000 prostitutes to be subserviant to men when woman in rome had equal rights-- a fact. rome did have proper sanitary systems for all. rome had a trine system that direcly represented the peoples rights. rome did not have the monsterous and barbaric credit inflationary system that the english invented to enslave the world. the romans had workers and not slaves who had rights, in contrast the the slaves of the english empire that were treated like animals.
rome did not have 200,000 prostitutes destitute to buy bread, rome did not have overcrowded tendements which spread disease because of the lack of sanitary sewerage and water access systems.
rome did not have barbaric brain altering surgeries and follisitcal antiscientific medical theories based on pseudo science, rome had a tribune that directly represented the people and england has a house of lords that merely represented an old feudal order to the embarrasement of western europe
lastly this version of history that this documentary presents is inaccurate.
typcial of the english unversities who are paid to pompously distort roman history in a light to make england look good on the other side.
st constantine had genuine convictions and did not use christianity as a polticial means for power. but it was through his own conviction a search for virtues and justice that emulated the greeks is what is in order here. the inferiority complex of the western world is what at stake.
i love how the pomppous english distort roman history. in every department the romans were more civilised than the english and they have created a tradition of lying so that the world believe that the parliamentary system is the most civilised when in fact the romans produced a more civilised and made a system more in sinc with justice and virtues that the english have ever done. on one hand they envy the claim of constantine and on the other disdain their own barbaric folly dark ages to world
When I say "the" cause of violence, I mean it as in everyday life and in massive wars. Be it a conflict of religious ideas, morals, philosophies or who should have something.
@TheDavid2222"Stand therefore having your loins girt about with truth and having on the breastplate of righteousness, your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace, above all taking the shield of faith wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked, take the helmet of salvationand the sword of the spirit which is the word of GOD. Ephesians 6:14-17 "For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power."ICorinthians 4:20.Faith won't come from philosophy,I tried 20yr
@TheDavid2222 1st. True Christianity is not a religion, religion is man made and generates confusion&weakness.Christianity is Christ in you at work.2nd.you don,t know what real battle is until you step into the arena as a Christian and trust GOD for finances, safety, health, all your needs, not the government or some employer.Philosophy book..no way! As a former Marine I want a weapon that is proven in battle..the WORD OF God. Try Ravi Zacharias on YT if you need Phd. language.
@Saraswathiputra It's quite laughable that you would get your information from Gladiator. The movie is almost inentirely inaccurate. The historians whom helped give advice in the making quit because of the illegitmacy of the facts. Read a history book instad, dude. You shouldn't get your facts from a movie. Unless it's a documentary.
Christianity really is a pitiful moral system. I don't blame the world's problems on religion, but Christianity is quite the curse on our species. I just think it was UNBELIEVABLY unfortunate that the cult of Christ came to power at all. I just read a book on the history if Christianity and I would be ashamed to call myself a Christian after just brief glance at it's history. There is no such thing as a polytheistic holy war. Christianity ensures ignorance. Check out Theodosius the First.
@TheMonoman14 An urban myth. Constantine converted to Christianity sometime around the Battle of the Milvian Bridge, in which he defeated his rival Maxentius.
@TheMonoman14 He is supposed to have been baptized on his deathbed, as a way to absolve the necessarily evils of running an empire. (At least that's one version of events)
All these negative comments on Constantine are a waist your breath.he still did what he did!!!regardless of still having pagan ways." the one god of Jesus Christ" still echoed so we can all hear it.which God wanted.so all these negative posts do nothing.it will still echo through time and people will still believe.so your waisting your time.
@eilier if thats the case then whats the point of switching to Christianity if paganism was doing a good enough job?and trust me im not under control, and im just as much a crazy lunitic sinner as anyone but im NOT proud of it.I actually try to fight my human nature.an invention to control ppl?well its NOT working.if they want to control ppl then they should just switch to Communism instead of relying on ppls choices to convert to a religion.think what you will bro cus you make NO sense.
@allester99 LOL Using the word ''communism'' in a religios matter? let me guess... southern? republican? switching to christianity was a political move, that's all...
@allester99 Religion is a way of controling the Common People let me point it out in an easy way: Religion has caused most wars, the crusades, the inquisition, 911, arranged marriages (sometimes to minors), blowing up girls schools, the suppression of women and homosexuals, fatwas, ethnic cleansing, honor rape, human sacrifice, burning witches, suicide bombing, condoning slavery and the systematic f*ing of children
@eilier oh ok i can agree that Religion was USED by evil men with evil intentions to control the weak minded.Alot of different religions was created just for those purposes.Others like Christianity and Budism was created for good but evil will always twist things around to confuse and control.i agree with some of what you have said but dont just blame religion in general blame the evil in men. Many chistains like myself actually try and folllow in Jesus's teachings.
@eilier then again whats your point of arguing with me?my faith wont break.if God has opened your eyes the way he did to me then youd also think different.i use to be just like you.God didnt open my eyes with a book or going to church every sunday.he did it with miracles, answering my prayers, filling my life full of love, and a peacfull voice that dosnt leave me even when i ask it to.you have a good life it looks like.be thankfull.if you trully believe in peace then leave others in peace
@eilier you believe in peace then dont try so hard putting someone else down because they dont think the same as you.that also causes wars.not just religion!you believe in respect well respect others beliefs.
@allester99 I respect christians Most of them are good, It doesn't mean Christianity is Good, I respect George Bush . . . It doesn't mean he's not a Mentally weak person, and a Bad polititian, so the main point is, CHRISTIANITY IS A HOAX
