I don't think so. I truly feel that there are those who fell that MMA takes the the "DO" out of martial arts. The Mental aspect of being a good person and using the skills you train your entire life to perfect only to protect yourself and others from harm. My master says he doesn't understand why master teach to people wanting to do MMA. They use the art for glamour and money not self perservation and a way of training your mind as well as your body.
Another thing about my comment I do see actual martial artist in MMA. Like Lyoto Machida, Anderson Silva, GSP, Cung Li. Certain people that don't seemed to be consumed with the MMA lime light. They have respect for there opponents and respect for the art. I really enjoy seeing a person who never trashes other fighters or does anything disrespectful to emberass the art. A lot of others just do martial arts now to wear the MMA shirts and say that they can beat your ass. That isn't martial arts.
It is a sweet innocent talk but almost everywhere were artial arts to defeat your enemy or to kill him yes of course there were some where you trained to protect yourself but the most they were for fight
they dont compete because mma competition is a completely different context of fighting than what true karate is. true karate doesnt even contain sparring. its apples and pears nothing to do with what might happen
yes few of them could kill easily, on the other hand what about shaolin moks they are the best fighters anybody can say anything but they are best but they dont compete :D

true Karate masters do not compete in MMA because their techs would kill. Granted, there are few Karate masters that posess that kind of skill.
