  • What was that bag made of? Nylon instead of glass fiber???

I know that lithium battery fires can produce hydrofluoric acid that may eat through glass (fiber). Did that happen here????

  • @AerialTheShamen Fiberglass... the flames got hot enough to melt the fibers, and even ignite in a few small spots, but there is a resin that binds the fibers, that is what most of the flames from the bag where from.

  • Oops..hit return...my concern is the B6AC is designed to be plugged into my computer and has relatively short cords. A fire like this could potentially take out the battery, the charger, the computer and the house! Are there any good bags on the market?

  • @Canute36 All of the bags I have seen are made of fiberglass and are similar in construction.

  • I looked through your other videos and didn't see one but have you tested any bags that actually DID contain the fire? I have a Sky B6AC charger on the way

  • I wish I could shoot fames.

  • i have lipo withhard case pack and i dont need it

  • Is there any way of knowing if you got a knock off or not? I bought what looks like the exact same bag from ProMatch Racing for $15 and need to know if mine is going to do the same damn thing. Also beside ammo crates are there other bags that have been tested and will actually hold up to a lipo explosion. If so what are they and how much do they cost.

Thanks for your help on this.

    Cheers

  • @Raven215 I'll send you a message about the bag. I just happen to know of the best containment device available! Go to my Youtube page and click on the link for my website. I'm the inventor of the LipoLocker. a ceramic containment device with a fire suppression system.

  • I'm pretty sure that you got a hot deal.

  • @hgscanavino That's really bad! (wish I said it haha)

  • Most likely, this LiPO not have caught in fire,

if it would have been outside the bag! Any way, not in this development...

It need to be just the right amount of heat/oxygen/material to burn...

So in this case, with to low oxygen level inside this bag! Perfect fire!

Outside this lipo bag at least One thing of this three would not have been "perfect"

IMO, use common sens and a fire prof ceramic plate, that will do!

AND Don't believe all we see at YT... Any stu... can add what ever up here...

  • @MagnusNr1 There are many examples of batteries outside of bags that have flames. Even with using common sense, people make mistakes, equipment can fail, and batteries can have unseen damage or bad cells. IMHO

  • My previous comments that I removed below expressed my doubts as to the validity of this test in which I questioned the placement of the pack into the bag. Having now purchased a Lipo-Safe pack (the exact one tested here) I can now see how the flames were able to escape out the sides. The lack of velcro in the internal area of the pack underneath the flap area leaves about an inch of wide open space on the sides even when properly placed and sealed. Not a smart design in my opinion.

  • Buy ammo cans at a army surplus store. They are great for charging and storing your lipos in.

  • @jauchiu Only one thing better than a ammo can; a LipoLocker

  • what voltage/amperage where you charging with, i mean i know you did this on purpose I just want to know what it took to set it on fire.

  • @NoobyRC It's a 14.8v battery charged at 18.8 volts and 2X the recommended amps. (Not directed at you NoobyRC ;) For those who are new and think this is the only thing that can cause a lipo fire, practically every instance I have read about lipo fires happened with normal charging! Please read the video description for details.

  • @parrotpilot Yea wow, this is major eye opener for me! I have been using a little 3 cell .2 amp charger it takes it 4 to 5 hours to charge a 2200 mah 3cell, and I have seance upgraded to a "supermate DC6" charger. I think It can go up to like 5 amps on the charge.

Now I am going to be very careful on using it and charge on low amps, be patient and charge out in the back porch inside our stone flower earn. I really didn't know they burnt up like that.

    Thanks for the video

  • Excellent video - really proves the point that those bags only give a false sense of security. Sad to see all these nice lipos go up in flames :-)

  • @altonman Can you imagine being the guy that's charging a questionable battery after a crash right now, what do you suspect he's thinking about? All of the lipos I'm using for the tests are at least "puffy" and not safe to use anymore.

  • Cool Video ParrotPilot. Well guess the Ebay bag didn't help much... LOL

  • @rcFoamFighters It contributed to the flames; IT WAS BURNING! LOL

  • Wow, that Lipo bag is crap, thanks for posting the video, could save some people a lot of grief.

  • @Skydive4ever How many people do you think have several of those bags right now? I can almost hear it now when people see these on eBay; "Hmm, $ .99 each? I'll take 10!"

  • wow what a poor bag! you should complain to the manufacturer! my $15 ebay lipo sack has held up to 3 lipo burstings, one of which was a big enough bang to crack the roof tile it was resting on.

    very informal video!

  • how much is a life worth.?....no deal ...cheap bag..