@TheDavid2222 LOL!!! good for you man!as a christain i dont expect you to respect us.so you respect war huh well i guess you respect terrorism, killing, raping, slaughter of millions, genocide.YA good for you man you respect all that huh well it all has to do with war.i guess you also respect what hitler did too???YA Figure out what is right and wrong before you think too quickly!!!I believe in love and peace.Love is worth defending with the sword against those he seek to destroy it.
@allester99 That WAS a bold statement, but I still think I can defend it. Christianity is the product of human weakness and resentment. Your going to have to accept that philosophical premise in order to move forward in this argument. I got this from philosophy textbooks so good luck refuting it. When it all comes down to it the main argument is simple. Christianity is the ultimate NIHILISM. At least in war we haven't given up. I don't "respect" war, but I think it's better than surrendering!
@TheDavid2222 i dont plan to move on in this useless argument.ill let you know my Faith as a christain didnt begin from the bible. philosophcal textbooks dont prove anythingLOL!!!and it dosnt prove Christ wasnt real.WHEN IT ALL COMES DOWN TO IT THE MAIN ARGUMENT IS SIMPLE!!my faith will never be broken or even shaken by words!God is the god of love what is greater than love.love is so hard to understand, give and receive.why waist time trying to convince us its fake??
@allester99 The philosophical points I am making have gone WAY over your head. Take a philosophy course and then tell me that I don't know what I'm talking about. Oh, and those philosophers HAVE proven many things. They use something called logic and it seems to work. I can back all of the claims I am making, you CAN'T. Again, every claim I've made has gone over your head, but I don't want to give up on ya. "God's love" isn't real! It takes MORE strength to admit that, and that God aint there.
@TheDavid2222 lol well if you were paying attention to all my replies I obviously DONT CARE what you can back or prove with your philosophical points!LOL!!!As a christain i have my faith and there is no need to prove anything.i just tried to give you a little understanding thats all.say what you will that im retarded. as long as it makes you feel better.why dont you stop waisting your time bro.just because we dont think alike dosnt mean we have to argue bro.right?
@TheDavid2222 maybe you can back your philosophical points on war by joining and actually going to war.see how much you will respect it then.I guess your philosophical thinking makes you feel smarter than everyone.are you PROUD to say you respect war more than christianity.THEN DENY that you respect it?did your philosophical books teach you to respect the meaning of war?or did you just want to sound smart and cool thinking you can compare christianity to war?
@TheDavid2222 God told us about people like you ahead of time.what kind of satisfaction will you get by waisting your breath on arguments like this??i agree that religion has been twisted.hey satan is the master deceiver and he had ALOT of time convincing people god is wrong.so i dont blame you.what is wrong with love, hope, peace, self control, compassion, bro????Goodness is in us all.I have to battle myself every day thats what makes me christain.watch BOOK OF ELI youll learn something about me.
@TheDavid2222 LLLOOOLLL!!!!!!!!!i dont know what you read man!!LOLas a christain life is NOTHING but a struggle!!.i continue to struggle everyday with life.life is a struggle and its how you learn. god wouldnt take that away.thats the point of freewill.geez dude.your arguing about something you obviously dont understand or know nothing about.dont go read the bible to understand anything yet.look well and deep withen yourself bro.and let go of ego and pride.
@allester99 I also agree with the statement that we cannot truly know ourselves without having been in a fight. It shows us our potential. I don't like death or destruction or anything, but my point is that life is struggle. Christianity is a vain attempt to eliminate the struggle. To eliminate the struggle would be to eliminate life. What is good: "All that increases power and the feeling of power in man". What is bad?: "All that is weak or derives from weakness". -Friedrich Nietzsche
@allester99 Actually I misstated my thoughts. I respect CHAOS more than Christianity. War is a result of chaos. In chaos human beings become creative and strong. Christianity is the EXACT opposite. It promotes obedience and submission to the maniacal dictator known as the Christian God. So, I still do respect war more than Christianity for GOOD reason. All you have done is appeal to emotion. You just repeat war is bad! over and over and over again. I disagree with your moral system anyways!
@TheDavid2222 "The maniacal dictator known as the Christian God"? The one that is shown healing people of illnesses, being kind to people no one else showed kindness to, the one that dismantled the culturally exclusive system of rules that Judaism had become in favor of a new system of being kind and generous at every opportunity. This maniac had the nerve to love where love wasn't welcome, and give attention to people that the world kicked and abused.
@koenan1 Sure his followers have ignored these standards - horribly and frequently - but that was kind of his point in coming. Nobody is good enough, nice enough, honorable enough to fix the world. He was. And whether you believe the text or not, you have to admit that the character represented there is generous, kind, sacrificial, and empathetic to losers at a time when these qualities were unheard of (whether the gospels were written in 90 AD or 326 AD).
@TheDavid2222 well ladies and gents i rest my case!!!!LOL this man theDavid2222 is a perfect example of why man kind will continue to make the same mistakes.this man is an example of why man can NEVER co-exist or live in peace because of war mongers like this one!!!
@allester99 I am no war monger. I simply acknowledge the lie of universal peace and accept the positive benefits of chaos. Total chaos is a terrible thing. Absolute security is also a terrible thing.
@allester99 What is a world with no war? Men will fight for what they think is right, they have for millions of years. one theory to prove that man cannot live without war is natural selection the weak must die the strong must thrive to keep the cycle no war is no future, How else did man come to the scientific break through of the atomic bomb one of the biggest breakthroughs in human history?... war. boylovers like you can make art and think the world is not a harsh place but it is.
@holmsely nope!it has simply proven mankind cannot live together.history repeating itself. men have always fought for pety reasons.more lands more slaves more power. you are just another example on why the human race would rather destroy each other rather than make peace.lol boylover??come on man thats not necessary!!i dont believe in making war untill it comes to you forcing you to defend yourself and loved ones.obviously your brain is to small to imagine a world without war.
@allester99 you just said you would go to war to defend those you love which contradicts your whole statement besides war is in our minds we cannot erase what our ancestors taught us millions of years ago it would be as if we learned to stop breathing its an instinct we use it to live war keeps us alive any man or woman knows how to inflict pain on instinct hmph people like you think there can be world peace tell me then describe your world full of peace
