  • southern cross

  • Shit look at how many amplifiers are on stage. musta been loud as hell. thats awesome.

  • Yeah !!

  • O MY GOD...37 CRAZIES.......QUE POCO HAY QUE SENTIR LA MUSICA ..PARA VOTAR EN NEGATIVO!!!!LOCOS

  • Super!!!!!!!!!

  • Clapton's done about as much for the blues as Pat Boone has (sorry, 50-year-old white guys everywhere), but he still shines on stuff like this.

  • audience=lucky basterds

  • it's true, Duane is gone, but this song is still the best of the best... Eric makes it work ! He is truly one of the masters...

  • This is great, but without Derek and the Dominos including Duane...its just a really good cover.

  • love this song, but without duane is no the same.....

  • Love the way at 0:47 the dude next to Clapton jumps when he hears the first notes to Layla!!!!

  • Great version, but missing some of the signature studio version notes and effects.

  • De cada 2161 personas, 36 son ignorantes de la musca

  • Dear God,

Can you please send Duane Allman back. I know he's the lead guitarist for heaven's choir but we really need him back on earth.

  • Perfect.

  • @johndanpez I seriously doubt Duane Allman would have left the Allman Bros. to join the Dominos. Even at the time, with the turmoil that would eventually end the band, they were a shooting star. Here, then gone. As for the Bros., not only did they lose Duane but the great bassist Berry Oakley. Duane was, and still is, amongst the greatest of all time. There is no ONE greatest but he is among the elite. Indeed may he and Berry rest in peace. The ABB has never, and I doubt will ever, be as great.

  • Eric Clapton simply the best ! ! !

  • Simply great...

  • This is great, but I do recommend watching the one with Clapton, The Stones, Jimmy Paige and Jeff Beck. Excellent.

  • do i think it is outstanding - yes...however this version is missing one important link - duane allman's amazing slide. can't call it the best since duane - god rest his soul - is not performing with eric

  • @leelovesmaritza Indeed, and as did Vince Gill with Dire Straits, Duane had the opportunity to join Clapton and his band, but then there would have been no Allman Brothers that really stopped with a peach truck. So one might argue that Duane Allman was indeed or at least had his time as the world's greatest guitarist. Indeed may he rest in peace.

  • Eric has said that the nickname "Slowhand" was given to him by John Mayall because he was slow in changing strings whenever he broke one. That was quite some time ago and I doubt he changes his own strings anymore. Your the best EC. Keep on playing until the world ends.

  • lol i love the bass player's reaction when Clapton starts playing the riff :D

  • Eric Clap you are wonderful singer brittoperera@yahoo.com

  • Eric Clap you are wonderful allways Britto perera

  • At 0:46 he scared the BLACK out of that guy

  • 3:27 sounds like he is shooting all the crap guitar players out of his way :D

  • @ioplk90 haha yeah with a Fender LASERcaster

  • If there is such a thing as reincarnation, I hope Eric comes back as Eric.

  • i just play the intro over and over

  • I have this dvd and everytime I watch this song I get goosebumps..rock on Slowhand

  • That is just the sweetest music ever..... never gets old and I'm traveling 33 rpm in an i-Pod world

  • AWESOME

  • awesome

  • at 5:20 the girl in the middle looks like she might've rocked a little too heard and screwed up her neck haha

  • The best! The Steve Jobs/Bill Gates of the music industry for sheer genius, talent and legacy.

  • Is there a category for love??

  • I love the way the bass player jumps at the start of this song, as if it took him by total sup-prize, great stuff,

  • This was the best "live" Layla ever. I heard him play this live quite a few times. Yep, the best is right here

  • goose bumps

  • Juste un concentré de force musicale, de talent sacré, d'un guitariste et vocaliste incroyable ! Merci Eric Clapton pour cette musique magnifique !

  • 35 Deaf people are pissed they can't hear this song!

