@johnson1095 They do not sell milk, but they do sell Soda. and japanese snacks too. utensils, stationery, containers are also there. :) I do go to 100 yen shop a lot of times in a month ><
These stores exist in America and Canada. They;re run by a company called Daiso and they're $1.50 stores because of the transfer rate changing drastically.... but all the items there are still good quality and I usually shop for household items there. Like a for pots and pans.
@Spazzosity - That's the thing with exchange rates. For quite some time the jpy - usd exchange hovered right around (not always exact, but close) 100 yen to $1. It's much less than it used to be and fluctuating in both directions (mostly down) more than it used to.
Recently my job received a huge shipment of these items from Japan and a customer who used to live in Japan told me to look up 100 Yen Shops. Those black and red bowls are sitting in our store now lol. I love how many of the items are really useful for organizing a small space.
WOW!! In America people would gripe and say that they should get everything for a dollar and how it is false advertising! I think that is cool that they can do that. I work in retail and people gripe over .50cents if something is in the wrong location.
I was wondering if someone wanted to move to Japan, would they be able to apply for a living visa. Or would they need to work there for a year+ first? I wanna move their after High School and University.
I miss these 100 Yen shops. There are so many creative, well-designed items with reasonable quality. We have One Pound here in the UK, but it's not the same.
It is as corny as the 99¢ only store in the states. I love it. If I visit Japan, that would be the first place I would o to stock up on supplies for the stay.
this is unbelieveable. i have never seen a plate that costs $1. in my country, buying everything you need for your appartment, as you say you did, will empty out your wallet instantly. at least you'll enjoy the stuff, cause you wont be able to afford going out :)
Everywhere I come I see these kind of stores and they're great!!!! And when I get home there is not a shop to be found anywhere.......I always thought the dutch where about turning every penny around!
If you were to bring some of those Japanese plates and bowls here, they'd sell for over $5 per plate at most stores. Some stores sell 2 plain plastic square plates and 2 sets of plastic chopsticks for $20...it's rediculous.
You can buy just about any of those things for only $1?? Even the fancy glass jars, cups, plates, etc. that look a lot MORE expensive?? o.O How does that store stay in business selling so low? Hm... I mean, most of the "dollar stores" here in the states usually don't carry fancy stuff like the one in this video, at least the few times that I can remember. It's basically cheap stuff.
@whoo689 These stores buy usually direct from the fatories over productions, which the factories cannot sell anymore to their normal clients. And they sell it for any price, just to get rid of them. And most is good quality.
i just found your user man, AMAZING videos my goal in life is to go and live in japan... im spending hours watching all your videos its like being there.... keep them coming onegai

Benefits? Well given that the products actually cost very little (nowhere near 100yen), the benefits are that the Japanese gain a profit. Simple :D
Also, there are loads of these stores dotted around the place. People use them as well. It's a small profit but they're doing it on a mass scale so I'm guessing that it aint that bad.
PS. I didn't claim that the Chinese economy increased 5 times in recent times just due to these products! Where did that come from?
I would like to add my voice to the others...these are great videos...I am going to Japan for an extended stay next year and this is the stuff I need to know....... keep up the good work!
No need to apologize! These videos are interesting in their own right. You can buy a lot more dishes in the store you visited than in the dollar store near where I live... And way more clothing, too. Other than big meals, I practically live off of dollar stores. ;)
@TheJapanChannelDcom When i was in japan i bought heaps of BB guns since you can't get them in australia. would it be considered reckless, scary or impolite if a japanese person bought one?
