its amazing how this forecast has virtually almost been the complete opposite of what we have experienced so far . i know its early winter yet but you have to admit you were way off cue on this one.
This is it. I never update my winter outlooks. However, to follow the most current trends, I am an Admin on the Absolute Vorticity weather forum and you can sign up there for free and join in the wx discussions.
Going to be a better winter for the great lakes as it looks like storms will favor the lakes more than last year. With a neg NAO you cant count out the east coast though even in a la nina. It looks like we could be in for a lot of la ninas the rest of the decade.
I think that the blocking will not be as strong as the past 2 winters so that is why I favor folks West of the Apps moreso then the East Coast. The EC will most likely see a couple of big storms though, but I think the primary storm track will favor the Midwest / Lakes / OV. I storngly agree with you in terms of seeing more nina's then nino's. We can thank the -PDO and weak sun for that.
@LesLovesSnow great forcast!! although i do think that the blocking will be as strong if not stronger this year. I cant give you a reason but I have a gut feeling on the matter, its one of those things. I live in texas and despite the drought everything is trying to flower heavily and get some form of seed out. Im not one to believe much folk lore but I think that sometimes if you look to the trees and what not, it will tell you things. I think they know something we dont. Its ominous.
Bravo, Bravo on your winter 2011-2012 forecast. I agree 100% on your forecast. Would it not be wild to see another strong or even stronger La Nina. Never happen that I know of either in previous winter analogues. Makes me already thinking that the 2012-2013 winter will be epic. Remember after La Nina the following winter is even colder most of the time. Even with a Mod La Nina 2013 as well as this years will be one to remember for much of the USA . Loved your positive attitude. BRAVO , BRAVO.
I live in portland oregon and i always welcome a good snow storm. Something we really dont see much of...But this year looks a little scary or maybe just the unknown of whats really going on in our oceans...Great info!!
Thank you! The oceans are cooling and so is the globe. It has been for the last several years. More extreme weather and cold winters yet to come in the next 20 years or so.
@Skankpronger No. I still haven't given up hope. Now, can you kindly, quit rubbing it in my face? Please.

Thank you very much! I totally agree with you in regards to 2012-2013. I also think it'll be much, much colder for a large part of the country.