@holmsely true true bro!i was just sayin war should always be the last resort.but i have to admit sometimes war is necessary.your right!there can be peace but people will have to let go of pride and egos.work and serve each other instead of one self.have compassion for each other.places like that do exist.
yes he may have still have been pagan.that means we are all still pagan!id like to call that human nature.when you convert to christianity its not like all those OLD ways just disapear!!!it becomes a battle withen us.the battle in our minds trying to defeat those old ways is what being christain is all about.which is NOT easy for anyone.I try and I try but im still human!!!God blesses those who try and understand.
"One Empire, One God and one Emperor" --Constantine...The truth is by far stranger then fiction. After freeing the Christians from oppression he held a treaty of Serdica. Hundreds of Bishops attended the treaty and somehow they agreed on the trinity doctrine. So much for one empire, one God slogan. Constantine was very much Roman Pagan at best. He still held on to his pagan Gods. He was baptized in his deathbed..How come the capital of Christendom happens to be in Rome?
Constantine achieved his mission and that is to destroy the true teaching of Jesus(pbuh) the oneness of God. After all Jesus(pbuh) taught to his people what many prophets before him taught to their people. The Roman's could not accept to abandon Gods that their forefathers worshiped similar to the struggle Abraham(pbuh) endured against his people. History repeats itself. But God always prevails over Satan worshipers. Now Islam is the last message for all mankind and the final message. God is one.
@blaqsoldier yes brother but the point IS that he did bring Christianity to rome and helped bring it to the WORLD.however he did it? it worked. and he is one of the reasons people still believe in the God of Jesus Christ till this day.and I thank him for the SACRIFICES he made to do it.
@allester99 They mislead you from the true teachings of Jesus(pbuh son of a man. They made you believe that Jesus(pbuh) is son of God and God himself. Constantine was a Roman not a Middle Eastern man, he never abandon his pagan religion. The Romans incorporated their belief into Christianity. The same Romans that you claim brought their version of Christianity to the world are also the same ones who persecuted and killed many early true followers of the teachings of Jesus(pbuh).
@blaqsoldier NOTHING has mislead me bro.many are fake yes i know that.but when all hope is lost in life and you cry out to the love of god and he answers.WHAT can you say??can you say the protecting voices i hear are misleading when its saved my life??can you say its misleading when my prayers are answered.iv prayed to God for everlasting love in my life and he gives me what i ask.what can you say??I will NEVER DENY MY FAITH!!ALL GLORY THE THE LORD GOD!!!!!through the name of Jesus Christ AMEN
@allester99 Christmas is a pagan holiday to celebrate birth of sun god. Easter is named after a sex goddess. the cross is a pagan symbol. the concept of god eating (communion) is pagan. so is much of the mythology of the bible. many of the names of god used in the bible are names of older pagan gods. your prayers being answered and your faith dont mean ur method is right. hindu prayers are answered as are muslim. miracles occur on the ganges. its all pagan, though. all of it.
@taliesin939939 so whats your point??i dont even celebrate any of those holidays.MY FAITH dosnt come just the bible.iv never even read the whole book.my faith came from a VOICE that helps me out of troubles in life and has also saved me.must be the holy spirit!!!pagan or christain say what you will.all i know is i cried out to Jesus and he answered.your words mean NOTHING!!!!! so dont waist your time trying to convince me its not.your words are a waist of time, though.ALL OF IT!!!
not by anything else, just SIMPLY by the way he looks,i think the actor for constantine will look more realistic playing the role of a hobo lol,his face just doesnt seem very emperor-ish at all =P
gee mommy, look how "intellectual" I am... I know how to bash and blame religion for all of man's problems... just like I've been programmed to. Don't you just love how much of an "intellectual" I am now because I know how to blindly swallow the propaganda I'm fed by teachers in school? Everyone, come on, let's blame all the worlds problems on religion... YAYYYY!!!
@killthespyder one, Im british, our schools dont have a lack of religeous tilt to them, and I dont blame religeon of all of mans problems, just for the ones it causes (the fact that it creates even more divisions in an already fractious society cant be good)
Second, you prove my point again, you immediatley take a swing at the 'intellectual' branch that you think is responsable, saying I simply swallowed propaganda from teachers rather than form my own opinion. Blaming those who are smart isnt.
@LordKaisen and who determines what "evil" is anyways? Does religion get a absolute power over moral decisions? Who gets to make those decisions? What are the consequences of theocracy? Bring "goodness" for all? Sorry but that isn't happening. We all have conflicting interests. Now we have to ask whose interests matter most. Those are some questions to ponder, have fun! I don't need a response if you don't want to.
@RomanoVictus Correction! Personal beliefs in general are the leading cause of war in the world. Whether it be facism. Or communism. Or christianity. Or islam. Yet we all, atheist, theist, and pantheist believe in something. And we fight for those beliefs.
@TheLueii Why do you think i said one of the leading causes of war, and not the leading cause of war? For someone who wants to preach something you don't pay attention. How about the crusades? How about this very video? How about all the other religious killings in the world today?
@RomanoVictus And? That "religion" (being an overly generalized term for a large variety of IDEAS) doesn't cause wars wasn't the point (they do). The point is that instead of empasizing a subcategory without addressing the category itself does not help issues. You forget, atheists have commited sins as well. Instead of saying one group in particular is a leading cause is called scapegoating. Instead of an "a" cause it should be "the" cause we are looking for. The cause is conflicting ideas.
@TheLueii Religion being the set of ideas of gods and supernatural forces. People go to war pretending to fight for their gods and then end up dying for no specific reason other than ignorance.
@RomanoVictus Correction again. People do not pretendto fight for their gods. They simply fight for their particular religious ideal. Example, Buddist emperors in India. Buddism has no God, only turning to nothing. In the case of most they don't pretend to fight for their god. They DO fight for their God(s). And if you mean ignorance as in incorrect presuppositions (such as God would want it in the first place) yes they do. So do non-religious people, for reasons such as nationalism.
