He lived and went on to contue flying. The plane crashed because the fly-by-wire system failed during the landing, making it impossible to control.

I've heard that the crash was due to PIO.

The very same pilot was the one that flew the Gripen which crashed in Stockholm in '93.

It wasn't a bad landing, or yes it was, but not from the pilot, it had a system failure wich made the plane uncontrolable.

JAS 39 Gripen, is the plane.
