911 police officer refuses to help girl who calls about her dying father and she gets jailed

They hate me. I watched 5 of them arrest a skinny little 13 or 14 year old kid for smoking and slam him around like he was a 300lb man resisting arrest (which he wasn't). I parked the truck to watch so they knew they had a witness (hoping that'd get them to ease up on him). They sent one of the officers over to me to inspect my work truck and find a reason to ticket me. I went to the station after work to file a complaint and when I got there there they had the kid's parents there telling them..

I spoke up and told the parents the real story and gave them my number incase they end up needing a witness for anything. The mom flipped out on the police. It felt good but I wouldn't advise anyone do it unless you live out of this area.

The dispatcher is very unprofessional, as they are supposed to put the call ahead of their feelings. However the female caller seemed more concerned about her own feelings as well. I do not know what it is like in the United States of America, but I do know that in Canada, our dispatchers are not Police Officers, but are civilians who are sworn in. I pray that this man is punished, but I hope he is forgiven. Everyone makes mistakes, but not everyone has such an important job.

The officer's handling of the call was unprofessional, dangerous, and indefensible. His subsequent arrest of the caller on bogus charges is actionable. The officer is a bully and a brute and has no business on ANY police department. He should be fired.

Sadly, there have been many cases through the years of 911 operators hanging up and/or denying emergency services to callers who didn't show sufficient "respect." In almost every such case, the 911 operators have been fired.