  • @amies109 Song? It's a fuckin masterpiece! :)

  • @amies109 Yah and one blind person can not see for his reasoning!!!

  • and still can't even half-ass load the damned video...

  • My favorite version is the one on "Eric Clapton and Friends", with Nathan East, Greg Phillinganes and Phil Collins. It also features a heart breaking version of Holy Mother.

  • You think it's the best Layla ever by Eric Clapton until you watch another video

  • WHICH PIXEL IS LAYLA?

  • @Frankdtankspanks the one next to his webos

  • @deadweb101 George Harrison also had "Something" in a pixel next to his guevos.

  • @Frankdtankspanks Dont need to see her to hear her song my friend.

  • WOW MORE 240p JOKES. HILARIOUS.

  • the piano coda is truly the superior movement, don't care much about the first

  • Hardly the best. Backup singers sound choppy, the flow on the whole is not smooth and melodic. Which just means, I prefer a different style.

  • @txlastrebel die

  • Good, but it can't be the best w/o Whitlock and Allman.

  • Clapton live in Japan, 2009 is better!

  • love the tease at the beginning!

  • I agree, he wore this song out,,,,,Gary Moore was more akined to God, Eric is just his angel, I hate that people say Eric is God, there have been so many as good or better, and I love em all.God would look down and say FIX IT ERIC, you being a angel and a God fearing man , tell them fans you arent God. Just a good guiatarist who s outlived his peers.

  • @rtriplett33 Gary Moore?? Please.........from your personal page I can tell you worship him, but putting him above Clapton in ANY way is ridiculous. Not in innovation, not in pure raw talent, not in fellow musician accolades, nothing. Eric is the only white blues guitarist fully respected by BB King, Robert Cray, Buddy Guy, Hubert Sumlin etc.

And....who's the only guy that Jimi said could ever hang with him...Eric Clapton. Case Closed...

  • This is a great song that was played to death in the 70's to the point where, at that time, I was going to vomit if I had to hear it one more time. Now, it brings back good memories and this is a good rendition of it. Glad to see that Clapton survived to have a long career. The man has been through a lot.

  • Keith Richards is the most overated..well I won't even call him a guitar player!!!! To all the critics.. there are two kinds out there... Players & those who bitch about them who can play. I bet you guy's are the one who's mom's drop you off @ Guitar Center while she get's her nail's done & hail cut..& can only play the intro to "Crazy Train" outa tune of course.. and everyone in store rolls their eyes & can't wait for you "aggavating little shit's" to leave!!!!!!!!

  • Tired song. Clapton most overrated guitar player of all time.

  • @txlastrebel Are you 14 years old? Afraid to back up your statement? Idiot...

  • @HellaKool76 that's my opinion he sucks

  • God: Here's your guitar Eric.

Eric: Thank you sir. Now for our first lesson...

  • The bass player is NOT one of those whom should stay invisible. That bass player is very well known and accomplished. Take a look at all the artists name sometime. You would be surprised how many well known artists have toured with Eric Clapton - remember this, Eric hand selects each performer.

  • Yeah, I agree the Bass player ruined some of this with the 'over' reaction. He should have concentrated on staying invisible like he was paid to do.

  • @Esperite You're an idiot. That base player is Nathan East, one of the best base players ever. He's toured with Clapton on and off for 20 years. Do some research dumbass....

  • @HellaKool76 I hate to reign on your parade but its spelled Bass not Base.

  • @HellaKool76 but i wholeheartedly agree with ya though

  • I truly hate the way this asshole jumps as though he didn't know what song was coming up. Fuck you, asshole!

  • @smokiebird06

Lighten up dick face....he's just having fun

  • Not the best. In fact, it is identical to another YouTube video. The saxophone player is very good, but I don't like the way the sax is arranged here.

  • love, love, love this song. takes me back to the 70s. gooood times.

  • This isnt the best version - The ultimate one is Eric Clapton & Phil Collins Layla , check it out - it's like a jet.

