  • what ever origin does not matter. It was adopted by the Tsalagi (Cherokee) as The Funeral Song because it was played so much when our ancestors fell and made their journey during the removal. It is also known at times as the Cherokee anthem.

  • You're right it's very nice, however you're completely wrong about it's origins.

    The melody is of Celtic origin, eitheir Scots or Irish, most likely Scottish.
