  • "Rock and roll was not enough to reflect all the facets of what was happening." :)

  • fuk, camera work at 1.30 on......sigh. BBC.....why is that north american cinematography is so boring/bland and safe? Of course, such camera work is appropos of the content but........damn, have we learnt nothing over time???

  • Gracias por subir este documental!!

  • 8:39 - 8:47 oh a short clip of the uk comedy "Fawlty Towers!" ^^

  • LOL @ Iggy drilling that coconut. :)) Damn BBC did so many great documentaries. I wish they would sell these online in good quality!

  • "it was great, but I didnt know it was music"

  • he was Germany's top jazz musician, until he had an ephiphany.. "you must play monotonous.."

  • "not to be Anglo-phonic, but to be German. So, "space" was one solution"

  • You know what's really fucking odd? About two minutes into this video, I randomly started thinking of "We Will Fall" by The Stooges, then out of nowhere comes Iggy Pop. I about shit myself, lol.

  • Go Britain!

  • It has been so hard for me to watch this documentary on the computer without pausing and getting lost in a wiki page or other YT video on the subjects. AWE

  • i feel very comfortable near water...it has some effect i cant really explain..!

  • cement mixer *dead*

  • Conny Plank was a god. RIP. He produced so many great bands and records - and not just German bands.

  • Anyone else uncomfortable with the term "krautrock"? I'm not even German and I feel leery about using it, it's a wartime ethnic slur anyway you look at it.

  • @TheGreaterGood80 I like it, Sauerkraut is a nice food anyway.

  • @Gonnakillyou lol

  • NEU!

  • What the hell! Fauste were totally crazy!

  • its funny how iggy has the same voice as hugh hefner

  • I love Faust, but at some level they've always been a put-on.

  • schoene upload!

  • Super Docu, ma jeunesse vive les années 70

  • 5:25 Arp 2500 synth! Kewl.

  • fantastic footage by the river. love Neu!

  • i think iggy pop might have been confusing neu for can...........neu, and somebody tell me i'm wrong, always seemed second tier (at best) as far as krautrock goes.

  • @posthumanhero

second tier? maybe so. o'd consider agitation free or jane to be second tier. i do prefer CAN, but those flowing songs of Neu! are really wonderful.

  • Comment removed

  • @posthumanhero He is definitely talking about Klaus Dinger. Second tier, does is say so on the Krautrock wikipedia page or something? Deferring opinion?

  • @godsaway0 second tire meaning that, in the cosmic scheme of things, they don't seem all that special..........can and amon duul2 not only had more of a connection to rock, but can be redisovered on several levels, something bands like faust/cluster/popol/neu/dream/kraft didn't seem capable of.......of course what i'm saying could be defined within' general (and relatively recent) music history and many of these artists may have been far more pioneering than i'm giving them credit for..

  • Which NEU! song starts at 01:114?

BTW, I can't find the final part anywhere. It annoys me when that happens.

  • i like the cement mixer...................i will play the cement mixer - genius

  • wow what a beautiful shot in front of the river.

  • hallaluwa!!! thanks for posting this!

  • anyone knows which song they play when the guy from Neu! speaks of water?

  • @TheMugava

the song playing is Hallo gallo.

its the first track off of their self titled lp

  • Comment removed

  • @TheMugava Hallogallo, the first song on Neu!

  • I love NEU!...one of my favorites.

  • Much thanks for this!

  • The Britannia series has been awesome too. I'd love it they made a Jazz Britannia and a Punk Britannia. Punk Britiannia is just simply crying out to be made!

  • Michael Rother lived in Wilmslow? No fucking way! Like 20 minutes away.

  • "pastoral psychedelicism" ftw iggy pop!

  • this shit is blowing my mind

  • has anyone seen iggy pop not bare chested? lol

  • what is the neu! song that is playing all throughout the beginning of this song?

  • hallogallo

  • For some reason,Faust never got to me,unlike Neu ,Harmonia,AshraTempel....it's too stark , not for nothing they stayed on the fringe.

  • @PAULLONDEN faust were too scattered to me..........just no real identity there.

  • "forgetting the past". no, dont forget. look at it under a microscope. learn from it. nothing is achieved without observing the birthing pains of a nations history.

  • wow,Iggy Pop's meditation music explained

  • I could listen to Michael Rother talk all day - he has that calm, serene voice of an artist, an artist at peace because he's in touch with the source of his art

  • This and SynthBrittania are great. So glad they made it onto YouTube so I could find them here in Oz.

    :-)

  • @BenedictRoffMarsh greetings from the "land of"!!!!!!

  • I want one of those BBC Testcard shirts

  • LOL Iggy POP and the Coconut!

  • what song is playing starting around 1:10? It sounds a lot like Wilco's "Spiders (kidsmoke)".
