  • I also have a male westie that growls to show affection..

  • Estresas a ese perro!

  • my westie does that when i look at him 0__0

  • Westies are just loud they wouldn't dare to bite his/her owner.

  • @nordocska1 they do bite, i got sevrel bite marks down my arms. i was only stroking my Westie D:

  • @flarewolf98 Well mine wouldn't bite me ^^ She's a lil angel :3 But i love how they're growling xD

  • And another this is that Westies are not huggy snuggly lap dogs. Mine stay just out of reach so you can pet them but not smother them. They are very good loyal dogs, but most of them are independent. When you talk baby talk and get in their face, they see you as submissive and they take charge. Puppys lick an adult dogs face to ask for food. When you kiss a Westies face, you are being a puppy not the boss.

  • The dog is growling because his belly is exposed. While he is in this position a large predator could tear out his belly. See what I mean? It's instinct that makes him growl as a warning. I have had many Westies. The alpha ones don't like to be put in a submissive position like that. It's better to wait till they are lying down and relaxed and playful to put them in this position. You assert that you are boss and they learn to trust you.

  • My Westie does this if you pick him up while he's preoccupied. He usually growls and gives me sugar at the same time lol. I don't think she's hurting him, Westies can be a bit growly and even snappy compared to some other breeds.

  • LOL it's possessed.

  • She isn't hurting it! Gotta love the internet. Where the dumb asses aren't afraid to express themselves!

  • lol u people are ridiculous dogs act different with different people. my westie does exactly that every time my sisters friend gets near him, but hes loving to everyone else ! shes not hurting him, dogs yelp when theyre hurt

  • let him alone poor doggy :(

  • rabies

  • Learn how to treat a dog you idiot. If you had any sense you'd treat your dog like a dog not a doll.

  • stop calling your dog demon westie just because you dont know how to treat it properly

  • You want this to stop? The listen ahead.

    a. You're being REALLY tense with this guy. STOP IT.

    b. You actually petting him when he's aggressive like that. Only give affection when he's calm.

    c. If he does give warnings like that snap him out of it (remaining calm and assertive) by touch the neck or if you have the lead give a little tug to the side.

But above all please respect your dog! He's not develish

JUst think on what YOU'RE doing.

  • hahahaha!

good grief I don't hurt my dog! This is something that started happening when only my mom picks him up..he rarely does this..it just cracks us up. AND he jumped in her lap licking her face right after this was taken to do it again. He loves her!

I'm glad you all have docile Westies..but ours are feisty!

  • That's horrible. Obviously he doesn't want to be held like that. I've had 4 westies and all were as sweet as could be.

  • @ErinAshlie100 nah, a lot of westies do that, if he honestly wanted her to stop he'd have snacked at her. My westie growls rediculously, not as bad as that but its just him, sometimes we think its the only noise he knows how to make. Its a common westie thing, look it up.

  • Yeah, our Westie was almost that bad ! He got much better as he got older and became a lovable sook !

  • I have a Westie and he never acts like that. He has growled but not like that Id put him down! By the way my dogs name is Champ too lol.

  • my westie never does that nd he is awesome he is 9 years old and has only evr done one thing wrong and that is that he can't stop sniffin

  • that is not a typical westie behaviour. they can be little moody but there is something wrong wit ur dog to react so badly. i never seen a westie displayin its teeth like that.

  • me neither... my loves being picked up and teased! when i tease her, she growls just a bit, licks my hand then i kiss her and release her!

  • just like my westie..he hates when sombody try to suffocate his freedom...

  • WOW!! I'm surprised he/she didn't bight her. When my westie does that it means "Leave me alone!!" She always tries to bight.

  • HOH GOD! I've got a lil' Westie, but does nothing like that! XD

  • My westie behaves this way. It is a form of playing, They are very self-confident and yes opinionated. Typical Westie behavior...

  • They do act like this...they are terriers. 99% of the time he is doing everything possible to sit in everyones lap. This dog is spoiled and loved very much. He loves making this noise...he is crazy! She is not hurting him.

  • mine does that too but i cant hold him like that otherwise he'll bite my nose off so when he does that i spray him with water HA HA HA WET WESTIE

  • its just playing

    mines does that too

    but for fun

  • You shouldn't really do that.

  • The groomer calls my westie "opinionated" ... she hates being moved or held, and she hates it when her head is down and you try to kiss the top of her head ... funny how they'll let you know they don't like something, but the next minute they're cuddling up licking your nose!

  • Watch my other video of Chopper to see that he does behave somewhat normal!

  • You have a rabid wesite!

  • ok dont get me wrong it is obvious that you love your dog and im sure you treat it well but the dog clearly does not like been hugged like that so why do it.

  • My mother is crazy and enjoys tormenting my dog.

  • i'm sure the dog loves the routine of growling/showing teeth like that. i'm serious. My dog would freak if i picked him up so,when playin around with him, i would pick him up, toss him on the couch, then i would flop on the couch. He would run right up to my face, teeth bared, and growling like the dog in this video. As long as i acted scared he'd stay inches from my face/teeth exposed, and snarling away. In the split second it took me to to talk baby talk to him,he'd give kisses ,tail wagging.

  • "Terrier", from the Latin for earth. Bred to chase badgers and rabbits into their burrows and drag them out. You can't expect them to be passive 24/7.

  • That is Chopper exactly. I should post a video of what he does to our innocent sleeping German Shepherd that is minding her own business. This dog is a lunatic! But I love him

  • My westie does the same sort of thing everytime you pick her up, but doesn't show the teeth, but she can be abit grumpy. I think this is normal? lol.

  • my westie has never even growled before lol

if he play bites you and you say ow

    he feels bad hahaha

  • Have Westies ever been known to attackwhen angry like this one?

  • No...he never attacks. He's very sweet and most of the time rarely growls unless aggressively hugged. Westies are the best dogs ever!

  • When I first saw this your Westie reminded me of a viper with that hissing sound she makes. It's hilarious. I also used to have two Westies, and the male tends to get jealous. Your dogs are very cute.

  • you have two westies? JEALOUS!

those are some crazy teeth though. my westie does the same thing sometimes.

  • That's crazy! would scare the shit out of me.

  • mine does that!!

  • is it a tipical westie attitude?!

cause mine acts the same way!

  • This is the most awesome video EVER! Chopper is Nuts!
