I've seen worse fouls, but this one warrants a red card for sure. Aiming at the player, not the ball. If He'd been only just that little bit later, he'd have broken his opponent's ankle. The opponent was very, very lucky not to get himself injured.
And before you start saying that I'm an Atletico fan or Barça fan or just somebody who has no knowledge about things, I'm a referee myself and I don't support any Spanish team.