@TheLueii Really? So when the pope in all crusades said "God wills it!" they werent fighting for him? You're an idiot who is trying to defend religion even though they fight for something that their religion preaches against.
An interesting thought regarding those many gods. I think the massively numerous amount of lesser gods before Constantine's reshaping of monotheist christianity have become manifested as saints. Patron saint of lost keys, pagan god of good hair cuts, etc etc. I'd bet a smarter man than I could find a match for every god.
@Monstergoat66 I wasn't saying he invented religion. Someone else did and I called them out for their fallicy. May have misunderstood what I said. Would have been easier understood had you understood the context in which I made my comment. No worries.
The fall of the Republic and the introduction of Christianity as the state religion destroyed all that was great about the Romans. One Emperor, One God...One big fucking Dictatorship. They were far better off with the Senate and a secular society.
Oh well, at least the United States is picking up where the true Romans left off.
@beechey145 And what was his point? I tried reading through it but it looked like a bunch of angry, garbled rantings to me. Basically what I gathered was that he believes most Christians aren't actually Christians and something about a sun god...So you'll have to give me the short version.
I could make some assumptions but honestly I don't quite get what he's trying to...Umm..."Say".
@beechey145 Ah, yes. Well, his opinion is sadly that of a bleeding heart. I sympathize...I don't see how someone can say the Roman Empire "sucks" though. They were brutal, but so were the times.
America is Imperialistic but a little more subtle in it's approach. There will always be a dominant Empire...Until this world is united for better or worse. My humble opinion, at least. :)
cont. - and most of you have the fuking audacity to say there is no god, because if there was why would all the bad exist? because you anti-christians ALLOW IT!
Cont. daily, including the bible, which everyone criticizes w/o ever fuking reading it! And you wonder why all the bullshit happens in our world? All in the name of Religion & Politics, to which NONE of you can keep separate. always imposing your fuked up beliefs onto others in an oppressive manner. A religion & false God you blindly follow (mostly the SUN GOD - paganism) - which has nothing 2 do w/ Jesus & bible, true word of God, ultimate TRUTH on reality, not faith. The ONE & ONLY.
Read ur bible, almost every "man" (false prophet, Matthew 24:4-14 or John 12:43) lies saying they are christian when really they are the anti-christ. Remember satan must disguise himself as God or christian. they murdered Jesus, created religion out of him & u believe THEM over jesus? Then real christians who followed Jesus, the word of God only documented in the bible by his disciples, are fed to the lions, sent to the cross or perscuted in every way you can think to this day 2 which YOU ignore
god i live in a sick world. The Roman Empire sucked then (oppressing humanity) and America today is no fuking different. people need to think about what they "believe". Our beliefs (religion, which everyone has) determine how you behave & the majority of us are so anti-christian (anti-freedom, love, truth & honest, etc..) that were to fuking stupid to even realize it. were so caught up in our emotional desires w/o logic its so insane
There is a school of thought that says Contantine did more than adopt Christianity. He created much of it. It was adapted from the teachings of Apollonius of Tyana. It is no more of a 'true religion' than one based on the 'life' of Krishna, Horus, or Mithra.
God is! He does not need all the clap-trap of religion, or doctrines, or theology.
from scripture, yet reverted anyway. Christianity is alot different today, but Apart from what the Vatican says, it must have been absolutely terrible. Not just a change of religion but a change of civilisation, a transition to what they once saw as decident,to now following the same idea and culture totally irradiating and supressing the classical way of life. It wasn't until the 18th century did the west blow the cobwebs off a forgotten golden age.
Roman imperialism would probably have lasted longer than it did if they had stuck with the 4 emperors idea, that and if Christianity wasn't imposed against the will of the general populous. Rome converting to Christianity back then would have been like if Europe today converted to Islam, overnight. Wether Christianity is true or not is here nor there, Romans had no reason to convert, they had a kind of modern life by there own standards, free and unshackled of religious dogma that comes about f
Proud to be descended from half Italian, we always eat and never gain weight...well that's not true some of us do gain weight. Besides that I used to weight 250 when I was 17, now that I started working out I only weight 180 and that's pure muscle. The actual trick to losing weight is having a hobby that brings your metabolism high. Then u can eat as much as you want and nothing goes on you. I eat around 4000 calories a day and nothing stays on me anymore! I'm still an American though.
You are actually right. It has nothing to do with the video. The comment was made for the movie "Trinity is still my name" when they were eating, in the Restaurant. Funny Scene. My brother, achieved in pissing me off, decided to copy and paste my comment.
Of course he didn't "invent" religion. It's pretty true on the other side that cristianity could bastardize the empire thanks to this very overvalued emperor.
OCTAVIAN HADRIAN MARCUS AURELIUS, were at different level.
You are so ignorant. Despite what some religious zealots want you to believe the War in Iraq had nothing to do with religion. It had everything to do with WMDs and terrorist training camps
@ChristianEastern You are an complete moron. There were no WMDS and there were no training camps in Iraq. The training camps were in Afghanistan dummy and those camps were actually funded by America. Please shut the fuck up and read a book. It's because of ignorant Americans like yourself that the country is so fucked up.
@ChristianEastern if you would have replaced wmd's with resources and terrorist camps with constant military bases (basically same thing on the other side of the medal) your point would have made sense
I can't believe that a person would be so set on being a non believer. Don't be fooled by satan. I tell you I have been to heaven in my dreams two times and it is real. I have also been to hell once in a dream and it is real. A good man always has enemies because evil is also real. A man who has nothing woorth dying or killing for has nothing to live for. Don't be fooled by the wicked ones who hide behind religion. My church is where I stand.
We are making the same decisions/mistakes governments did in the past and are so blind to to think that they will provide us with different outcomes.
The past is a key to the future. Break the chains, free your self, research everything.
Is the shitty of our fathers!!!

