Read the book The Really Bad Thing about Free Will by martin zender its either 100% by the grace of God or its by us! If its 99% Christs work but 1% us then the 1% by us becomes the all important factor and this 1% saves us! Christainity is not all about 'seriousness' . There is also joy, love, compassion, miracles etc, etc and other 'goodies' in Christ. But the part involving salvation of man is a heavy serious matter (b'cos it involves eternity, heaven and hell). Read about the life of Jesus in the bible. Tell me if He spoke ot taught about salvation, heaven or hell lightly (or taught them as a joke). It's too serious because it deals with ETERNITY. When Jesus was on Earth, He never took His teachings (especially that of hell) lightly. It's either you pass or fail eternally (depending on whether or not you accept Jesus as Lord and Savior respectively). It's up to you. There is GOOD NEWS. Jesus WILL NOT cast away anyone who comes to Him (no matter how good, bad or ugly that person is or seems to be) with a 100% assurance of salvation. Be sober, be vigilant for your.... . Word of correction; I never said salvation is by human works. Salvation is neither by power nor by might (but by the spirit of God through Jesus). For anyone to receive of His salvation, that person must needs humble his heart (with godly fear) and accepting Him through faith, belief (in His blood to save from all sin) and confession of Him through repentance. The (simple) process of accepting Him is what the bible call 'working out one's salvation with FEAR AND TREMBLING'. This is what I meant.

If the focus is on yourself - one gets caught up with 'have i humbled myself enough?' etc...The process of 'working out salvtion with fear,trembling is not about getting saved -it's about outworking salvation in someone's subjective experience.
