I like your explanation: guys want to see this because they want to bone Huge Jack... I mean, Hugh Jackman. Not only the very idea is hot as fuck, it's the only logical explanation.
@xAngelicFruitCakex I'm aware of that. That's why I made a joke about us sitting on the wrong side. Unless your comment is directed at my 9 yr old son for pantomiming a wheel during a spontaneous ad lib in the outtakes, in which case you're a cool guy.
Well, it was better than half of the X-Men movies. Also, I'll go ahead and take that bullet for you, Gladstone, and have lots of sex with Hugh Jackman so you don't have to compromise your straight man persona. Don't worry, I'll describe it to you later in perfect detail so it'll be like you were there. Or, you could watch, I guess? That'd be ok too.
@gladstonew a book called steel is the twilight zone episode is based off of the book steel 1956 fantasy mag I saw it the twilight zone episode, you've already lost the argument..how do you feel?
@KingLegendary1 what argument? I was well aware of the Twilight Zone epi, when I made this. Do you not see the deliberate allusion to rockem sockem in the movie? Also in Steel doesn't the jackman character pretend to be a robot to battle a robot? What are you trying to prove?
Thats exactly what I thought you'd say, honestly I'm bored but Yeah I see it, but the movie is a clear cut rip off of the short story, I mean Boxing isn't as popular as it was back in the 60s and early to mid 70s. Although the Rock and Sockem theme is somewhat present that's how we could interpret it but the only question I ask is why bother to critically think about a rather crappy hugh jackman movie? but for steel actually it was different but essentially the components are the same it was a
a man fighting a robot, and ultimately getting brutalized but because he was once a boxer he gives it his all to win and I believe eventually he does manage knock the robots head off to some degree but again Twilight Zone never usually has a optimistic approach when it came to their selection of episodes, the negativity is what gave it a rather unique feature..
Thought this is a VERY formulaic Spielberg film I found it enjoyable. Jackman and Mackie were great in the role but many of the other cast members were just plot devices and stereotypes but the robot interaction was fantastic. SPOLIER? Smart-alec kids aren't cute or entertaining to me.
@Starlord1999 Apparently I read that an actual Rock em' movie was in development along with a company buying the rights for Chutes. I hope that was just an odd dream I had.
You want to go see it not because of Hugh Jackman; but because it has robots fighting in it. Who doesn't like robots beating the crap out of each other? Nobody, that's who.
Real Steel turned out to be good. They're radio controled Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots with pop locking dance moves and have no problem kicking a bull in the ass…go see it!
First of all, that's not a lot of money compared to what I'm getting through my site. Also, I don't qualify. Even though clearly altering existing media for the purposes of satire and its fair use, they would never allow that.
Ah... I can already tell where they're going with this. I will bet any money that as the former number 2 boxer in the world, the robot he "trains" will face it's biggest challenge in a climactic fight against the champion robot (who we'll later find out has the skills and moves of the former number 1 boxer) in which while damaged, Hugh Jackman's robot will pull off an amazing comeback and take the title. Hugh Jackman will cry, the annoying kid will cry, and we'll all die a little on the inside.
No joke, when I first saw this trailer; I really thought they were overselling the whole "one robot punched the other robot's head off" part, to the extent that I was positive this was actually a Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots movie until the moment they showed the title.
Supposedly this film is based off of a short story called "Steel" written in 1958. The plot was exactly the same as this movie. However, nobody thought of that at any point in the production or release of this movie.
