Let it be known, when the CG receives a distress call, we're a comin. Hell or high water, no matter what season, temperature or time of day. And you can bet your last money, a Coastie will give his all to save you. "When its too rough for them,
I like to say. " You can take the Guy or Girl outta the Coast Guard but you can,t take the Coast Guard outta the Guy or Girl " ! Hey we did,nt suffer bootcamp just to put it all behind us ! I,d do it all again includeing boot and those minutes of teeth grinding terror during rescues again if I could. And don,t forget the " 6th service " who without the other 5 during war we rely on to supply us to do our missons. The Merchant Marines !
Thru every war our country has fought, frome the begining till today a member of the U.S.C.G. has stood her ground and served her flag. The first Marines landed on Iwo Jima were landed by U.S.C.G. Coxswains mate Paul Ferdinand Moody, famous war corraspondent Ernie Pyle wrote an articule published in his hometown paper about him. His brothers served in the Marines,Navy,Army and ArmyAirCorps. It was a "Family OF Patriots " My Step Dad is Cecil Moody, thier brother.
Here is an explanation of how the US Flag and the hidden inner working COLORS of a gun are the same. The firing mechanism of a gun is located in an enclosed area in the upper corner of a gun, and it has two colors: very sad dark blue when reloading and at rest, and white sparks when being fired ( these white sparks ignite the red flame of the gun powder when the gun is being fired ). The long gun barrel has two colors: white outside light when it is at rest, and red flames when firing the gun.
lol during the "Deserts of Africa" part shouldn't you have shown a desert?
Anyway on a more serious note;
This is..very deep. I was lucky enough to participate in one of these flag passing ceremonies with my Sea Cadet unit. We passed the flag that had flown over USS Arizona to a Marine Corps Major (forgot his name).
Please pass this on to everyone so that all may know that the Coast Guard has served everywhere! This is for ALL Coasties, past and present. Thank you.

To answer runescapecat454:
WHEC 378' Hamilton class
The 378-foot High Endurance Cutter class are the largest cutters, aside from the two Polar Class Icebreakers, ever built for the Coast Guard.
But know that the men & women on even the smallest vessel serve as proudly as any other.
