  • That extra 400 feet they give on an ILS is the difference!!!

  • Props, that was sweet. UND's warrior? I almost went there

  • hey man excellent video, i bet you felt great once you saw the reils , nailed it!

  • Great video...but cannot see anything

  • Nice video, thanks for sharing. Great landing...speed control and runway alignment all the way to touchdown.

  • Un poco largo el video, pero está bueno, ánimooooooo =)

  • This video gets me so fired up for my inst. ticket. I have had my private for a few years now but just recently sraped the cash together to dedicate for training. Good job moto....Lets stay safe up there

  • loved it! :)

  • wow that was bad weather

  • wow, those were some low minimums, pretty close no?

  • Nice approach and landing..... amazing skills!! saludos de Costa Rica

  • Nice video. I can't wait to start my instrument rating.

  • I'd just like to add, thanks for sharing. Good job. Does the Avidyne system show you the missed approach path and ILS procedure?....or did you have to dig in your bag for that? How did you find the parking ramp, by the way? Avidyne again? Was there other traffic in the pattern? Could you see them on your TCAS?

  • @JetMechMA

The avidyne will show the Missed procedure if you load the approach in the gps which I did not here. Missed approach procedure normally on the approach plate. Ramp is found by turning off the runway contacting a ground controller. No traffic in the pattern since ceiling were too low for vfr. We can see other planes with ADS-B not on a tcas system

  • I've heard about ADS-B but don't remember what it is exactly. How do you see traffic ...is there a dedicated display for ADS-B? Is this in the US? I didn't think we had it here yet...but I'm out of the loop these days so I wouldn't know.

  • @JetMechMA ADS-B is a gps based system and traffic is displayed on a multi function dispaly. relatively new technology and the base of the next gen air traffic control system

  • @JetMechMA Google. :)

  • correct. i didn't feel like getting into that lol

  • Wow, it is awesome, thank you for sharing

  • I just wanna say... Good job man ! Not an easy ILS and kiss landing after that !

  • good vid... but probably could have gone without the first 3 minutes of flying through cloud

  • Great landing!!!

  • Nicely done! Great landing too!

  • Can anyone explain me what minimums are?

  • In reference to ceiling (cloud height above ground) and ground visibility, it's the minimum legal weather conditions one can perform an instrument approach to landing in.

In other words, if the minimums for a certain approach are 300ft (ceiling) and 1mi visibility, it would not be legal to fly and instrument approach to a landing at less than 300ft reported ceiling or 1mi reported visibility.

You can fly the approach but you can't land.

  • theres lot of different kind of minimums. But while landing via ILS minimums are the altitude in which you need to see the runway and decide whether or not your landing. If you can't see it, or your off course from it you innitiate go-around and fly a missed approach.

  • Excellent point thank you for adding..

  • minimuns is the minimum weather condidion that airport operates.

  • @cyberyiyo Hello, minimum, is the minimum allowed height in landing

  • to clarify its the minimum altitude you can descend to without seeing the runway. if you get to minimums and don't see runway you must go around

  • Looks like you have done that more than once..way to keep those needles dead on..good job

  • Nice job man! My personal mins are not that balsy lol!

  • I like a good ILS as much as the next guy, but the first 3:00 minutes are all the same. :)

  • Wow talk about IMC! God bless the ILS!

  • fark u got balls in that weather in a warrior xD

  • Woooh IFR with a warrior very unusual...

  • why is it very unusual?

  • Well flown! Always a bit of a pucker factor when it's at minimums!

  • Very nicely done! In weather like that... you really have to be on your best! Great job again and thanks for the nice video to watch! :)

  • that's awesome! i'm also learning to fly at und and it's nice to see an ILS landing on youtube for GFK!!

  • are you a student at UND?

  • Good job! Been in that situation many times in the past, in DC-6's and later in 737's and 757's.

It never changes. The saying "my ass was biting rivets" applies the world over to those who take to the skies. Well done and thanks.

  • Perfect approach and nicely done!

I know it's almost always impossible to measure distance accurately looking through the camera's lens, but looks like vis was less than 1/2 mi.

    Either way, sweet!

  • nice. now that's ifr

  • nice!, well done!

  • Nicely done!

  • Terrific video - thanks for posting it!

  • Tree Fife? Contract student?

  • My bad just read in the info you had already gone missed once. Gotta love it

  • Great approach my friend, I'm guessing you were about 3 seconds from going missed when you popped out. That feeling never gets old

  • Hmmm, what was the minima at this airport

  • Nice stable approach to mins, sobering for a VFR pilot.

  • excellent job

  • the first 3 minutes of this video are pretty actionless, he?

  • now thats impressive!!!!

  • Was autopilot flying the approach or was it hand flown?

  • hand flown there is no autopilot on our warriors

  • Now thats what you call flying. I've been flying for years. A little bit IFR not much, mostly VFR, but never used an autopilot ever.

  • Runway tree fife ha ha! You only need to use this method of speaking on the radio and during radio exams, come on buddy, doing it here is a little over the top!!!

  • Nice flying. After seeing you braking out, there was no way you could have made it on the VOR APPR. Nice fyling!

  • turn next taxiway

  • "tree fife ?" wtf

  • check the Aeronautical information manual page 4-2-7 look at table 4-2-2 and you will understand

  • I Know! lol

I have AIM right next to me

  • pilot 1:Are there ant trees on the appraoch end of the runway?

Pilot 2; Oh yes, there are a lot of 3's, they all have on their sesame street 3 costumes on and they run all over when you shine your landing light on them like they are Barney 5.

  • Was this a crosswind or was it just what it looked like

  • We were landing runway 35 winds were 070@10

  • IA can also mean Instrument-Airplane. Look at your certificate. I assume you went to UND too.

  • Good job!

  • Almost looked similar to a "Westjet Missed Approach"

  • Nice job. Not an IFR rated guy, myself, but your approach and especially your landing was excellent. Should be proud of a job well done. m.d.

  • I like the part where the airframe ice begins to melt

  • HUH? There was no Ice here

  • What does an inspector authorization(IA) rating have to do with it. It's an instrument rating.

  • Nice... WHAT MAKE/MODEL A/C

  • 2005 Piper warrior III with the avidyne system. Says in the description

  • Ah the joys of flying in ND. I knew there was a reason I moved to AZ after graduating from UND

  • Very well done. Great Landing! That has to be an eery feeling.

  • jeeebus. you sure that was minimums? didn't squeak in a couple of feet?

  • Dumbass.

  • Well maybe it looked like that but from my experience in Pipers, the cowling really obstructs your view i.e. if you're filming. Maybe the guy had the lights at 200 (or whatever mins) are and then was out of the deck at 100...that was met for sure it looked like!

  • Great skills!

  • Excellent job.

  • Cool, nice landing!

  • Nicely done :-) Gotta luv that IA rating!