  • steve gadd!!!!!!!!!!! he's so amazing!

    tubs up for steve!

  • Duane Allman wrote and played the guitar parts on the coda, not Clapton. This is not to say Clapton wasn't great - but the "slide quartet" was all Duane.

  • this is one of the best or not the best live video of Layla live. you can see the energy in the band. .

  • I honestly don't see how 31 people could say they don't like this song. I think they must be little school children with n9o attention span.

  • Shame that Duane Allman's contribution to the original recording has been mostly forgotten.

  • Love it, thank you for putting this up for us all to see.

  • Love love love it. Thank you! Do you know what year this was? Love when he sings the part on this video "before I finally go insane", what a rush!

  • I dunno. . .it is great but I would bet a live version with Duane Allman would be the best version

  • /watch?v=fX5USg8_1gA

the original better version of this song

  • watch?v=fX5USg8_1gA

the original better you tube video

  • 0:40 - 1:05 that part give me some unbeliveable boost that u cant belive Xd

  • @Bryan22Ruiz a boner?

  • @Bryan22Ruiz 0:00 to 8:20 THAT part game me some unbelievable boost:D

  • this version sucks compared to Japan 1988 and the Prince's Trust concert in 1988.

  • :49 All i notice is that black guy dancing for half a second

  • @garyfisher88 That black guy is Nathan East, one of the greatest bass players in the world. And that little dance was him getting pushed back for a moment from the force of the awesomeness.

  • all hail the great strat

  • Check out the version with the Allman Bros. This is a great version but I miss the slide guitar.

  • @yervana Amen brother. RIP Duane Allman

  • c est la meilleur version de tout les temps creem time

  • i think the one with phil collins in 1986 is way better , the drums are a bit shut down

  • @elf1naish i done gone seen what you did thar

  • The best calling Peter Green the best says something about the respect Clapton has for guitarists in general

  • 29 people dont deserve to listen to music PERIOD!

  • @elf1naish i agree this is the one

  • NVIDIA?? yes I have NVIDIA I dont know what you mean

  • The way it was MEANT to be played!

  • @kathleen1966 NVIDIA

  • Have you heard Layla from the Hartford 85 show? In my opinion, I think I prefer that version with Jamie Oldaker on drums and Donald Duck Dunn on bass. That's also a killer concert as well. Check out if you get a chance and thanks for posting this:)

  • @drummist53 Gadd is a very good drummer. He's number 2 on my list.

  • I prefer this version best too. Just listeneed to is before hitting this in curiosity ;0 I dont like the sped up version with Knopler... sounds too un-Claptony.... theres a reason they call him Slow-hand..

  • WHAT IDIOTS COULD EVEN HIT THE DISLIKE BUTTON ON THIS MAY U FIND GOD ?????

  • only for clapton do we tolerate 240p

  • I love this version, but the Unplugged version is still my favorite.

  • my fingers are wet, cause i cant cry.

My heart is beating cause i cant fly

Cause this was the beautiest sounds for my ears

  • Eric Clapton said " Peter Green was my guitar teacher, major influence, and friend...and I will never, EVER be as good as him ".

Yes I agree, this is a good/great tune but check out Peter Green. The beauty of the Internet is that we can learn things from others

  • love how he catches the bassist completely off guard

  • 240p...We meet again...

  • @Ulikazu

    haha...

  • @elf1naish Eric Clarton?

  • love it when the bass player jumps at the start. epic.

  • This is my most favorite song of all time by a long shot. This is an outstanding version no doubt. But i have to respectly disagree about the best. I believe the best is the original version with him and Duane Allman duelling guitars. Check out the video with Tom Dowd the making of Layla is a great awesome video on youtube. He tells about how clapton and allman met and hooked up on layla. Amazing story. worth checking out.

  • The Greatest Love Song Ever!

