I feel bad for the man playing Nikko/Truckle/Chistery (dependant on the medium). He is never mentioned by name whatosever, but then, outside of her given title, neither is his mistress (seeing as he & his squadron obey the witch's every command).
@Gawaine687 I think it's the latter. I can't see them being able to edit it well. They may have overlooked the line, but it seems more like it was just hard/impossible to cut it without it making a rather obvious jump cut. It's still funny to hear though.
@TherealRNO Yeah, but despite it being a difficult cut, I'm surprised they kept the one line about it in. I also find it funny ther ever classic "Fly my pretties, fly, FLY!" line isn't ACTUALLY a part of the film, and yet it's so famous.

But I am sure it was going to be, since Margaret ACTUALLY had MORE lines, but due to intial testing in which children had to be CARRIED AWAY, her scenes were widdled down to 12 MINUTES! It's sad really, since Maggie herself was a nice lady off-set, yet she was horrified to see that kids across the world saw her as the dog-hating Miss Gulch & as the infamously wicked Witch. It's WHY she appeared IN-COSTUME as the Witch on BOTH Mr. Rogers & Sesame Street years later.
@TherealRNO Hollywood and Oz folklore would have it believed that all prints and footage from the very first showings of the completed Oz have been lost or destroyed, certainly not true. many short clips and faded elements still remain. there is a badly decomposed scene of the witch saying to Dorothy after they have been cornered in her castle,
@etrax2000 Where can these be found?! Beyond all the things included on the DVD releases, I know there HAS to be clips/elements somewhere. Are there any online?
@GHolcombe Other than entering film school or befriending some archivist; it would be most dificult to obtain these artifacts. Utah; of all places has quite a lot of film storage libraries.. Univ.at PEPPERDINE also had access to many sound tracks & special efects elements that were used in the film and many deleted composites..
@GHolcombe .Some of the archives remain in a semi- private state where the univ dosn't really own the rights to any material but only act as conservators and can grant access to a limited few. Sticky fingers are everywhere !

I just love how she mentions that the monkies "send the insect on ahead" (The Jitterbug), and yet it isn't in the movie at all.