@Kamadeva01 @satoichi771 Let's see what Constantine did:

Rome312AD 4 months ago 6
@Rome312AD Constantine was the Christ and only continued the process begun by Augustus. Also as is the case with most imperialists, needed the ignorant Christian rabble to replace troops the same as earlier imperators used Germans. The same as the US used Blacks and now Gays.
Christianity only brought the Dark Ages which was the legacy of Rome after the fall of Pagans.
kybelian 1 month ago
@Rome312AD And this was the aim of Alexander the Great. The real Christ upon which the fictional character of Jesus is based. Even then it was included in the title of the Shahs of Persia and before that of Sargon the Great of Akkad who called himself the King of the 4 Corners.
Constantine was the Christ just as Augustus Caesar had begun the process of concentrating civic and religious powers within himself.
kybelian 1 month ago

All Christianity has done is spread ignorance and plague
kybelian 1 month ago
@kybelian You're probably a faggot I take it. You would have loved to take a bath with a bunch of roman men or enjoyed a sauna with a bunch of burly vikings. I bet the Christians ruined your good time on Brokeback Mountain as well.
URProductions 2 weeks ago
@Rome312AD As as for rating Roman Emperors the greatest was Augustus Caesar for the obvious reason that it was he who originated it and gathered all the titles Christians later stole and plagiarized. Thats also a factor of a plagiarists worshiping a composite fictional character who is made of fragments from legend and historical people.