  • @elf1naish and not the other way around in his last name

  • too bad bassist, you shocked pretty well! love that move when eric starts to play the song!

  • I'm An Old Hippie....He's The Best!

  • @ddllss1122

There is no such thing as an "old" hippie. You, my dear, are an original, as am I.

  • Comment removed

  • This acoustic version is SO much better imho: watch?v=Q_L-0Ryhmic Can´t understand why ppl like the above version so much.

  • @pIatinger Its the original cir. Derick and the Domino's.

  • He is so fucking amazing

  • Clapton for god

  • 'Epic' Clapton, ha ha i like it!!

  • Bravo!

  • This is, without a doubt the GREATEST version of "Layla" I have ever heard.

  • @pattyajones (I am glad for his soberity) BUT the greatest version was sounding like this, with lights, his youth and the white suit......it did something to the entire audience.....but yes this is similar musically. of course I was also very young and very close to the stage.

  • Respond to this video... I like it unplugged but originally yes, the strings and the voice begged like an opera.....great.

  • One of those nights when everything just clicks , he was on fire , and so was David S

  • 0:46, the artist shocked when eric starts to play

  • @dragonyh3110 : that artise happens to be nathan east, the most sort after session bassist

  • guitarists tend to sing like guitarists rather than singers... my ONLY criticism - great vid!

  • @rockinghell91 wow really no. he is a vocal and guitar god.

  • oh so much joy

  • To all you knuckleheads trying to compare, in this case Eric & Duane...forget it. They were opposite sides of the same golden coin. Check this out and see how this song came together in the first place...by the genius that made it happen. Tommy Dowd.

    youtube.com/watch?v=iKPooc-ImiM

  • the black guy knew it was coming but claptons epicness is just to much

  • Why do people watch a video here on You Tube then criticize the performer and say so and so is better? GET A LIFE !

  • I love this song so much! I was driving thru a store parking lot blaring this song and some guy was like "yeah!" and is this song about friends with benefits? cause thats what I get from it.

  • @kickerpunter

The song's about how Clapton was in love with George Harrison's wife (he was good friends with George at the time) and how he couldn't have her.

  • Being a Leila but always called Layla and going out at the time with a Derek I have loved this song the whole of my life.

  • 0:47 bass player craps himself

  • @elf1naish got that from other videos, haven't you?

  • sorry, very, very good, but blackmore has more .....whatever, don't get me wrong, I love clapton he is fantastic!!!! But rithchie is just unbelievable

  • @kejag ; In YOUR opinion of course?

  • the album is still the best

  • Epic Clapton

  • As Carlos Santana once said "there are no superlatives to describe Eric Clapton"

Many artists must go through him to find themselves.

Great version of Layla done in one of the premier concert halls of the world.

  • Look at the guitarplayer on the side. Andy Faiweather Low. He's Eric's third hand.

  • the greatest guitarist of all time no one else compares

  • @littlelot02

    Stevie Ray Vaughan

  • THE BASS PLAYER NAME IS NATHAN EAST ,HE HAD RECORDED WITH MANY STARS,ALSO WITH SMOOTH JAZZ MUSICIANS IN 70 80(LEE RITENOUR)

  • Slow Hand for life!

  • i love the way he springs it on the audience for their reaction

  • Clapton is God.

  • @MrCoolgirl10 To his sermons, I will listen intently...To his dogma, I will adhere.

  • @Archerjr1 amen.

  • Allman's good but Clapton rules the pickers

  • gotta disagree about this being the best version. the best version had this guy named duane allman play.ing on it. perhaps you've heard of him.

  • @zalman595

    amen to that.

  • see that bass player jump at 0:44 !!! this song is just awesome

  • @SPIKESSEKIPS that bass player is just awesome...he is really great also technically speaking!!!

  • saw this tour. the bassist died shortly after with Stevie Ray

  • saw this tour.

  • One Of Many " GREATESTSSS " Rock Hits He's Got , written and Performed !ï»
