  • when the show was good

  • i love the harmonic movement in the second bar

  • i knew right away this was her when i watched the show..i bet myself that i would stab myself in the leg if i was wrong. ha ha

  • 0:29 The last guy out the door comes from Nowhere..

    ......

  • does anyone know what the alternate harmonization is when she deviates from the expected V7 in the vocal line and the acc,. ?

  • i came here because of regina, but this makes me wanna watch the show now!

  • @everybodypoops11 you should! it's a great show!

  • Check out my 2 yr old singing WEEDS intro "Little Boxes", and his other cute singing videos. They are quick and to the point. :) Thanks!

  • we watched this clip in my history class a couple months ago and I JUST found out that Regina sang it (I'm on a Regina Spektor binge lately) and I nearly shit bricks

  • Who the fuck disliked this?

  • This song gives me a boner. I'm a girl. :]

  • @OpeachblossomsO Freak...

  • @DriifTSnipiing That's not nice.

  • jesus, best cover of the song.

  • i LOVE this show! and i LOVE Regina and LOVE the fact that she sung for the show!!!

  • the best cover and episode of weeds ever. this show used to be sooo good

  • @TheFm73 its still a good show and that was the best intro imho. Regina is like magic and that comes from a metal head.

  • o_o wow su voz es preciosa y el cover a la canción de víctor jara le quedo precioso

  • victor jara revolution and therefore is creator but Regina Spektor has a voice is spectacular

  • I personally think the submarines cover is the best, but this is really good

  • What happens with the door at 0:28? D:

  • Beautiful song. Regina definitely does the best cover!

  • funny how this song was written 50 year ago and the conformity's only got worse

  • the best version! :))

  • it just suits her so well x

  • Regina se inspiro en VICTOR JARA

Regina was inspired by VICTOR JARA

victor jara las casita del barrio alto

  • @frankoweas Actually, Jara was inspired by the original version of this song, written by Malvina Reynolds in 1962. Thanks though, I hadn't seen the Spanish-language version.

  • @frankoweas infórmese antes de hablar, amigo

  • I don't hear a b in pink and people at all

  • @symondeboer you're just one out of those boxes , aren't you!:)

  • Be fair, we doctors are better than lawyers :P

  • @peel432 - I think you're absolutely about the mood, but I think that's kind of telling for our nonchalant generation, you know? :-)

  • The first Weeds episode I watched had Regina´s intro, and the piano intro of Ghost of Corporate Future. So I watched them all. haha.

  • Why does she pronounce /p/ as /b/? "there's a green one and a bink one," "and the beople in the houses." I like her version but why does she do that?

  • @11cylynt11 She's not originally American, she's originally Russian so there's a little bit of an accent on some words sometimes.

  • @padfootreturns92 O, thanks!

  • @11cylynt11 shes russian.

  • o_____o !!!!!! Victor Jara (chilean revolucionary) 's a fragment of his song

(song of victor jara: Las Casitas Del Barrio Alto)

  • my fav remake. I swear this song is the epitome of all indie bands/ artists lol

  • My favorite <3

  • <3 regina!

  • i got my first boner listening to this song!

  • @micker88 dude you might be gay

  • @micker88 that is hilarious...ty for sharing !

  • @micker88 why would this give you a boner?

  • this is great!

  • when i first heard this song on the show, I was like, "they should really pick regina spektor to do a version" and lo and behold! :D

  • @HoneeMustard My thoughts exactly

  • this song is perfect for her.... her voice is so amazing

  • 0:21 the first guy disappears?

    the fuck?

  • @CanadianSillyGoose hahahha....didn't see that one...well...

  • @CanadianSillyGoose the people in the background too, thats the twist of the end of the show. Everybody its a ghost. Judah is alive.

  • @CanadianSillyGoose wow.. never noticed that before. good eye

  • @CanadianSillyGoose They're all the same. Just showing the repetition of everything. I guess.

  • @CanadianSillyGoose

It's a result how it was made. All of them are the same person, just different cuts overlayed. If you look carefully at the background action you will see jumps where they cross over paths and things like that.

  • @CanadianSillyGoose The second guy ate him for one of two reasons: 1) Eating your fellow runners helps you burn calories faster, or 2) The second dude hated being second so he was like 'fuck that' and ate the #1 guy.

