  • Dude, totally going through this right now in my adult life. Lol I remembered this commercial from when I was in high school and thought about it just now.

  • Clingy loser!

  • One of my favorite commercials ever. Guys, I think we've all been there!

  • Damn! Hanging on the Telephone is The Nerves song. To think for all this long time I thought this was Blondie's song (they did do a fantastic job with it), I didn't think to investigate the song, but hell you learn new things everyday.

Cat Power did a GREAT job as well!!!!

  • Wow, a time when Cinguar/AT&T didn't suck. I miss Cingular. My EDGE speeds were like 200kbps instead of 2kbps, had unlimited internet and text messages for $30, compared to now 2 GBs of data and 200 messages.. Thanks, AT&T...

  • Lance Acord...One of the strongest cinematographers working today, no doubt.

  • has the FULL VERSION of this ever been released yet? i guess its possible she didn't actually record the whole song, which sucks.

  • i see in the comments that this is the case. bummer.

  • @milowent apparently Cat Power has a knack for doing that alot. Like with their cover of Space Odditiy.

  • I loved this commercial when it first came out. I'm glad I found it and I'm SUPER glad I found out who sings this Nerves song!

  • the nerves own all of this.

  • cocktease.

  • THIS IS BLASPHEMY.

  • CAt Powers..tsk tsk. She has done this before. SHe did a small track for a dimond commercial, and recently she did one for Lincoln..Space Oddity. BUt she never does a full version :(

  • There is no full-length.

When artists create song specifically for commercials they usually only put together little one minute nuggets to follow the action.

When the commercial ends the song usually does shortly after.

  • That trend is irritating me to no end, particularly when there are good covers like this one.

  • Yeah. It is a lovely piece.

  • Comment removed

  • why doesn't he call her???

  • because he's a proud macho man who doesn't pay his phone bill

  • no, because she said "I'll call u later". so he waits

  • it's because he doesn't have her phone number.

  • blondie's version is way better.

  • Can anybody give me a link to downliad this MP3? PLS I really like it!

  • I've been looking for this!!

  • excellent--she should release this as a cd!!!!!!!!!

  • Too bad an mp3 of this cover does not exist. Oh well, probably not as powerful without the visuals from the commercial anyway.

  • Okay, I'm not a huge chan fan or anything, but WHY THE FUCK can't I find this cover anywhere???? This is bullshit! This is such a beautiful version of a beautiful song. God Damn It!

  • thank you for posting this commercial!

  • I know she's done a jukebox record of covers recently, but I've heard her do better covers which werent on that cd (has she done another covers record?) e.g. she should cover more nick cave and maybe tom waits even, she does a great gnarls barley cover, and this song on the commerical.

  • chan marshall has extremely dissapointed me, someone should send her some wine, she's doing atrocious stuff now, bring back the myra lee chan PLEASE.

  • i totally agree with you outlinedme =( i did like this song though.

  • noooooo! the greatest was her best album!

  • Okay, as awesome as this ad (and the song) are, does anyone know where I might find the shorter version of the commercial? There's a bit in that which isn't in this one- where he does the victory fists after picking up the phone. It makes me so happy, I'd love to see it again. Please? Anyone?

  • havenstar i agree completely, everytime i think of this commercial i try to find that version but to no avail.

  • "hanging on the telephone" was originally done by the Nerves, not Blondie. she covered the song later pushing it into mainstream success.

  • Yes. Hence my saying, "The Nerves's (via Blondie) 'Hanging on the Telephone.'" Because it's by the Nerves, and Chan Marshall probably heard/discovered it via Blondie's cover.

  • did i mention i'm an idiot?

  • I think that was implied.

  • does anyone know who the actor in this is? he looks so familiar...

  • He looks familiar to me too.

  • I only saw all the bars when I watched it again, lol...

  • also the juice on the plane and the cards on the buisness table.

  • do you guys notice that bar going up thing in the beginning with the soap in the shower, the flowers, and the candles at the bar?

  • I had no idea this was Cat Power

  • I love this ad!!!

  • so...is there anywhere to find the shorter, television version of this commerical. i like that one better, just his reaction at the end when he finally does get the call he's been waiting for.

  • SO CUTE!!!

  • it's because she only recorded a minute or so... but it's fucking ace because Chan Marshall is a diva

  • as much as i LOVE cat power, this was pretty f*ing lame.

  • HOW DEPRESSING...One of the greatest pop songs ever written used to sell...SELL SELL SELL AMERICA...CONSUME...images...aesthetics...art...CONSUME...Turn all that was created out of genuine need to express a sentiment into an advertising mechanism...CONSUME YOU FUCKS...Long live the NERVES!!!!KILL the CAT.

  • In the past year, cell phone commericals have become the best ads out there.

  • does anybody have this on mp3?? i want it so much!

  • i have it!!

  • can u send it to me, please?

  • sure! how can i send you?

  • awsome

  • are you kidding me? i like this cover so much!

  • she has some awesome voice. when that guitar started grinding, the song started to sound bad.
