Thats simply not true, free heath care or reduced rate heathcare places like the VA hospitals are SLOW, the quality of care is lower, the personal interaction between doctor and patient is a lot less than with a private doctor. I just read about poll in the Salt Lake Tribune(quoting Time Magazine I believe) The VA has an 83% satisfaction rate while for-profit hospitals average around 75% satisfaction. Yes, I have heard some horror stories about the VA...but it seems like, in general they are as good as the for profit system. My-father-in law is a Vet..he likes the VA and he can afford anything he wants. He stills goes to the VA.

This will DESTROY private healthcare because small businesses cant pay 8% PLUS the actual cost of the health insurance. Page 124 Sec 223 says that the gov has unlimited authority to set payments..
Pages 195-196 sec 431 amends the tax code, opens up YOUR tax return information, YOUR medical record information, YOUR employment records to the Feds. Page 102 sec 205 allows the gov to enroll you whether or not you want to be and exempts feds from any review by the courts. It goes on and on. No it doesnt say "death panel" anyplace, but it does create a "health care commissioner" who has unlimited power to decide who is admitted/readmitted to hosp based on your diagnosis. Its goes on and on.
Bottom line is...this bill is contains the "myths" thats we're being told it doesnt. Read the bill. This is SCARY shit if you know anything about the law and your rights as they currently exist. I say currently because they wont exist much longer.

Yes, I have heard some horror stories about the VA...but it seems like, in general they are as good as the for profit system. My-father-in law is a Vet..he likes the VA and he can afford anything he wants. He stills goes to the VA.

I'm a veteran and I use the VA. I hate the VA system, but I like the price.....FREE, my meds cost me but not really a whole lot, it's very very dirt cheap. The VA is just as slow and impersonal as a non profit health clinic, my wife had a UTI causing her a lot of pain and discomfort, we waited 9+ hours and finally Left without being seen, I took her to a private doctor the next morning who saw her within 45 minutes!!! if I made more then 40K I wouldn't be using the VA right now I make 20K

Someone like you would be better off on the new plans.
On the Govt. Option you would go to a private doctor and he /she would bill the Govt. plan. At your income level...your cost for the plan would be very little and you wouldn't have to go to the VA or the free clinic.

The VA sure is heck isn't perfect. But my son and his family just got royally screwed by United Health Care and my wife who works at clinic, sees people screwed by insurance companies all the time.

Well Im not going to read the bill again for you, but I will give you some things to look at that are in there that the main stream media claims are "myths" such as taxing small businesses 8% of their payroll unless their private health insurance is equal to the coverage of the public option. This will DESTROY private healthcare because small businesses cant pay 8% PLUS the actual cost of the health insurance. Page 124 Sec 223 says that the gov has unlimited authority to set payments..

Pages 195-196 sec 431 amends the tax code, opens up YOUR tax return information, YOUR medical record information, YOUR employment records to the Feds. Page 102 sec 205 allows the gov to enroll you whether or not you want to be and exempts feds from any review by the courts. It goes on and on. No it doesnt say "death panel" anyplace, but it does create a "health care commissioner" who has unlimited power to decide who is admitted/readmitted to hosp based on your diagnosis. Yes but how can any private insurance compete with the government with an 8% tax handicap given that the government can then reimburse the healthcare provider at any rate they choose? They can pay 70 cents per dollar of provided care and crush any private insurance provider. This is the ultimate realization of Marxism, to eliminate reward for specialization and elevate the state. Obamarx's plan also mentions labor/unions more than two dozen times, the elderly only twice. Millions in government grants and monies are available only to unionized entities. His plan is a pure socialist power grab.

The POTUS explained clearly that the Public Option will NOT be subsidized by the Govt. It will raise money through premiums ONLY. So, the argument that Public Option will compete unfairly is FALSE!
If Private Ins. is as "good" as they claim, they should NOT be chickening away from competing with the Public Option!

"46" americans is closer to accurate than 46 million like they are saying. That number is wildly misstated. Insurance is a compensatory system that offers to pay for your healthcare. It is a luxury not a right. Pay out of pocket or get medicare/medicare if you are poor.

If its Univeral Single payer then every has it and we all pay for it for everybody so its not free...
If its the public option then the government sells it and we have to buy it... so its not free
The messed up part is, even if you cant afford the public option (ie. the waitress that makes 10,000 a year), you still have to buy it or they fine you 2.5% of your income in taxes at the end of the year.

It should sway you, the fact that survival rates for life threatening illnesses are way higher here than in ANY country with socialized medicine. All this is do is cover more people and give out less treatment BECAUSE they cover more people with more problems. Not true, unless you're into cherry picking. Some stats from Concord study:
US had the highest five-year survival rates for breast cancer at 83.9% and prostate cancer at 91.9%
but...
Japan came out best for male colon and rectal cancers, at 63% and 58.2% respectively, while France fared best for women with those cancers at 60.1% and 63.9%.
Note also that the study showed a sizable difference in survival rates within the U.S. In particular, a significant difference between whites and blacks.

The fact remains that when the government has their plan it will COVER LESS (in the long term), PAY LESS, and SAVE FEWER LIVES.
Sure they may take people with preexisting conditions, but how will they treat these people. They wont.. they will give them pills instead of an operation and they will die!!!!!
