Why would ANYONE go to the trouble to "fake" a clip like this? The potential for income via such a project can't be all that much...given the number of commercial TV shows and feature films dealing with such activity...and, how many "fake" horseshoe and re-bar manufacturing companies have ever existed?
first of all let us accept the fact that this clip could be faked. if someone was motivated to fake a clip like this it would be possible to do. Now on to your claim of "fake" re-bar manufacturing companies likely being non-existant. I completely agree, it is very unlikely a company exists that manufactures "fake re-bar.
However, companies do exist that manufacture lead bars. It would be easy in the extreme to fake a steel bar bend by using a lead bar. In regards to fake horseshoe companies, again I agree, they probably do not exist.
Let us assume that there are no companies that manufacture "fake" horseshoes. Does that mean that fake horseshoes could not be obtained? Of course not. The question is how easily could a fake horseshoe be obtained? I think a fake horseshoe could be obtained very easily
. Freeze the video around the 29 second mark. If you look it can be seen clearly that there are no nail holes or slots for nails in the horseshoe. I checked with a friend who is a farrier (and also happens to be a woman)and she confirmed my suspicion. Virtually all mass produced horseshoes have nail holes.
So it is unlikely that the horseshoe in the picture is a mass produced horseshoe. However, it is certainly possible to go to a farrier and get a custom made horseshoe made out of steel. The SAME THING applies to horseshoes made out of lead. As far as I know even steel and aluminum horseshoes can be cold forged with a hammer. Lead would be MUCH easier to hammer forge into shape, without any heat. Much easier even than aluminum.
So a fake horseshoe would be fairly easy to obtain. Buy the lead and give it to a farrier to shape. I have, I think, firmly established that not only that faking a horseshoe bend could be done but it would be fairly easy to do. Now as far as motivation goes
: you mention there being no financial incentive to faking this clip. I can cite many examples of people using deception without hope for financial gain. Money is a powerful motivator but it is not the only motivator. If you look on youtube there are many exmaples of faked strength feats and I can provide MANY links if you like. Marta Farra was an old time strong woman who was exposed as being a fake. THis is documented.
Also, thomas inch, creator of the inch dumbell was very likely involved in deception in his strength acts. Another damning piece of evidence is the way she bends the horseshoe. She actually opens the mouth of the horseshoe at the same time as bending it into an S shape. The larger cross sectional dimension of each leg of the horseshoe is easily over an inch.
The smaller cross sectional dimension is much small and appears to be somewhere around 1/4 inch. It is extremely unlikely she could bend it along the 1 inch plus dimension. I would have been less skeptical if it was bent purely into an S shape. However it is clear from the video, that the horseshoe is also being straightened along the one inch plus dimension.
Also, this is NOT the whole video. At the end of the full video there is possibly the strongest evidence to suggest it is fake. There used to be a yahoo group with the full video. I could talk about this forever, but previous posts of mine have been erased. DO I thin ka woman could bend a horseshoe? yes. SOmeone like elizabeth horne could bend a horseshoe, although not a draft horseshoe.
Do I think this video is a fake? Yes I most certainly do. It would be easy to fake this and there are signs of it being faked in the video. THe woman is bending what appears to be a draft sized horsehsoe. Not even elizabeth horne could do that in my opinion and there is NO WAY this woman is stronger than elizabeth.
linsabebe ripping phonebooks in half is NOT that difficult at all. Once shown how to do it almost anyone can perform the feat. Don't believe me? do a youtube search with the keyword phonebook...you will find fat people, skinny people, women, a 94 year old man, even a young kid ripping a phonebook while he is riding a skateboard...and YES ME ALSO
No this is not a fake. The McRaes were friends of my family before I was born in the 50's. Growing up I had no idea she was one of those Muscle Beach alumni. Someone even wrote a book with her on the cover in a muscle pose.
Hello, very good performence, a really strongwoman, bestregard
