I am a longtime student at Oishi Judo here in NYC. Many Americans are skeptical of Aikido because it looks choreographed. I was skeptical too so I took Aikido for 1 year at NY Aikikai and learned the truth. Aikido is very effective. Uke *must* move with tori to protect his joints. It helped improve my balance and ne-waza. When I have more time, I will go back to Aikido but I definitely want my daughter to do it. She's 3 now. When she turns 5 or 6, I'll take her to Aikikai.
