  • TV personalities have no real idea of what the he*l is going on, but they love their checks!!!!

  • Did you ever go into a woodshop and see all their wood stacked on it's edge? NO. BECAUSE THEY DON'T! IT WOULD WARP THAT WAY! DUH. Keep it flat, with the wet side up, so it can dry. Oh, and health departments made restaurants take wood cutting boards out of their kitchens a loooong time ago because of the possibility of bacteria.

  • She is dispensing almost total misinformation. DO NOT USE VEGETABLE OIL to maintain a wood board. USE MINERAL OIL! There are plenty of YouTube videos that explain this. VEGGIE OIL BECOMES STICKY & RANCID! YUCK! The T & G Woodware video also explains that BACTERIA ARE NOT A PROBLEM ON WOOD BOARDS. THEY DO MULTIPLY FREELY ON PLASTIC BOARDS.

  • @Doublechocolatebarbi

Well, yes and no. I use extra virgin (cold pressed) olive oil for everything from protecting wood and leather to keeping knives from rusting and silverware from oxidizing, and it never seems to get sticky or go rancid. The cheaper veggie oils will. Walnut oil is also safe and effective for preserving cutting boards, or any wood implement that comes into contact with food.

  • Haven't they been to a butcher's shop before?

  • Salt and lemon juice work really well, to season just use a little veg oil. These work great for me.

  • People....DO NOT USE OLIVE OIL ON YOUR BOARDS!!! Use food grade bees wax, mineral oil and carnuba. Sheesh...... Howards makes the treatment for boards and butcher blocks. You can use chlorine bleach and hot water to remove stains but it must be rinsed thoroughly and allowed to air dry to eliminate the odor. Retreat the board after it has dried. The wax combo prevents water from penetrating with the bacteria...simple huh?

  • sponge action here

  • Just a tip...Cutting board oil is Mineral oil..check the ingredients...food grade mineral oil is the same stuff you buy in a pharmacy type store

  • SOMEONE KILL HER !!!!

  • Every other word, my husband this my husband that we GET IT you got married!!!

  • haha agreed, and from what I hear, he isn't such a great man

  • @iheartyou4ever115 She said it once, you tool.

  • @iheartyou4ever115 woah - dude. she said it once!

  • Never use olive oil, it will go rancid. Food grade mineral oil is your best bet. Salt will remove stains and backing soda will remove smells. Doesn't she have enough money to pay someone to tell her these things?

  • Thank you for pointing this out! When she said use EVOO I said NO! out loud.

  • Of course salt kills germs, look it up on wikipedia

  • Use a half of lemon to scrub the board. The acid in the lemon helps.

  • She looks like the Joker when she smiles.

  • no salt really is a natural disinfectant you can use it on a wound if you have nothing else

  • @AlbanysFinest Yes, salt will help clean the wound. But it will hurt like you've never felt pain before.

  • Erbs? What the hell are erbs?

    Herbs perhaps?

  • ma va in mona

  • Actually Olive Oil isn't such a great idea when seasoning a board, it does eventually go rancid. A better choice would be canola or even salt pork, as its cured.

  • or cutting board oil I heard you can even use mineral oil I wouldn't though.

  • salt does kill the germs, pulls the water right out of their cells. I also use salt to clean my cast iron skillets

  • i wanna marry rachel ray hahahahah

  • i always use salt to absorb red wine stains, works really well

  • rub it

  • like so cool i didn't know salt was a disenfectant is that why when you pour salt on a wound it burns ? lol

  • rachael ray owns you all, i will now use salt to clean everything

  • she's kinda hot...I know

  • standing a chopping board on its end to stop warping, is non-sense. Why do wood plants store all their wood flat? Total non-sense.

  • looking at the board it still had green on it

  • Rachel Ray is awesome

  • what about lemon juice...I see my mother use that

  • which is more shocking- the fact that an entire audience is clapping for someone cleaning a cutting board, or the fact that RAchel Ray is SATAN in disguise??

  • I dunno, which?

  • i disagree but what u just said made me laugh like crazy XD

  • lol

  • my dad loves her

  • my dad loves her too :D

  • nice

  • yea i think salt kills germs, because when you put it on an open wound it burns which means it is fighting infection and germs.

  • good tip, but does salt really kill germs, I don't trust that

boiling water kills germs though, maybe I would use salt and boiling water, haha

  • yea it does, its why eating chicken soup from a can is popular when you are sick. the high salt content of the soup helps kill the cold germs.

  • @EddiesUniverse Pouring salty boiling water in a wound is just about the dumbest thing you can do.
