No doubt. I barely even listen to old hip-hop like this...I'm a nerdy white guy that likes prog-rock. But I can appreciate this stuff, and I remember how good it was when I was young...Ice Cube, Da Lench Mob, Dre, Grandmaster Flash, Run DMC...it was all great stuff...
Too bad about hip-hop these days. 99% of it is crap. Or it's devolved into these east vs. west vs. south vs. north cock-waving battles. (As on this very page.)
Just look at the scope of this video...it transcends cultures and nations with the imagery and samples. Fucking genius.
So true man. This is back when rap could be about a message, not about how many times you can drop the line "on my grind" on one track. I am a 17 year old white Canadian and I cant stand ANYTHING made past 2001. I wish rap was about lyrical genius, and not how big your dick was (metaphorically).

I think torontoismine is trying to wind people up. Because there is no way he can believe the words he wrote.

rakim fans let me ask you a question : HOW DOES IT FEEL knowing that soulja boy, at only age 19., has already SURPASSED rakim and every other hip hop artist ever, and soulja is the new best rapper of all time, HOW DOES THAT FEEL ?