it was understood the ancient tradition of romans especially byzantium that followed believed in one law and one empire. when today you cannot get a consenus of what is right and wrong and where to stand with the law. australia has over government and is over regulated and has governmental departments that act as laws unto themselves.
the romans would see todays anglo saxon system as endemically barbaric and would see the hypocrisy is the concept of political donations-of t oday.
nico3212 7 months ago
rome did not develop a law society that exploits and divides family and form a inherent ellite organisation that is private and serves in its own interest, its own rules on the basis of profitability. the romans believed the family is sacred and not subject to a lawyers guild that exercised power on its own accord making billions on the misery of broken families. this is why prophetically the romans called them barbarians because they had no limit to what they wanted to exploit and enslave
nico3212 7 months ago
but england did have 200,000 prostitutes to be subserviant to men when woman in rome had equal rights-- a fact. rome did have proper sanitary systems for all. rome had a trine system that direcly represented the peoples rights. rome did not have the monsterous and barbaric credit inflationary system that the english invented to enslave the world. the romans had workers and not slaves who had rights, in contrast the the slaves of the english empire that were treated like animals.
nico3212 7 months ago
rome did not have 200,000 prostitutes destitute to buy bread, rome did not have overcrowded tendements which spread disease because of the lack of sanitary sewerage and water access systems.
rome did not have barbaric brain altering surgeries and follisitcal antiscientific medical theories based on pseudo science, rome had a tribune that directly represented the people and england has a house of lords that merely represented an old feudal order to the embarrasement of western europe
nico3212 7 months ago
lastly this version of history that this documentary presents is inaccurate.
typcial of the english unversities who are paid to pompously distort roman history in a light to make england look good on the other side.
st constantine had genuine convictions and did not use christianity as a polticial means for power. but it was through his own conviction a search for virtues and justice that emulated the greeks is what is in order here. the inferiority complex of the western world is what at stake.
nico3212 7 months ago
i love how the pomppous english distort roman history. in every department the romans were more civilised than the english and they have created a tradition of lying so that the world believe that the parliamentary system is the most civilised when in fact the romans produced a more civilised and made a system more in sinc with justice and virtues that the english have ever done. on one hand they envy the claim of constantine and on the other disdain their own barbaric folly dark ages to world

