LOVE this song/video. An early version I saw on heere, deleted Bruce introducing the band. That part in itself is worth the vidoe to see him introduce Clarence.
@estreetband91 In 1994 there was a VHS tape released of this concert. However, due to the lower VHS quality footage, it didn't sell as well as it could have if it had higher quality, and wasn't transferred to DVD. There is hardly any footage from this show on the internet, sadly, only Badlands, The Promised Land, Born To Run, Roaslita (Come Out Tonight), and one more song I can't think of the name of. I used to have a copy myself, but I naively sold it in 2004. :-(
Every member of this band is playing like they are one of Bruce's internal organs. Every member of the audience is playing like they are in the band. Bruce is playing like he's The Boss!!!!!!!!
Simply put..One of the greatest rock n roll songs of all time. One of the greatest, if not the greatest, rock performances of all time captured on film. Thanks for posting this iconic performance..ROCK ON
Would someone kindly tell me if the whole concert is available somewhere, i havent found it through he normal retailers. ps saw bruce at hyde park, when he played this i was so happy dancing from side to side at one point a tear roll down my face!
This was a dream. Had't thought about this in some time. Was there with my sister and girlfriends in the second row in front of the Big Man . What a treat!!!!
This is just so great. So very, very great. The greatest rock n' roll that has ever been, Bruce Springsteen on the Darkness tour in 78, and the River tour in 1980, and the Born in the USA Tour in 84-85, and the Reunion Tour in 2002-2003, and the Magic tour in 2007-08. I haven't seen a show on the current tour yet, but it'll be stunning, as well.
Thank god for Bruce Springsteen. He is not merely an American treasure, as I read recently. He's a human treasure, a world treasure.
@ernie19081975 This is so cool! I'm glad I found this video on here! My cousin worked as a bodyguard for Bruce until the mid 80's! You can see him in this video at 8:45 pulling girls off of Bruce! He then runs off stage behind Bruce! When he left the Boss in the 80's to settle down and get married, Bruce surprised him (after giving him a VERY large check as wedding present!) by showing up and PLAYING at his wedding! SO COOL! This has to be one of the BEST bands ever! RIP Clarence and Danny!
I remember coming home from the pub a little worse for wear and watching that. Blew me away. went out next day and bought all his albums. Still playing 'em!!
Yes I remember seeing it on MTV as well... specially late night... me being 8 or 9 years old at the time, this performance changed my life man... it helped make me a music fan to this day. Seeing this performance just shows how special some artists are.
This is amazing. This tour ranks among the Rolling Stones 1972-1973 tour, the Who's 1969 tour, the Jerry Lee lEwis 1964 shows, the Bob Dylan 1966 tour, and the 1967-1970 Jimi Hendrix shows.
Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band's 1978 Darkness tour ranks up there with Pink Floyd's 1977 Animals and 1980 Wall tours, The Who's 1975 US tour, The Rolling Stones' Exile on Main Street 1972-73 tour, Genesis' 1980 Duke tour and Styx's Paradise Theater as the best rock tours in rock history. This version of Rosalita is still the best. Kinda pissed me off that they edited the band intros from other versions.
The correct date for this one is July 8, 1978, as several Bruce databases confirm. This is from the BBC's Old Grey Whistle Test, Vol.I, which shows the wrong year at the beginning. It is the only full version around, with the band intros.
I remember MTV used to play this version, back in the early- and mid-80s, but for some reason, after Bruce released his live album, they stopped showing the version with the band intros. But, boy, what a great, joyous testament to Springstreen's magic.
Ahh, the good old days when hot chicks would run up on stage and make out with the lead singer. Beautiful

Important Numerology to be considered for this classic video:
The Number is Eight (8).
8 is the number of women that The Boss had to beat off of him with a stick!!!
The Moral: For Bruce -- Eight Is Enough!