  • This is song is political activist protest about the developing suburbia in the 1960's more specifically in California...Malvina Reynolds wrote this song in 1969 and it is her interpretation of the growing suburbian housing development of that time...However, any song can be interpreted differently by each listener....I love it, however I am a big fan of Bob Seegers rendition...

  • @Bella8106

Loved your comment... I really didn't know that!

  • 52 seconds of awesome

  • amazing song.. regina spektor

  • malvina reynolds wrote this song

  • @Gresaaa Actually, Chilean song writer Victor Jara wrote the song, decades ago.

  • @kerplunka409 Sorry to correct you, but the original song was by Malvina Reynolds.

Victor Jara's version was written in 1971, years later the original.

    Source: wikipedia

  • @kerplunka409 how about no

    malvina reynolds wrote it

  • pete seeger, folk legend, plays this song and it just cant be done like him

  • They may be made of ticky-tacky, but theres a green one, a pink one, a blue one, AND a yellow one?? I highly doubt they're all the same.

  • @LookLoveShoot , hahah can´t stop laughing!

  • Regina, and Deathcab. Best ones

  • @billyRwicked and Persephone's Bees. That one was awesome too. But Regina always tops everything else. Love her <3

  • what is this episode?

  • And, the song that plays right after this in the episode is a Regina song too.

  • I recognized it!

  • This sounds way better than the version that I'm familiar with. But you know, Regina, the point is supposed to be that everything's uniform and conformity, and you added all that flair to the song, which doesn't quite fit, does it?

  • @dest1ntheory

That's the irony of this song, the song is all about being just the same as everyone else, but then they have a diffrent artist cover the song for every episode, it's just a bunch of irony.

  • "...All went to universities, where they were all put into boxes"

    (L) her.

  • the 'Death Cab' version is the best one, IMO

  • I recognised her voice as I heard it!

  • @ffxswiman33 But is you house still made of Ticky Tacky?

  • I literally JUST heard this song and first thing I did was search to see if my suspicions were right.

Fuck yeah, it IS the best one!

  • This actually makes me want to watch Weeds. I love Regina Spektor and this song!

  • This version fits this opening the best!

  • This and the Death Cab one are my favorite versions

  • 420 thousand views..lol

  • i love the origional and i love the show weeds!

  • her and zooey dechanel in the same episode.

    (:

    life.

  • If you watch closely... One of the male runners in the beginning disappears

  • @eskimoturtles1 True! :| never noticed that

  • I'm currently watching Weeds for the first time and I just heard this opening. Within 2 seconds hearing this voice I knew it was Regina's. Such an amazing voice.

  • @xxplicitt004 This is exactly what happened with me.

  • the best cover that the show ever had. hands down.

  • regina spektor and weeds. my two favorite things.

  • I am on this! I am the girl on the swings with my twin my sister in the park!

  • id love it if i got feedback from you all about my little boxes cover? its on my channel : )

  • Weeds has such a good soundtrack. When it comes to music Weeds by far is my favorite.

  • Hey did you ever notice that the first jogger just disappeared into thin air?

  • @PavlovsStepson That was weird. Hahahaha. Never noticed it until now, And I watched all the episodes.

  • I personally prefer the original Malvina Reynolds version, myself. No disrespect, Regina.

  • merci

  • Wow! I heard this years ago before I knew about Regina and remember listening very closely to the odd lyrics :P

  • her voice makes my loins i mean heart quiver

  • I love the fact that Regina Spektor was born in the wrong century. She should have been born in the early nineteen hundreds. just based on her looks and the way her voice sounds. its like a piece of history in the modern times

  • @sd12swizzleg DONT SAY THAT! Then I couldn't go to her concerts...

  • My boyfriend has all of the seasons of Weeds. I watched it, and right away I commented that I'd like this song if only Regina Spektor would sing it. Five seasons later, I learned that she in fact did. :D Now I love it.

  • :) Regina's so awesome, I didn't like this song very much before, but now I love it!

  • love this show

  • Such a beautiful voice

  • everything is better with spektor

  • Hmm. For some reason I find the Malvina Reynolds version better. This doesn't quite capture the mood right.