Check out Theodosius the First.

was Hagia Sophia in Constantinople with great treasures
and you steal most of them when you sack Constantinople
in 1204 the two great lions in the St.Mark in Venice were
from Hagia Sophia....
As for this you will say i will agree that Milan was the biggest city
in the Roman world but when we talk about Byzantium we talk about
for Greek people not Roman.....

@allester99 Religion is a way of controling the Common People let me point it out in an easy way: Religion has caused most wars, the crusades, the inquisition, 911, arranged marriages (sometimes to minors), blowing up girls schools, the suppression of women and homosexuals, fatwas, ethnic cleansing, honor rape, human sacrifice, burning witches, suicide bombing, condoning slavery and the systematic f*ing of children
eilier 11 months ago
@eilier oh ok i can agree that Religion was USED by evil men with evil intentions to control the weak minded.Alot of different religions was created just for those purposes.Others like Christianity and Budism was created for good but evil will always twist things around to confuse and control.i agree with some of what you have said but dont just blame religion in general blame the evil in men. Many chistains like myself actually try and folllow in Jesus's teachings.

allester99 8 months ago
@allester99 That WAS a bold statement, but I still think I can defend it. Christianity is the product of human weakness and resentment. Your going to have to accept that philosophical premise in order to move forward in this argument. I got this from philosophy textbooks so good luck refuting it. When it all comes down to it the main argument is simple. Christianity is the ultimate NIHILISM. At least in war we haven't given up. I don't "respect" war, but I think it's better than surrendering!
TheDavid2222 8 months ago
@TheDavid2222 i dont plan to move on in this useless argument.ill let you know my Faith as a christain didnt begin from the bible. philosophcal textbooks dont prove anythingLOL!!!and it dosnt prove Christ wasnt real.WHEN IT ALL COMES DOWN TO IT THE MAIN ARGUMENT IS SIMPLE!!my faith will never be broken or even shaken by words!God is the god of love what is greater than love.love is so hard to understand, give and receive.why waist time trying to convince us its fake??
allester99 7 months ago
@allester99 The philosophical points I am making have gone WAY over your head. Take a philosophy course and then tell me that I don't know what I'm talking about. Oh, and those philosophers HAVE proven many things. They use something called logic and it seems to work. I can back all of the claims I am making, you CAN'T. Again, every claim I've made has gone over your head, but I don't want to give up on ya. "God's love" isn't real! It takes MORE strength to admit that, and that God aint there.
TheDavid2222 7 months ago
@TheDavid2222 lol well if you were paying attention to all my replies I obviously DONT CARE what you can back or prove with your philosophical points!LOL!!!As a christain i have my faith and there is no need to prove anything.i just tried to give you a little understanding thats all.say what you will that im retarded. as long as it makes you feel better.why dont you stop waisting your time bro.just because we dont think alike dosnt mean we have to argue bro.right?

@allester99 I also agree with the statement that we cannot truly know ourselves without having been in a fight. It shows us our potential. I don't like death or destruction or anything, but my point is that life is struggle. Christianity is a vain attempt to eliminate the struggle. To eliminate the struggle would be to eliminate life.
TheDavid2222 7 months ago
@TheDavid2222 "The maniacal dictator known as the Christian God"? The one that is shown healing people of illnesses, being kind to people no one else showed kindness to, the one that dismantled the culturally exclusive system of rules that Judaism had become in favor of a new system of being kind and generous at every opportunity. This maniac had the nerve to love where love wasn't welcome, and give attention to people that the world kicked and abused.
koenan1 7 months ago
@koenan1 Sure his followers have ignored these standards - horribly and frequently - but that was kind of his point in coming. Nobody is good enough, nice enough, honorable enough to fix the world. He was. And whether you believe the text or not, you have to admit that the character represented there is generous, kind, sacrificial, and empathetic to losers at a time when these qualities were unheard of (whether the gospels were written in 90 AD or 326 AD).

God is one.

Second, you prove my point again, you immediatley take a swing at the 'intellectual' branch that you think is responsable, saying I simply swallowed propaganda from teachers rather than form my own opinion. Blaming those who are smart isnt.

Bang on. Smattering classes these days are absolutely devoid of a sense of balance.
But then, these middle-brows were always like that...

@killthespyder religion didnt bring goodness for all..but ur right its not the source of evil.
LordKaisen 9 months ago
@LordKaisen and who determines what "evil" is anyways? Does religion get a absolute power over moral decisions? Who gets to make those decisions? What are the consequences of theocracy? Bring "goodness" for all? Sorry but that isn't happening. We all have conflicting interests. Now we have to ask whose interests matter most. Those are some questions to ponder, have fun! I don't need a response if you don't want to.

