How about this case? A 13-year-old girl was snatched off the streets in New York on her way home from school with friends, they couldn't help as the men were armed. She was brutally gang raped by five men, had her panties shoved down her throat to suffocate her, had sticks shoved up her vagina, was burned all over her body by cigarettes, was beaten and when the pedos were done, left her tied up in a gutter to die which she did. Her family will never recover.

I think you are wrong. In the case of a remorseful pedophile, suicide is an honorable act that restores their status as human beings. I think the guy in the video is right when he said "I'd like to thank this gentleman".
The suicide is a proof of sound morals, and dead pedos deserve some respect, especially the lawful ones. In essence they die for society and the sake of children.
Immanuel Kant would agree but not stupid Christians with their ridiculous anti-suicide belief.

@herrfrunck I do not see anything honourable about suicide. This is an outdated samurai concept. Suicide is not at all a proof of morality, it is a waste of someone who has the potential to do good, as anyone has this potential. You don`t have to be Christian or theist to oppose suicide, and I am unsure if Kant would agree on this.
Killing yourself does not enhance status, it does not cancel out anything you`ve done. I suggest watching Rurouni Kenshin, he saves lives to atone for murdering.

It seems clear Kant thought some crimes so morally repugnant that the moral agent should commit suicide rather than performing the former.
A suicide that saves others deserves respect, easy.
Suicides are still problematic as they go off like little bombs in society, affecting others. Like capital punishments they tend to ruin society embedding the idea that the value of life is relative, creating a nasty winner-loser culture. That's however not the suicidal person's responsibility,

@herrfrunck It's rare you'll find a situation where suicide is necessary or that the suicide itself is what saves people. Jumping on a grenade being a classic example: the person dies as a result of injuries sustained while using body as a shield, but using the body as a shield need not result in death, in theory someone who had better prepared with wearing armour might survive, or even moreso if you had time to set up a blast barrier.

@tyciol It's a good discussion and I agree with you that those kinds of scenarios are rare.
However, there's more to take into consideration. A pedophile may think he's too disgusting to live, (and we know that it may not be possible to get rid of an orientation). In that case it's a permanent solution to a permanent problem.
Maybe that seems harsh and cruel to you, but if that's his moral conviction then I respect it.
If you claim it's wrong, you need to present a solution.

@herrfrunck Subjective emotional adjectives like "disgusting" aren't relevant to potential to be constructive. Nor is "orientation" or whatever, people's minds have much potential to pursue higher things than indulgence in base sexual means, whether they're normal or abnormal whims. I do not see it as a problem in and of itself, it is a condition I believe they can learn to manage, especially with counseling.
Why should I respect moral conviction that destroys? Waste of brains that could build.

Don't get me wrong when I say I respect the choice. I just do if it has already happened. I am not applying it as a solution for others, still living. That's an entirely different thing.
Moreover, "brains that could build"? You're applying a general purpose on humanity, and that doesn't work. Different lives, different rules.

@herrfrunck World's got a lot of outcasts. I don't see why it's got to be permanent, people often learn to interact with others in spite of differences. I don't see why we should retroactively respect a choice after it happens, I look down on it! What a waste of all the vitamins and amino acids and nurture spent to create human beings and all that brain knowledge that could've been co-opted to build society!
I am merely identifying potential, I realize purpose is subjective.

In probably 95% of cases. Fixing problems and moving forwards will always be the best way to go. I think the line is blurred when it comes to the seriously disturbed criminals though. They'd like to move on, fine go ahead.
If they want to die, fine, I wouldn't blame 'em at all. At least that choice aligns with the general opinion of their worth.
I'd blame them for everything else but not for that. You say it's a waste, but not for society it isn't.

@herrfrunck I don't ever blame people for wanting things, even if it is death, but I would try to disincline them from wanting that. People who wish for death are depressing and all-around unstable. They may try to hurt other people before they go as well.
I don't care much for the 'general opinion' people have of various worths. Many important things in society get undervalued (such as um... nutritious vegetables).
It is a waste as it is an elimination of resources with nothing gained.