It doesn't sound revolutionary, or protesting or anything. It just sounds kind of like "Oh well. We suck. Too bad."

Although I absolutely love Regina Spektor. Her voice and songwriting are beautiful.

  • Not bad, but I like the original one the most :I

  • don't even get the song, but she makes anything sound good :)

  • The song was a social commentary about the conformity in suburbs during the 1950s :D

    I live Regina.

  • @disgrace93 It's about the social conformity in today's society

  • @pdunny1920 Well I mean it was written in the 50s... so I assume Malvina Reynolds wasn't talking about 2010 when she wrote it. Sure, now we use it to protest social conformity today.

  • @disgrace93 I think Malvina Reynolds was just talking about people who live in uniforms.

  • @disgrace93 She was talking about the middleclass suburbia bullshit which started in the 50's

  • I WISH I HAD HER VOICE!

  • regina spektor rules!

    XD

  • Her version is just so pleasant to my ears.

  • ...reminds me of america xD

  • @karlkapipi

I'm pretty sure it is about America.

  • Best intro ever.

  • i love that song

  • Intense.

  • By FAR the best one.

  • Agreed!

I kind of liked the rap one. But the song is supposed to sound slow and calm.

  • i see what you did there

  • @lengtith absolutely

  • I love her voice... and her interpretation, with some little changes ;)

  • This could be a song by Regina - its made for her...

  • @Saladbowl I'd have to agree. The lyrics could easily be mistaken for something she'd have written.

  • this is the best weeds intro by far. regina sings little boxes best!!!

  • Hahahaha, the whole NoOneLaughsAtRegina scam is funny tho ^^

  • good lord, she sings so pretty

  • Doug pisses me off at how stupid he is. I like Andy =) even though he's a man whore.

  • Best 'weeds' cover of the song! Love the Shins one too...

Love the idea of a new cover for each episode. Weeds is a great show, especially Doug.. what a legend.

  • Perfect.

  • This is my favourite show. When the producers asked me to record the theme, I couldn't resit! I hope I did justice to the perfect original.

  • *resist. Oh shit, I'm so horrible at spelling in English.

  • @NoOneLaughsAtRegina

you're not regina spektor she's been living here since she was 9, i think your typo and the cover up was lame.

  • Please tell me you're really Regina. I will cry if you aren't.

  • if this really is regina...i just discovered your music through this episode and am an instant fan...keep up the creativity

  • i knew this was her!!!!!!!!

  • Good god, the Regina one is the one worth listening to.

  • cute! she's so damn cute and talented.

  • I haven't cried for a while.

  • I also never realized this was her on the show. I own the first three seasons, and I just smile every time I watch an episode and hear this song, no matter who is singing it. =)

  • 3 years ago, and she still sounds amazing! :D

  • wha?

im gonna watch that show now... I heard it was good from people before, but i dont listen to people :T

  • Stupidly enough, I'd never realised this was her...

  • They were each done by different singers the 2nd season!

  • it's not originally regina singing in the theme song. for the first season it's the original version by malvina reynolds, but the second and third seasons feature others singing it.

  • my fav show, my fav singer....

  • Malvina Reynolds definately made the best version, but its always very hard to make a "cover" and hit the same taste in people, but this is a good try to hit other peoples taste by a little different version of the song... Malvina comes in at first place with this song in my opinion, then Rise Against, then this version. but still very nice version.

  • Comment removed

  • I like Regina, but I love Malvina Reynolds' original the best.

  • It is probably the best not including a version by pete seeger, who after all made the song famous.

  • I love this version, but nobody beats Pete Seeger, brother, nobody. I really dig this, however, I'm loving it... I remember there was an a cappela verson here on youtube, but I liked that too, I think it was also regina.

  • Fave, of all the artists, RS does it best.

  • yes she does clevettia. 100% agreed. and i am in love with this show

  • Favorite rendition of this song.

  • Rise Against

  • my favorite singer and my favorite show :D this makes me super happy!

  • yay for regina! i like her rendition the best :D

  • this show is the greatest...and iam even not smoking!!!!

  • i remember watching this episode and when it started i heard regina...holy moly. weeds + regina = pure dopeness.