@killthespyder Or if you realize Religion is one of the leading causes of war in the world?
RomanoVictus 7 months ago
@RomanoVictus Correction! Personal beliefs in general are the leading cause of war in the world. Whether it be facism. Or communism. Or christianity. Or islam. Yet we all, atheist, theist, and pantheist believe in something. And we fight for those beliefs.
TheLueii 7 months ago
@TheLueii Why do you think i said one of the leading causes of war, and not the leading cause of war? For someone who wants to preach something you don't pay attention. How about the crusades? How about this very video? How about all the other religious killings in the world today?
RomanoVictus 7 months ago
@RomanoVictus And? That "religion" (being an overly generalized term for a large variety of IDEAS) doesn't cause wars wasn't the point (they do). The point is that instead of empasizing a subcategory without addressing the category itself does not help issues. You forget, atheists have commited sins as well. Instead of saying one group in particular is a leading cause is called scapegoating. Instead of an "a" cause it should be "the" cause we are looking for. The cause is conflicting ideas.
TheLueii 7 months ago
@TheLueii Religion being the set of ideas of gods and supernatural forces. People go to war pretending to fight for their gods and then end up dying for no specific reason other than ignorance.
RomanoVictus 7 months ago
@RomanoVictus Correction again. People do not pretendto fight for their gods. They simply fight for their particular religious ideal. Example, Buddist emperors in India. Buddism has no God, only turning to nothing. In the case of most they don't pretend to fight for their god. They DO fight for their God(s). And if you mean ignorance as in incorrect presuppositions (such as God would want it in the first place) yes they do. So do non-religious people, for reasons such as nationalism.
TheLueii 7 months ago
@TheLueii Really? So when the pope in all crusades said "God wills it!" they werent fighting for him? You're an idiot who is trying to defend religion even though they fight for something that their religion preaches against.

An interesting thought regarding those many gods. I think the massively numerous amount of lesser gods before Constantine's reshaping of monotheist christianity have become manifested as saints. Patron saint of lost keys, pagan god of good hair cuts, etc etc. I'd bet a smarter man than I could find a match for every god.
MrTerryKay 1 year ago
@Monstergoat66 I wasn't saying he invented religion. Someone else did and I called them out for their fallicy. May have misunderstood what I said. Would have been easier understood had you understood the context in which I made my comment. No worries.

The fall of the Republic and the introduction of Christianity as the state religion destroyed all that was great about the Romans. One Emperor, One God...One big fucking Dictatorship. They were far better off with the Senate and a secular society.
Oh well, at least the United States is picking up where the true Romans left off.
AtlasGaveUp 1 year ago
@AtlasGaveUp I agree with MopDMTBARTL's first point there.
beechey145 1 year ago
@beechey145 And what was his point? I tried reading through it but it looked like a bunch of angry, garbled rantings to me. Basically what I gathered was that he believes most Christians aren't actually Christians and something about a sun god...So you'll have to give me the short version.
I could make some assumptions but honestly I don't quite get what he's trying to...Umm..."Say".
AtlasGaveUp 1 year ago
@AtlasGaveUp Nothing about religion, yeah, he is pretty angry by the looks of things.
I meant the conflict between your statement about the USA picking up where they left off.
beechey145 1 year ago
@beechey145 Ah, yes. Well, his opinion is sadly that of a bleeding heart. I sympathize...I don't see how someone can say the Roman Empire "sucks" though. They were brutal, but so were the times.
America is Imperialistic but a little more subtle in it's approach. There will always be a dominant Empire...Until this world is united for better or worse. My humble opinion, at least. :)

cont. - and most of you have the fuking audacity to say there is no god, because if there was why would all the bad exist? because you anti-christians ALLOW IT!
we allow it by lying and being FAKE daily!
MopDMTBARTL 1 year ago
Cont. daily, including the bible, which everyone criticizes w/o ever fuking reading it!
MopDMTBARTL 1 year ago
Read ur bible, almost every "man" (false prophet, Matthew 24:4-14 or John 12:43) lies saying they are christian when really they are the anti-christ. Remember satan must disguise himself as God or christian. they murdered Jesus, created religion out of him & u believe THEM over jesus? Then real christians who followed Jesus, the word of God only documented in the bible by his disciples, are fed to the lions, sent to the cross or perscuted in every way you can think to this day 2 which YOU ignore
MopDMTBARTL 1 year ago
god i live in a sick world.

Of course he didn't "invent" religion. It's pretty true on the other side that cristianity could bastardize the empire thanks to this very overvalued emperor.
